11 Wet Denim Knight

Anthony leading me by hand, to some funny looking roots sticking up out of the ground and river. They all had flat tops that you could step on. As if reading my mind he took off his shoes and got up on them, offering me his hand to help me up. I quickly took off my shoes, and took his hand again. After taking his hand I paused, it felt different some how, was strong and warm. He lifted me up with ease on to the root. He told me to fallow him, and we jumped from root to root for hours.

Smiling, and laughing it felt so good to have someone to play with me other than Lynn. I never thought the day would come I'd meet someone willing to be my friend. I was so deep in thought and happiness playing, that I had forgotten some important things about myself. Like the fact I never knew how to swim, or about my epilepsy.

Needless to say, after the clouds moved, the sun beaming down on the river was strobing light rays in my eyes as the river current was rapidly flowing. While seizing up and plunging into the river unconscious, Anthony yelled my name in a panic! Emmett and Lynn heard and yelled, "she can't swim"! As everyone ran over to were we were. Before they could make it over, Anthony dove into the river after me. He swam as hard as he could to reach me in his heavy denim jeans. Just as I was going further underwater, he scooped my body in his arms. He battled the rapid current, now not only with denim jeans, but my heavy dress as well.

Nearly almost not making it to shore Emmett grabbed up us both. Anthony began CPR on me, and Lynn lost her composer even more. Emmett held Lynn to calm her down. The old couple was panicking, thinking I was dead. As I came to, puking up water. I didn't know what had just happened, all I knew was that I was wet and hurting. Anthony held me, while Lynn was freaking out. He told her what happened. Lynn said, "She has epilepsy, and not just a simple kind. She doesn't know how to swim, because this trip was her first time seeing lots of water. I shouldn't have let her go off on her own. She isn't strong enough for the real world yet". Anthony told Lynn, "you can't suffocate her either! She obviously doesn't know how to be a kid, or to open up".

I was so shocked that he yelled at Lynn, that I made a sour face. They were both right though. I looked up at him and he stopped, to look down at me. For the first time, I noticed that his eyes were very light blue and lit up like the light on the water. As he watched my face, I stared into his eyes, his light brown wet hair, dripped on my checks. I softly giggled, and sat up. "Anthony, thank you my wet denim Knight.", I said and bowed my head. "You idiot", he sighed with a smile.

After we were all dried up and safe, Anthony introduced me to the old couple I had met. Turned out they were his grandparents after all. He wasn't kidding earlier when he said that they would adore me. They were impressed that I was cleaning up all their campgrounds with out asking for compensation and for being such a polite girl. They even offered my family one of the cabins to stay in, instead of our tents for as long as we needed. I was so grateful and thankful. Anthony's grandmother said, "I hopes you stay a permanent part of Anthony's life. You're a good one". we all laughed and Anthony and I turned beet red.

The day ended so quickly, and I was excited to sleep in a bed for the first time since we left.
