1 .:Chapter 1:. King of Elves

"Your Excellency, Captain Miya has arrived."

The young elf said while kneeling on the marble floor.

The older elf, he who sat on the high throne, rolled back the old scroll he was reading and looked up. "Alright. I won't keep her waiting."

The servant nodded and ran down the hallway to deliver the short message.

Hearing her arrival always made his heart leap with joy. She came to the palace every day to report to him about all the training and happenings in the army. After all, security and safety is what a king must provide to his people. Her arrivals are the highlights of his days.

He stood up and walked down the same hallway his servant ran down and began to fix himself hastily.

"My King!" the young archer said, kneeling on one knee.

"Please, just call me Estes. Rise, Lady Miya," Estes replied with a smile.

Miya stood up with a smirk, "Then call me Miya if I were to call you by your first."

Estes chuckled.

The two grew closer and became friends and no longer had an occasional awkward atmosphere between them. They even joked about each other and Miya found the courage to even touch King Estes with a friendly slap.

So how did Miya look like? She had sky blue hair, like the bright skies. She had dark magenta eyes, nearly violet that looked like the rarest gems.

She was the best archer in the whole kingdom. No one could shoot an arrow like her, much less avoid one.

"So how was the mission?" Estes asked.

"We finally made it to the Land of Dawn in one piece," Miya replied.

"Oh? How was it?" Estes asked, his pointy ears perking up.

"We bumped into Gord, Master of the Mystic Arts. Fortunately, he didn't kill us."

Estes snapped his fingers, a small scroll magically appearing on his hand. He unrolled it quickly. "Gord. Master of the Mystic Arts. Yes, nobody can match his skill and knowledge of the magic."

Miya nodded.

"Much like your archery," Estes added, the scroll disappearing in a puff of blue smoke.

Miya rolled her eyes. "Anyway, Gord told us about Helcurt and his exploits lately. The Land of Dawn is currently a good place for him to find hostages."

"Hostages?"

Miya nodded gravely. "Helcurt has been kidnapping heroes in the Land of Dawn so he can persuade Rafaela to give him the power of the whole Land of Dawn."

Estes held back his gasp. Hostages? Kidnapping heroes? That was a first. Helcurt has been against the Heroes of Light the whole time, but this was a new work.

"I believe Selena is behind all this?" Estes asked.

"Of course," Miya confirmed. "That maniacal woman doesn't rest until the Heroes of Light are dead."

Estes rubbed his chin. "Who are the heroes he captured?"

Miya lifted her fingers and began to count.

"Angela and Minotaur."

"The Healers."

"There's also poor little Nana. According to Harith, the both of them were having a picnic until Helcurt took her away without him looking."

"Also, Odette. Lancelot is currently crying a river after the news," Miya said.

Estes grabbed a quill from his belt and summoned a scroll and began to jot down the names.

"Angela, Minotaur, Nana, and Odette. That's all?"

"Yes. Kaja is badly injured," Miya said.

"We'll go back to the Land of Dawn to tend to him and help Rafaela with this problem."

"But Estes, we barely made it back from the Land of Dawn. Helcurt's scrawny monsters are probably guarding the place with extra care now after I entered."

"But I won't rest until this situation is fixed," Estes replied.

Miya thought to herself deeply.

"Alright. Count me in."

The crowd roared with an applause after the announcement that King Estes and Lady Miya will be off to the Land of Dawn to rescue the kidnapped Heroes of Light. After that, Estes entrusted one archer to take Miya's role for a while and one elf to watch over the kingdom while he is gone.

Everyone gathered at the plaza to bid farewell to their king and to the captain of the archers.

As they walked down the dark road in the forest, Miya kept a watchful eye on her surroundings while Estes was busy reading a scroll he summoned.

"What's that about?" Miya asked in a hushed tone.

"Selena and her comrades. According to this, Helcurt and Leomord have been fighting over the power from Selena," Estes replied.

"Leomord? Isn't he the dead horesman of Selena?"

"Yes, he is. Both are the captains of the Heroes of Dark. However, Helcurt has been gaining a lot of attention from Selena after all these hostages mess," Estes explained.

"What happened to Leomord?" Miya asked as she moved a long branch out of the way.

"He disappeared. Nobody knows why," Estes said as he snapped his fingers, the scroll disappearing.

"But he is still under Selena?"

"Most probably, yes."

Snap!

It sounded like a twig under their feet. But they already stopped walking and knew that someone was nearby.

Miya withdrew her bow and stood in front of Estes, ready to protect her king.

"What can you do?" Miya whispered.

"Heal you. And throw scrolls at them," Estes whispered back.

Suddenly, they saw a cloud of bats decending up in the skies. They heard a howl. But it wasn't by a wolf. It sounded like a young girl.

Out from the bushes came a girl in a red coat with a hood. She had a matching eyepatch and held a long scythe, much taller than her.

"Ruby!" Miya exclaimed.

Ruby looked up at the elves and smiled wide. "Miya! King Estes!"

The two girls ran towards each other and embraced. They hugged tight and finally lets go of each other.

But their moment was short.

"RAAAAH!"

They were startled by the loud voice. And out of nowhere, a force knocked them off their feet.

A figure landed on the ground with a huge glowing sword.
