It was time to catch my plane. "Lourdes! Are you ready or not? We're going to be late!" I yelled after my best friend. She started to walk down the stairs of our small housing. Struggling to roll down her massive suitcases. "We are not going to be late! I'm coming! Hold on!"

"Just give me a sec," she mutters and grunts as she continues to struggle. I give her an annoyed look and she glares at me as she finally reaches the last step. "You know you could've helped me instead of just watching me struggle down the stairs," she says with a pissed look in her blue eyes.

I shrugged. "It was funnier to just watch you fail at bringing unnecessary big ass suitcases down the stairs," I stated. She scoffs and rolls her eyes. "You a bitch. You know that?" she says. I chuckled at her as we exited our house complex.

After stuffing our suitcases in my Model S red Tesla, I set up the GPS to the JFK airport and then we were off. It wasn't busy on the road here in the city of New York which was surprising.

We had just graduated from NYU and we were going to San Jose, California. Back home to our families. I had decided on going back home to work in the San Jose hospital as a resident. I had gotten my PHD my junior year of high school and decided to go to college anyway. I wanted to go back home to be closer to my dad.

I'm going to be staying home for a little while just until my real estate realtor finds a nice place for me. Which should be pretty soon. But right now, I just couldn't wait to see my dad.

My dad had me when he was 15 and just starting his freshman year of high school. He was a bit of a player back then up to a point where he got a girl pregnant without actually knowing he did until she disappeared and then showed up.

Well more like I showed up. The bitch I'm supposed to call my mother left me on my grandparents doorstep. He didn't believe I was his daughter of course. They were going to send through the system but first they did a DNA test and it confirmed I was his.

He was terrified of course until he started to take care of me. And my grandparents fell in love with me quickly. And the reaction he got from his best friends was hilarious. They were 15 and uncles. The whole squad never left his side and helped care for me.

Mind you, they were 15 and still growing up. They are now all in their 30s and completely grew up. But one thing that I knew was wrong was being attracted to one of them. Ashton. My dad's closest and oldest friend.

I started feeling sexually attracted to him when I was around 17. I didn't act on it of course. And I was never obvious. I hope. And plus I've gotten over it once I got into college. I mean it was just a silly crush. Nothing special.

College sex was the best sex. I never actually had a boyfriend. I just had a lot of fun. I've been doing that since high school. I remember when my dad first caught the boy in my room. The boy almost shit his pants when my 6 foot 4 massive muscular father came bursting into my room.

The boy had literally screamed and ran out the room faster than sonic and flash combined. I was grounded for a month. One of my dad's best friends, Caden, told me, "Damn! Like father, like daughter!"

That resulted in my dad smacking the shit out of him. It was fucking hilarious.

"Nixie!" I finally heard Lourdes yell to me. I looked at her and glared. She gave me an incredulous look. "You were daydreaming, but anyway we're here," she states. Since I was getting my tesla sent to me once I landed, we got that situated and headed for the entrance of the airport.

As we waited for our flight, I glanced towards Lourdes as she was applying clear lip gloss to her lips. Lourdes was stunning. She had a tan complexion with blonde curly hair. Almost like mine. Her eyes were this light blue. We've been best friends since second grade. The first time we met we actually hated each other. Until we were paired in a science project and realized we were more alike than we thought. And we realized we hated the same girl. Then we fought her. Together.

After that we were inseparable. Our personalities were quite similar, our styles were not. Lourdes had more bright clothes and wore dresses and skirts, I wore dark crop tops, dark ripped jeans, and leather jackets. While she had bright blonde curly hair, I had dark brown curly hair. Her eyes were blue, my eyes were brown. Our styles and looks were polar opposites. But we were both crazy in our own ways.

"So, are you excited to see him?" she says to me, grabbing her phone from her back pocket. I shrugged. "Of course, I haven't seen dad since graduation, which was 4 months ago," I said. "No. I'm talking about him," she states with a knowing look.

I stared at her with no expression on my face. "Stop it," I glared. She chuckles. "Come on, I know you are," she says. "No, I'm not. Well, of course I am, I haven't seen him in a while. He wasn't at graduation. But it's not like that anymore. I was just a kid and it was a silly crush, alright," I told her.

She gave me an incredulous look. "He's way too old for me, Lourdes. And he's my dad's best friend."

"He's not super old. He's 35," Lourdes says. "Yeah, a grown ass man," I said. "Yeah, and you're a grown ass woman. You telling me the feelings went away?" She asked. "Okay, I didn't have feelings for him. It was just a crush I had on him. Like being attracted to the Winchester brothers. Or freaking Chris Hemsworth. But like I said, I was a kid. I got over it the moment I entered college," I stated.

"Okay. Okay. Whatever. But just so you know, don't be surprised when your so-called crush resurfaces when you see him for the first time in 4 years," she says. I roll my eyes.

Ashton Knight. My dad's oldest and closest best friend. Besides the other of my best friends Ashton was always there. And yes, it's true. I had a crush on my dad's best friend when I was 17 but it was like being attracted to Jensen Ackles or Chris Evans. Or even Klaus from The Originals. Men old enough to be my dad. It was that attraction. Having a crush on someone you know you'd never get because they're way older than you.

And Lourdes is wrong. Just because I haven't seen him in a long ass time, doesn't mean the crush would come back. It was silly and childish and a complete fantasy. It's not like that nor will it ever be. And plus I'm 21 now. I do what I want with other guys that are actually around my age and not my father's best friend and might as well be my uncle. It would be weird.

Right?

Our plane announcement had finally come. We both cheered as people around us looked at us like a couple of mental patients. We of course didn't care because it was finally time to go. We grabbed our suitcases and practically dashed down the place to where our flight was.

About 30 minutes had passed as we finally entered the plane. We both sat down in our respected seats. We quietly argued before we sat down because she wanted to be at the window seat but eventually she gave up and let me sit there. Then we finally took off.

Time to go home. Finally.
