14 Chapter 11

Aiyana walked into her house and walked straight upstairs to her father’s room. Her parents shared the same house but not the same room. Aiyana remembered having a happy childhood. With her happy parents.

She did know when all of that had changed. When the two people who were so in love fell out of it. It started with the little things. It’s always the little things.

When dad played unchained melody, he did not instantly swoop mom in his embrace and swayed with her slowly to the music. Eventually Sunday tradition of playing unchained melody as they sat together in the living room stopped.

Mom did not look at him the same way. There was no longer a spark in her eyes when daddy held her in his arms. She no longer cooked his favorite meals every Saturday with her own hands as dad would keep poking in just watching her sing and cook.

He no longer watched her with awe when she moved about the house. The flowers he bought her every week stopped.

And one day just like that, they weren’t in love anymore. They slowly faded in front of Aiyana’s eyes and she could not do anything about it. The worst was they never fought. They simply didn’t care enough to scream. Ever.

Mom just packed her things and moved out of her room. She never left him nor divorced. They never fought for or with each other. They just stopped being mom and dad. And the worst was she don’t even know why.

How can something so beautiful fade?

But they still cared, she knew they did. she knew it because they never moved on from each other or truly ever left. They never cheated.

So, when she walked into her father’s room she did not expect what she saw.

she opened the door without knocking because she never did that. It’s not like she was going to find someone there.

“Dad? I need you laptop for a while mine stopped working again. You really should buy me a new one”

But , she did. Aiyana saw a young woman draped around my father, naked.

Anger blazed into her stance as she ran away out of her house and into her car. Igniting the engine she sped away.

Why did he do this? We can never go back from this. They can never recover now. He ruined it. He ruined everything.

her heel pressed harder on the accelerator, as her anger gave way to recklessness. Driving straight to bar, Aiyana walked to the nearest stool that was empty.

“vodka cranberry please”

The bartender looks at her in surprise and serves her a drink after checking her Id. The tip of the triangular glass traces her lips as let the alcohol burn slowly through her throat.

She hears the familiar sound of my girl ring announcing the call being from her father. Aiyana swiftly cut the call, she can’t talk to him right now. This will be the final nail to our broken family and she knew that.

Aiyana downed the drink quicker than she realize, following it with another.

By the time she had downed her second , she felt a little light headed. The reasonable part of brain told her to slow down. She was alone at a bar far away from home and if she continued at this rate she may not make it home. she should at least call someone to pick her up but then again all she had was Scarlett, Liam and mom right now. And she couldn’t face or talk to anyone of them. she really should slow down so I can make it home. But, images of my father with another woman keep flashing in front of her eyes. She looked almost her age yet seemed to not hold a candle to my mother’s beauty.

How could dad do this to us?

To our family?

To mom?

Did things get so bad that they stopped even caring. Has he become so cold hearted towards my mother to not bother hiding his affair. Why did he not try finding his way back to her?

Why give up so soon?

How can you once love someone so much for so long and one day wake up to stop caring?

Is love this fragile?

So unimportant that you let it go this easily? That your ego can’t handle saying sorry to the one you love?

That you would throw it all away for a cheap fuck?

How could he not see this would the final nail to their marriage? Why could he not try and get her back?

Why did he let those little things pass by?

“A shot this time”

The bartender pours a shot and watches Aiyana down it as she waves for another. That’s when she felt it. A pair of eyes watching her. Willing her to turn around and respond. With the little glass in her hand Aiyana turned around to search the bar for the magnetic eyes that were killing buzz.

And then she saw them. The Grey eyes that used to capture her attention each morning. The grey eyes that made it go away if only for a second.

And that jaw clenched in anger that made Aiyana smile. Every fucking time.

He was looking directly at her when she downed the shot and absently waved for the glass to be replaced with another glass of vodka cranberry.

The glass swished a little as she wobbled her way to Mr. Arizona’s table, seating herself beside the man that Mr. Arizona sat with. A sexy smile curling around her lips, she slurred on.

“fancy finding you here Mr. Arizona? Didn’t think you had a life.”

Sky visibly tenses at her gaze, as Aiyana’s eyes settle on his lips. Sky could tell Aiyana had been drinking herself senseless. He had watched her down two drinks, two shots and another drink was on its way. Something this reckless was not acceptable. He felt protective of her and had she not spotted him for another minute Sky was sure he would made his way to sit beside her and stop from prying eyes.

This jealousy and protectiveness was a new feeling to Sky. He did not understand it. And towards Aiyana was even more odd. He had seen Chris observing him all night long. He had kept his mouth shut but Sky could tell Chris had formed some opinion on this matter.

Aiyana then turned to Chris and said, “Hi. I am Aiyana”

Her head was swaying unsteadily as she spoke.

“I am Chris. And I must say I am extremely delighted to meet you.”

“You have a very sexy smile Chris. I wonder what else about you is sexy.”

Chris’ brow rose up at Aiyana’s bold flirting. He could not say he did not like the attention. Aiyana after all was very desirable. And he did desire her the moment he followed Sky’s gaze and saw her at the end of it.

“I have a lot of things that sexy. But, if I told you right now, you might not like me tomorrow when you’re sober.”

Aiyana leaned into Chris, placing her hands on his chest, almost brushing her lips to his.

“I just might forget you tomorrow morning. What would rather take a chance with? Me forgetting you and never getting to know me at all or taking me tonight and roll the ball with what I think of you tomorrow. Besides I can’t resent the reason that allows me to forget tonight”

Sky who was watching this altercation between Chris and Aiyana did not like this situation one bit. Aiyana was clearly not in her senses. She would not flirt with Chris under any other circumstances. He was too old for her.

Besides, Aiyana told him that he turned her on merely by breathing. Then, why was she ignoring him and flirting with his friend. Not that Sky wanted to be at the end of Aiyana’s attention at all. That little thing drove him crazy. Or so he told himself.

“Chris, she is a child. Don’t take advantage of her”

“A child!”

Aiyana immediately turned to face Sky, glowering over him.

“I am not a fucking child!”

“because your current reckless behavior is that of an adult isn’t it? A woman recklessly drinks herself senseless and spreads her legs for the first man she lays eyes on. A woman with such tendencies is called easy. So, it’s your pick. Are you child or a whore?”

Tears trickled down Aiyana’s cheeks. Sky instantly felt bad. He had been very mean and clearly crossed a line. Sky was not sure what made him say these things, despite knowing it would hurt her. But, all he knew he wanted to. He was angry with her.

“I just wanted to forget.” Aiyana whispered.

Aiyana downed the drink in her hand in one single gulp as tears continued to rush down her cheeks, before repeating I just wanted to forget.

Sky almost reached out to hold her, comfort and possibly say sorry to her but, Chris beat him to it.

His arms curled around Aiyana as he held her to his chest and glowered at Sky. Chris was angry with him. Chris let Aiyana cry in his chest for a long time, only lifting her up in his arms when she slowly started to fall asleep.

Slowly walking her to his car and placing her gently in the seat. Sky had followed them out and received a punch on his face as soon as Chris turned.

“You inconsiderate basturd. I was never going to sleep with her. It was clear from her eyes and the way that she was drinking that she was trying to forget something. I was just trying to distract her from her pain. I don’t know why, but I felt like being nice to her. Something about her made me want to protect her. Why the fuck would say that to her? Why would you say that to anyone? Everyone is not your precious Tess! So, stop treated them like that!”

Sky stood there speechless as he watched Chris get into the car and drive off with her to his own apartment.

By the time Sky had reached his apartment he watched Chris walk out of the bedroom that Chris was supposed to be sleeping in with a pillow in his hand. Placing it on the couch he turned to Sky and said, “I you say another word about it, I will kill you”

Sky nodded and headed to his room. Checking in on Aiyana, sweetly tucked in bed. And just for a moment Sky stopped. Thinking how angelic she looked while slept.
