2 Chapter I || Kicked Out

Alina ran ahead of me, "Follow me!" She shouts urgently, running past various workers who are annoyed by our disturbance.

If anyone saw me running, they'd think I'm a hopeless case due to the massive flailing I do when I run.

What's happening now?! On our birthday not to mention.

I pause and gasp for air. "Aha! There you are Miss." I shouldn't have stopped. Guess who I ran into? Well, surprise surprise! My assistant, still going on about calling me Miss.

"I have to go to the bathroom!" I say. "See you!"

"Wait just a moment Miss." He grabs my capable arm that could fight him for hours. Gee he's learning. "You are being called."

"By who?!" I look in horror.

He stopped talking and led me to the longest stairway. I know who now.

Where's Alina anyway?

Our house was quiet, too quiet to be considered normal. "Er...soooooo." I signal him an opening to kindly explain why I'm headed towards my inevitable doom.

"I have the right to remain silent." he responds.

"You'll find out soon enough anyway."

...

He led the both of us to the halls that no one dare take a step on, trudging in deeper.

Every step I took shot my levels of anxiousness over the roofs.

"Oops," Aiden laughs. "Wrong way." He drags me away from the room I was expecting.

"Here." He lightly shoves me...outside.

---

Without further explanation, they never did let me go grab stuff from my room. Just plain get your butt outta here. Aiden, my assistant gave me a sack of what I guess are basic necessities. It was as if they had already planned this so long ago and simply wait for an opening where they could abandon me. And, of course-- today was that day. On my birthday with Alina. What is happening? Standing by the exit, I pause, speechless. Am I gonna let them do this to me? OF COURSE NOT. I stomp my feet as I approach another set of doors. I need to know why.

"People are doubting you." A voice makes its way to my eardrums by echo. Aiden. "What does that mean?" My eyebrows crease. "Look Lilette," he sighs. "Rumors are spreading that you aren't of your parents' bloodline." Well, I know I don't look like anyone of my anscestors but why do they care? Why NOW? "That you and Alina might not be twins after all." He scratches his head and leads me outside again. "Alina..." I gape. She's also affected by this because we're known to be sisters. Now, they question one detail, and it starts falling apart already. How fragile. No...she isn't supposed to be involved in this. "I-" I take a step forward to the outside world. "You're right," I say. "This is the only way so Alina won't be hurt."

"Don't you think Alina should be the one worrying about you? Not the other way around? But.." Aiden grabs my shoulder from behind, "I'm glad you comply with what you think is best."

I begin to walk, "Alina has a lot on her mind." I look down. "I don't want this to be an addition to her problems." Muttering it under my breath.

"Just a sec." Aiden stops me. "I almost forgot to give you this."

My curiosity runs wild for a half darn minute. "Put down your hand," he orders me. "I almost forgot to give you this." He hands me a nifty money pouch. Mostly filled with coins. "See you."

He won't miss me at all? I'd be lying if I said I didn't care how Aiden is handling this goodbye quite well. "Make sure you put it to good use now." You didn't need to say that...I thought YOU of all people knew me. I go without responding, with my things in tow.
