10 Chapter 10

Daisy's POV

"I'm in pursuit of Tobias, he's on the run," I shouted into the watch that Hannah had given me just a few days ago.

"What are your coordinates?" Carter frantically and angrily shouted into his radio.

"R.A.I. (pronounced like ray) send the coordinates of Daisy to all members of the group," Hannah's voice echoed in the radio.

R.A.I. : Radio AI ; a computer program that Nathan, Madelyn, and Hannah made to assist with locating members of the group. Rai can send coordinates, disconnect serves, release the mechanical animals that Nathan made; Rai pretty much does whatever we tell her to do.

"As you wish Hannah," Rai said in a monotone robot voice. All of our watches pinged with my location. I was close behind Tobias as he ran from me. In a loud crack of lightning and flash of light, Carter had tackled Tobias from the side and pinned him to the ground. Tobias was instantly knocked out.

"What are we gonna do with him?" I asked Carter who was pretty much on fire from the air friction on his clothing. He patted the singed clothing and then grabbed Tobias by his ankle. He started to drag him past me.

"Carla wanted to deal with him," Carter blankly stated.

"Uh oh," I sighed as I followed him.

If Carla is asking for him then there's no way that she has something good planned.

Nathan met us a few minutes later on one of the mechanical horses. Hannah was next to him on the other one.

They had a chain in their hands.

Carter wrapped the chain under Tobias's arms and attached the other end to the back of one of the horses. I stood silently as I watched Nathan slowly walk his horse forward, dragging Tobias behind him.

"I'm sorry that you were dating a felon," Carter groaned as we walked behind the horse. He was rubbing his temples. I could tell this stressed him out.

"You okay?" I asked quietly.

"I should be asking you that," Carter answered back in the same quiet manner, "I'm not used to doing this."

"Doing what?"

"Being the bad guy," Carter answered.

"He tried to murder one of your best friends and you're sad you have to be the bad guy?" I asked, "He'd be dead if that was my best friend."

"Carla doesn't let us kill people."

I looked dead at him like he had four heads, "Carla has killed people before."

"Years ago."

"But has still murder people," I argued.

"Daisy she killed people who killed children."

"That doesn't make it right."

"She knows that now."

"What do you think she's going to do with Tobias?"

"Probably question him and then detain him in jail."

"So she won't kill him?" I asked.

"Carla doesn't kill people anymore."

I scrunched my lips and walked quietly.

"She's not the bad guy-"

"I know," I responded, "I just-"

"She's not the bad guy," Carter interrupted.

I didn't talk after that. I could tell Carter was obviously feeling stressed with Carla being immobile and I didn't want to break his chain by wording something wrong.

We arrived at the cabin just about ten minutes later. Tobias was unconscious but breathing. I couldn't convince myself whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.

I looked up to the cabin to see Carla sitting on the steps with Aspen sitting next to her. I instantly got a pang of worry. A feeling that I got from Carter. I shut off the connection and followed behind him as he walked towards Carla and Aspen.

"You're not supposed to be out of bed," Carter worriedly told Carla as she slowly stop up to hug him. She was wrapped in a heavy blanket and wearing layers.

"I heard on the radio that you found him," She softly spoke. She coughed roughly and blood came from her mouth. Carter stood in horror.

"I needed to be out here," Carla softly added.

"You're not healthy enough to be around him," Carter urged her.

"I am healed enough to walk on my own, therefore healed enough to deal with him," she groaned as she stood to her feet. Aspen jumped right up to tell her to sit down but Carla gestured for her to stay. Carla slowly dropped the blanket to show blood soaked clothes, every inch of her, other than her face, was covered in dark red blood.

She walked to Tobias and laid her hand on the chain, causing it to immediately melt away into a liquid version of itself. She put her hand on Tobias's head and gently shut her eyes.

"What is she doing?" I asked Carter who was standing next to me watching the same scene I was.

Carter shrugged a response, quietly looking over at me with the most worried facial expression I've ever seen a human bare.

Tobias's eyes opened and Carla started to ooze blood again.

"How are you not dead?" Tobias growled.

Carla quickly put her hand back on his head and Tobias started to scream like he was being killed.

Carter looked in shock at Carla. Was she killing Tobias?

Carla lifted her hand and sat back on her haunches, her head instantly fell down to her hands where she covered them. Carter ran over and checked Tobias's pulse.

"I'm alive stupid," Tobias growled at him.

Carter froze, just staring at Tobias.

I slowly inched closer to check Carla, glancing over at Tobias. Blood came from his closed eyes.

"Carla-"

"I'm alright," Carla painfully whispered. She lifted her head, using Tobias's jacket to wipe the blood from his face.

"What's wrong Carla?"

"I needed to take his eyes," Carla whispered as she lifted her head to look up at Carter, "It was the way he was using his power."

"Power?" I asked.

Carla looked over at me sulkily and slowly shut her eyes, reopening them a few seconds later.

"Daisy," Carla started, "Tobias isn't a superhuman."

"Wha-"

"Dun dun dun!" Nathan laughed.

"He's barely even human," Carla continued.

"He's a monster."

Carla nodded at my guess.

"They're called Cachions, I met one while I was hunting one day. Sweet old woman who was starving and hunted me down to warn me. Some Cachions are extremely sweet and want us to win this war."

"War?"

"They want to eradicate each and every one of us," Carla continued.

"Why?"

Carla looked right at me, "These things were trained since birth to kill us."

"But why?"

"Because we were made to be super soldiers, and their government wanted a defense."

"Wait how do you know all this?" Nathan asked.

Carla looked at Nathan, "I lived with two Cachions for a while."

We all started looking around at eachother.

"Back when I was an assassin guys, nobody here is a spy, I already checked." Carla pointed out.

"When did you check us?" Carter asked.

"Right after I got y'all back," Carla explained, "They were made to hunt us down guy, this fight is big, bigger than any fight we've ever been in."

Tobias looked up at Carla well not really looking but more like had his face turned to her.

"That's because it's not a fight, it's a war," Tobias growled.

Carter punched him in the side of the head and I'm guessing knocked him out.

"That wasn't necessary," Nathan told him.

"That was for lying to each of us for three years," Carter growled at Tobias.

Carla just looked at Carter, not really having any sort of emotion. Her mind was open but I couldn't read her emotions. It was weird.

Tobias suddenly disappeared.

"What the-?" Nathan started.

Carla round house kicked the area where Tobias was, causing him to reappear and start coughing up blood from the impact.

"We need to get him in a cell, get some steel for me Nathan," Carla urged him as she grabbed Tobias by the back of his shirt and dragged him towards Headquarters. I followed behind them.

"Daisy! Baby help me! They're killers, but you, you're not like them, let me save you baby, you're perfect, you're not like them," Tobias said frantically at me.

Funny.

"I am them," I growled.

His face went blank.

"I don't want to have to kill you," Tobias said.

"Funny, looks like that's the one thought we don't share."

"We don't kill," Carla growled at me.

"Your ex boyfriend didn't try to kill you Carla, butt out, this isn't any of your business."

Carla instantly turned around to me. We were already inside headquarters and we were the only three in the room. Carla chucked Tobias at the wall causing him to lay still on the ground. I took a step away from her as she started to approach me.

"I could've killed you Daisy," She growled, "I could've ripped your throat out for finding out who I was."

"But you didn't," I growled back as she grabbed me by my shoulder and shoved me to the wall.

"This became my business the moment you walked into MY house with your arm around a monster made to kill us. It is not my fault you have terrible choices in the men you date. Do not get an attitude with me. It is your fault my whole family's lives are on the line again. So yes, this is my business."

Her forearm was pressed against my throat.

"For someone who doesn't kill, you are extremely violent."

She let me go and took a step back, "Killing is never necessary. Violence is needed to show people that you're not a pushover." She took a deep breath, "Patience makes a good leader and when you are patient enough to not kill someone that you really want to, that makes you strong."

"And what makes you strong Carla?" Tobias butt in, "You fight people who defy you. You threaten people, and you get violent with your friends."

"I get violent with people who bring murderers inside the walls of my home. People who burn my house down. And monsters who threaten to wipe out my entire family," Carla growled.

"Carla," I whispered. She looked at me as I talked. "I know you're stressed, but we need to stick together in order to take care of this problem."

"This war," Tobias added.

Carla picked up a ceramic vase off an end table by me and chucked it at Tobias. It smashed into the wall right above Tobias.

"Shut your mouth," Carla yelled, "You've done enough."

"We haven't even begun," Tobias responded.

"Carla breathe," Carter softly said to Carla as he walked into the room. Liam grabbed Tobias and put him in the holding cell. Nathan walked up to Carla and handed her a little metal bar. Carla used her power and wrapped it around Tobias to keep him still.

Dylan walked in, "What is steel going to do to keep him from going invisible."

"Grannie told me some tricks," Carla explained.

"Grannie, like the old chick I killed?" Dylan asked.

"Yeah," Carla answered, "She was one of them."

"What the-?" Nathan asked, "You killed an old woman?"

"You know I don't have morals, the only reason I haven't killed any of you is because Carla keeps me on a tight leash."

Carla looked at him with a look that could kill.

"And the fact I don't want to kill you all because you've given me a good life the past two years." Dylan added.

Carla nodded and looked at the conference room.

"We need to talk about these monsters, everyone needs to be updated on all the information we have," Carla explained. She looked at me and I could see her changing her appearance so her face wasn't burnt anymore.

If the Cachions wanted war, then we were going to give them one.
