6 Chapter 6

We were back in Carter's room.

"I don't care," Tobias angrily groaned at me. He walked past me and out the bedroom door.

"Tobias," I sighed as I slowly sat down on the floor of the bedroom. Tears started to stream down my face as I realized just how badly the secret had hurt his feelings. I never meant for him to be angry with me about it. It was for my safety, for his safety.

Was I just selfish? Did I care too much about my safety to care about other people? I know Carla now, and she would never tell anyone about my powers. Would she have back then?

"Breathe Daisy" the voice started, "He'll come around."

"Who is this?" I asked in my head. Someone had tapped into my telepathy, I guess leaving my mind open to anyone else's thoughts made myself susceptible to anybody else's.

I was told I was unique though.

"You'll find out soon Daisy," the voice said. I didn't hear it for the rest of the day.

Tobias's POV

"Carla?" I interrupted gently. Carter was speaking to her and I felt rude for interrupting. I needed to talk to her though.

They finished in a few seconds and then Carter walked away. I took his seat on the dark wooden porch swing, sitting right next to Carla. She took a sip of water from her glass and then smiled at me.

"What's up Tobias? You're looking a lot better than you did this morning," She said softly and sweetly. I never realized how caring she, I never gave her a chance to show that side. All I knew was that she was "dangerous."

"When did you and Daisy have the conversation about who you were?"

She looked at me concerningly and then sat her glass down on the end table. She positioned herself so that she was facing me and then took a deep breath.

"You're angry."

"I feel betrayed."

"So," she paused for a second, "You're angry."

"No-"

"Tobias I blackmailed her into not telling you. She was just as scared of me as you were once."

"I saw," I explained, "She should've told me."

"Tobias," Carla said in a stern and dark voice. She roughly grabbed my shoulder, pulled me off the swing, and shoved me into the wall. She turned her eyes red and her grip started to grow warmer as she pinned me.

"If you don't go apologize to your girlfriend, I'm going to burn you the same way I'm burnt," she growled, "Understood?"

She had a hand, palm up, in between us at about chest level, which was starting to fill with a fireball. The heat of the fire was starting to singe my shirt.

Was she actually going to burn me?

A few seconds went by without me answering and she pushed her hand closer to me.

"Fine! FINE!" I screeched as I started to feel my chest getting entirely too hot for my comfort.

She stepped back and clapped her hands once, causing the fire to disappear. She placed her hand on my shoulder and my shirt went back to normal.

"Pleasure doing business with you," She smirked as she walked away.

I don't know if I'm impressed or terrified.
