3 The King’s Son

Xue Qin awakened. His eyes drifted around the mysterious room he was in. There were many golden items and the place was spaciously huge. He sat up and placed his fingers on his temple and rubbed them. His head throbbed in pain.

The wooden doors opened and someone who looked like a king, appeared. "How dare you embarrass me like that?!" He shouted angrily at Xue Qin. Discombobulated, Xue Qin looked at the him and asked, "What did I do?"

The King, Chen Zhang Yong, was furious, "As my son you need to learn to not embarrass me! You will become next king one day and if you keep miserably failing and acting like this how are you going to live your damn life!?"

Xue Qin decided to play along, "Oh right.. I won't embarrass you next time.." The King turned towards the door, "That's it, and around 3pm come to the court for a meeting." After he had left, Xue Qin blankly stared at the shut door, "Next King? I'm the son of a King?" He began confusing himself.

Seconds later a maid came in the room holding a wooden tray that had bowls of food on. "Your lunch," she quietly said as she gave him the food. He looked at the food, "oh..thanks." Before she even left he quickly asked her, "Lady! Can you tell me where I am and what happened??" She turns around, "I am in no position for you to call me a Lady."

Xue Qin raises his eyebrows, "Then what are you?" She bows, "Your Highness, I am just a mere servant." He felt awkward being called such a powerful name, "Okay.. so where am I and what happened?"

The maid never lift her head up as she spoke, "His Highness lost an archery tournament with other Princes. Got into a fight in front of the public eyes. You are now at home, here in Jin Xing Palace."

He asked her another question, "What about Jiang Da Xia? Where is she?" The maid answers again, "I no nothing of a 'Jiang Da Xia' perhaps you were just dreaming about someone." Xue Qin nodded just head, "Alright, you can leave now. Thanks for answering my questions." The maid hurriedly leaves the room.

He remembers the car accident, "Da Xia...where are you.. what happened to us?" He lies back down on his bed, "I hope she's doing okay."

Another knock comes from the door, "Your Highness, I've brought you your clothes," a Eunuch said. Xue Qin sighs and walks over to open the doors. The Eunuch also had his head down, "The meeting will begin soon, please put on your royal robe."

At the court room, the King sat in his throne and there were chancellors, historians, ambassadors and many more. Xue Qin awkwardly walked up the stairs and stood beside Chen Zhang Yong, the King.

Everyone below them bowed and welcomed them in the court room. Then, one of the Chancellors began talking, "Your Majesty, there are news of flooding at Fei Tian Village. What should we do?" Zhang Yong looks up, "Evacuate all the residents and be sure to give them food and drinks." The Chancellor nods his head.

Another Chancellor begins to speak, "Since His Majesty is becoming of old age, I suggest that His Highness get married soon and have a son." The other members in the court begins agreeing upon the suggestion.

Xue Qin widens his eyes then speaks out, "I AM already married, well not yet.. but will be! I've already proposed to her!" Everyone including the King looked at him.

"Who is this 'woman' that you proposed to without my permission?" Chen Zhang Yong looked agitated. Xue Qin answered him honestly, "Jiang Da Xia. She's a wonderful, big hearted person with a beautiful personality. However I lost sight of her, though I'm positive I'll be able to find her."

The chancellors and ambassadors begins talking to each other. Then, one of them speaks out, "Your Majesty, should we look into this 'Jiang Da Xia?'" Another ambassador talks to Xue Qin, "We cannot allow you to go near other woman unless His Majesty arranges your marriage with a woman he knows."

Zhang Yong replies, "Look into the woman. I'll see if she's good or not and will hold a meeting with her privately." Xue Qin was a bit worried, but did not say anything because he did not want to anger the King any further. He only thought about Da Xia to keep his calm.
