Earlier that afternoon, Mu Ru sat in Xi Muxue's Maserati, and they went out together. It was the first time they had been together in the same car.

Xi Muxue had already learned how to drive on her sixteenth birthday. She had asked her father, Xi Yuancheng, to buy her a car that same year. She had gotten her driver's license on her eighteenth birthday.

Ever since Xi Muxue got her driver's license, she had been driving to and from school every day. Meanwhile, Mu Ru would commute or ride a bicycle every day to school. She had never been given the chance to sit in Mu Xue's car before because Mu Xue never asked her to go with her.

Xi Muxue was not in a particularly good mood that day because she did not receive twenty thousand yuan for her birthday. She drove with a gloomy face and did not say a word to Mu Ru.

Mu Ru did not want to talk to her, so she kept her face turned towards the window as Mu Xue drove. She told Mu Xue she wanted to get off when they reached the commercial street because she wanted to buy a gift for Mother Wang.

She had previously asked Mother Wang to resign, but Mother Wang had called Mu Ru several days back and told her that she was offered a raise. Mother Wang was told by Du Xinyue that the Xi family had gotten used to her cooking and that they could not afford to let her suddenly leave the Xi family. Du Xinyue told her that it would be difficult for her to find a replacement, and Mother Wang was offered a raise so she would stay.

When Mother Wang told Mu Ru about it, Mu Ru did not say anything more. After all, Mother Wang was a middle-aged, uneducated woman. After getting out of the car, Mu Ru went straight into a large wholesale clothing shop. There were also other shops, but the products were quite expensive. Many of the clothing styles and fabrics were the same, and manufacturers would just change the logo and hang it in the stores to fool consumers. It could be several times or even ten times more expensive.

The large wholesale market on the shopping street was at the back, which was a relatively remote place. It was often visited by those from out of town. It was also where owners of clothing businesses would put their items for sale on display.

Mu Ru walked around for a while. She didn't have much money on her and she didn't even have enough money to buy a coat, so she bought a cotton-lined coat and a pair of gloves for Mother Wang. Mother Wang's hands would always end up getting cracked during the winter season.

After she had bought what she needed, she thought of walking towards the bus stop at the end of the commercial street. It was still quite early, so she thought she could take the bus back to the Xi family home.

To get to the bus stop, she had to cross the overpass. Just as she was about to get to the overpass, she suddenly saw a Maserati parked beside her. She was wondering if it was Xi Muxue's car, but before she could figure it out, the car door had already been pulled open from the inside. Then, a hand reached out and pulled her into the car.

"Hey, is that Mu Xue? Aren't you..." She opened her mouth instinctively to ask, but before she could finish her sentence, someone had stuffed her mouth with a piece of cloth.

Before she could react, someone had put a black cloth bag over her head. Everything was pitch black, and she could not see anything clearly.

She had no idea to whom the Maserati belonged to, but she knew that it could not be Xi Muxue's because there was more than one person in the car. There were at least two people in it.
