10 The Sports Festival Pt.1 | Ch. 8

Ahhh, the Sports Festival. The time of year you get to see a bunch of high schoolers beat the shit out of each other on live tv. What a great time indeed.

Hiro hates it. He is gonna have dirt in his wings for weeks after this. Do you know how uncomfortable that is? Very uncomfortable. Like being buried in sand at a beach.

Anyway, the first event was an obstacle course. Hiro didn't really mind it, but he wouldn't be able to open his wings such a group. He'd have to hang back to do it and there is no guarantee someone won't sabotage his flight somehow, when he flew over the group he hung back from. So, his best course of action would be to run with all he could until there is a good clear space ahead of other people.

He was in the middle of the pack when they finally started the first event. The first obstacle was robots after the initial dash. The Stale Candy Cane froze the floor which Hiro got caught in. He got out relatively quickly by using life energy to blast the ice at his feet.

So, he caught back up relatively quickly. The next obstacle was a balancing or jumping sort of thing. Lucky for him, he had room to open his wings and fly, so he breezed that obstacle easy and made it across quickly.

He was mid flight making ground fast towards the mines when ice was shot at his wings. Hiro dodged the initial ice wave, but when dodging that his wing got clipping by another one, so he had to land because he couldn't fold it without pain because of the ice.

The third obstacle was a mine field and Hiro was not enjoying it. He knew his wings would set off the mines, so he was kinda scared to keep going. Then a thought came to him, the mine could free his wing with the blast. So, he jumped into the middle of the field and got blasted up.

Present Mic: "WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING YOUR STUDENTS?" He says through the booth.

Aizawa: "I didn't teach them any of this." He corrects.

His wing was set free, so he used that air time to start flying again after steadying himself. He made it through the gate in no time and got around 6th place.

His wing felt a little stiff and numb so he headed to Recovery Girl to see if she could do anything about it.

She gives godly wing massages. She didn't have any patients at the time so she offered to help get the stiffness out. So, he sat on the floor of the infirmary, while she massaged his wings. They have never felt so loose in his life. It was a godly experience. Recovery Girl was even careful of the sensitive parts of his wings. She became a god in Hiro's eyes that day, she doesn't know that and never will.
