3 Chapter 1

It all started with a simple math test.

"What do you mean we're having a party today?" I asked curiously looking at my best friends evil smile. Her dark brown hair laid on the side of her face with her deep chocolate eyes gleaming a very dangerous "this is totally going to get us thrown in jail or worse" look.

"Mira...you're a vampire so I know you heard my every single word so instead of repeating myself Imma move on with the details of my plan." Beth laughed maniacally.

I sighed and almost wished my best friend was a normal human. You see, I met Beth while attending my freshman semester course of College. She was sitting in the back by herself having this deranged look on her face (later to find out Beth was up all night writing stories and reading manga), most of our classmates wouldnt talk to her but of course me being a full blooded vampire..what would I fear? The answer is this psycho.

During out classes first math test, I had been late and didnt have any pencils or paper. So stuck trying to find a seat was difficult but there was one right next to Beth. I had reached over and asked for paper and pencil and she, without speaking a word had given it. "Thank you." She had just nodded. Somehow I couldn't concentrate, so it was me, the teacher and beth who were left in the classroom. When the teacher sighed and said she'd be right back. I waited til the door closed and looked at Beth who was already staring.

"Um can I help you?" I had asked nervously...and she spoke.

Her first words were "You're a vampire and I'm anemic let's be friends!" When she spoke those words my heart sank and I completely freaked out. Beth was rolling on the floor laughing.

"How do you know I'm a...a vampire?" I whispered to her after she caught her breath.

"Princess Mira..right? My grandfather is a vampire, but my mom is human and my dad is a halfblood." Beth smiled and reached out her hand.

"Miiiiiirrrrraaaaa." I heard as I felt warm hands being placed on my shoulders and began to viciously shake. "You spaced out during my amazing all inclusive incredible performance of how this party is going to go!" Beth shouted at me with a bemused look. "Ya know Mira, with your pretty black hair and hazel colored eyes I'm surprised you haven't been asked out yet."

"Wha-a-at are you talking about so suddenly." I stammered a bit. Until she squeezed my hand gently. "Beth you know now isn't the time for something like that...not with the dwellers wanting to start war.." I trailed off sad and angry. Beth's warm hand never let go of mine.

"I heard my grandfather talking about that. He said that long ago when your kind first created us, Your grandfather and a vampire named Dracus didnt agree with what to do about Humanity." I nodded.

"Dracus wanted to keep humanity in a bottle. He told my grandfather that he could see how humanity might make our kind not only weaker but destroy our ways. Dracus just wanted to have blobs full of blood to keep us fed and alive. My grandfather told him no that we created humanity and as such we should allow it to grow just like the vampire children do. Dracus couldn't find reason as to why my grandfather could see not only the unbridled potential in what humans could be but he had also fell in love with one." I said looking over at my best friend. Her eyes met might and a soft smile appeared.

"I know how that goes. When my dad first told me and my mom what and who him and his dad were...I think that's the only time my mom was super mad. Especially because dad had to explain to us why I wasnt growing normally, like I was 5 and looked 2 still. I was always super anemic to the point even the doctors were scared. but turns out vampire blood and human blood dont always go together huh. But luckily my human side kicked in more than the vampiric one and now I have the badass princess on our side to help save something so beautiful." She said letting out a chuckle. I couldn't help but smiled back.

"And to think..if it wasn't for that simple math test huh." I said looking at the bright smile of my best friend.
