Alex quickly hugged Nikolai from the back, giving him a length of rope while holding an end, before turning and walking out of the forest. He'd use this to find his way back in. He trailed his way back to the edge of the field, tying the rope to a low branch. He then trudged through the long grass to his bike.

Nikolai knew what to do with the rope. He let it slide through his hands as Alex dragged it behind him. Once the tugging had stopped he tied it to a low branch and hauled him and his bag up into the tree.
