Chapter 7

Looking around the task board the two saw some gathering  quests in the nearby forests, as well as some hunting requests. When Sila saw one asking to hunt a few horned rabbits, she decided to take that task on. She tore it off and handed it over to Isla to check.

"Sister this one's a good one to start with. We can see if it's any easier having better equipment, and no distractions".

Isla agreed with Sila's choice. The reward was worth 50 silver coins, but they got to keep the corpses, so they weren't disappointed with the price. Without waiting for the other adventurers to treat them sarcastically, they went straight through the door.

"Do you know which task they took?" a large, bald warrior asked.

A lanky man with a scar above his eye responded, "it looked to be from the hunting requests".

The bald man let out a bellowing laugh, "hunting from the get go, the little girls have come to die. What a shame, if they were that desperate for money, this old man wouldn't mind paying them to keep me company at night. I haven't tried twins before".

The hall was filled with booing and laughter, but a small group in the corner with vicious eyes like wolves had already left towards the direction of the twins.

Isla and Sila walked straight towards the eastern gate, where the forest of Rind was located. From the locations shown on the map they purchased and from the tasks in the guild hall, Rind forest was in the direction of the capital, so it was vast and densely filled with many different races, both intelligent and otherwise. Making it a very dangerous area to go into. However the outer layers contained only the weaker magic creatures that didn't have too high intelligence. Perfect for the two of them to practice their hands.

"We're being followed, sister", Sila reminded Isla.

"Don't worry, they seem to want to wait until we finish our task before showing up", Isla responded carelessly.

"Do you want to deal with them now?" Sila couldn't help but ask.

Isla thought for a while, "They'll probably run at the first sight of danger. Wait until they think we're exhausted, and maybe we'll be able to earn a little extra from them".

Sila had gotten used to her sister's egregious nature, so she hummed in response and the two quickly entered the outer area of the forest.

The two saw countless tracks leading in and out, assuming they came from the adventurers that often walked through. They could even hear some groups in the distance. Knowing that this area was probably too public for there to be any prey, they quickly walked deeper into the forest, choosing to take the untrodden and overgrown route.

The two got further and further away from the voices of the other groups, until only the sound of their own walking could be heard, their eyes searching around for any sign or trail left by beasts. The two ignored the trails of other beasts, only focusing on horned rabbits.

After the morning had passed, the two finally found semi fresh tracks belonging to a horned rabbit, without a moments hesitation, they rushed forwards. Not far from where the tracks were left they came across the grazing area of what seemed to be a group of five horned rabbit. Looking at the group, there didn't seem to be any one that made them feel a sense of worry.

Isla gestured to Sila and both quickly split, circling silently around the group, maintaining enough distance so as not to be noticed. They took off their bows and nocked their arrows. Aiming for seperate targets, before firing.

The arrows were shot at such a speed that even the horned rabbits known for their agility had no chance to react. The arrows went straight through the heads of two rabbits, which made the twins simultaneously pause for a moment, but seeing as it had drawn the attention of the other three, they shook off their stupor and Isla rushed towards the last three, whilst Sila nocked another arrow.

The horned rabbits chased after Isla who maintained calm and practice movements, while Sila shot the chasers. When two more had been killed, Isla quickly motioned for Sila to stop, "Let me finish the last one". After hearing her sister, Sila simply put away her bow and waited where she was.

Isla drew out the daggers on her sides and sped towards the last rabbit. Seeing that it was trying to dodge out of her way, Isla focused on attacking its head, whilst maintaining vigilance towards its horn.

She lightly slashed one dagger across the back of its neck, testing the blades sharpness. When she saw the cut that easily drew blood, she finally understood the importance of good equipment. Without wasting any more time, she stabbed a dagger straight down into the horned rabbits skull, causing it to flail when it hit the ground, no longer moving.

The two looked at each other with disbelief, the task that they thought could be their chance to start to hone their skills was completed with such ease. After retrieving the arrows from the other four rabbits, they dug out the magic cores familiarly.

"How do we transport them back?" Sila wondered.

"Divide them up, then tie those together, we should be able to carry them back? " Isla said uncertainly.

"Who has to take 3?" Sila asked the important question.

"" Scissors, paper, rock""

" Yes"

"Fuck"

Isla walked in the front with a pep in her step, two horned rabbits tied together, carried behind her back, as if feeling no weight from these boar sized beasts.

Sila couldn't help scolding under her breath, although the weight wasn't heavy for her, the size and shape of three horned rabbits made it quite cumbersome for her to walk freely.

The two had completed their task much quicker than expected, seeing that it was about midday, they thought the group waiting for them probably wouldn't attack them so blatantly. However, sometimes the more you try to use common sense, the more you're surprised by the shamelessness of people when they fail to live up to your already low expectations.
