1 That fateful night

"Stay Here. Stay quiet, and don't move" the woman's voice told her child as she lifted the bottom stone in the chimney, revealing a small hidden compartment, large enough for the child that she was carrying.

'AWWOOOOOOOOOOO' a wolf's howl shook the house, causing pieces of hay to fall out of the roof, and onto the interior of the home.

The child's sky blue eyes looked into the mother's green, fear was visible in both. tears started to run down the child's face as his hands reached out for his mother's

"what about you?" his tiny voice quivered as he was picked up and placed into the compartment.

"mother will find another place." his mother said with a thin smile. She then grabbed the locket that hung around her neck, and slipped it over his head. "don't worry about me, and stay quiet."

"But mo.." "I'll be fine Little Flame, wait until you don't hear them, then wait some more, you must only leave when you are sure there is nothing around, then make for the city."

"But moth.." "from there you just need to show the locket to the guards and infuse your Flame into it. You'll be safe..."

"AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" a new, louder howl sounded out, causing the child to hold his ears. The mother grabbed the stone again and started closing the compartment.

"Mother, I..." "No, stay quiet" her hand closed into a fist, and the next howl was cut silent.

The child started to cry out, then scream, and no sound came out. As the stone was lowered back onto it's place, the last time that he saw of his mother through his tear stained cheeks was her face with one finger on her lips.

Then the stone was set. a small dust cloud was pushed from the air movement.

Standing up the mother hit the bricks above the compartment and a thick layer of dust hid it's entrance once more. Grabbing the sword above the mantel, and sheathing it to her left hip, she turned to face the rest of the small cottage.

swiftly rushing over to the bundle of arrows, and grabbing the wooden bow that was placed next to them, swinging the arrows into the quiver on her right hip.

The door splintered into several pieces, but still no sound came of it. The hulking mass of a beast was revealed behind the now broken door.

With an arrow quickly knocked and loosed into one glowing eye, and then another in the other eye, the beast fell, it's claws reaching up in pain. It's pain was short lived as the arrowheads exploded, causing the beast's skull to shatter. Over it's body came another beast, which befell the same fate as the first.

Over the two bodies came the Huntress, bow up and arrow knocked. The clearing was ablaze with light, as beastly shadows danced through with fierce speed. several mangled bodies lay on the ground.

"Get out of my Property you Filthy Beasts!" The Huntress said as she left the area of silence, loosing several arrows towards the shadows, which answered with several yips of pain, followed by a dull thump, as the arrows exploded.

Several shadows rushed forward, revealing themselves to be Were-beasts, two of them were quickly met with arrows to the eyes before the huntress unsheathed her blade to slice the claw that came at her from the side.

With a duck and another slice, the snarling head fell off the beast's neck. three more claws immediately followed, two of which missed the agile Huntress, the third caught her back, racking through her clothes and into her back.

"Meet the power of THUNDER!" The huntress cried, her hands crackled with electrical energy as she shoved out. A powerful wave of thunder washed over the surroundings, electrocuting the beasts.

With a turn and a quick stab to the next rushing beast's gut, she cut through the adversary.

"not ever a few feet from my door and already injured, just great" the huntress mumbled as she sheathed her sword and readied her bow as she rushed towards the forest.

'AWOOOOOO YIP' a howl was cut short as the arrow flew into the beast's eye.

Five more beasts turned, towards the huntress, ten more rushed out of the forest on the opposite side of the clearing.

"just a few beasts passing through he said, don't worry about it he said, they won't attack us he said, well look what happens Brandon when you don't let the Huntress do her damn job!" the huntress yelled at the disemboweled corpse of Brandon, the beast who killed him headless from an earlier arrow.

Retrieving the knife that was stuck shallowly in the beast's neck and placing it into her belt, she turned back to the growing crowd of beast now numbering in the thirties.

"well this sucks. please stay quiet child. Come and get me you filthy beasts" A fog cloud appeared around the point where the huntress was standing and she bolted into the forest. The beasts hearing what was obviously a challenge rushed after her.
