24 Chapter 24 meeting the Poor sister-in-law

"I'll call him right now."

Dongfang Mo took out his phone and turned his wheelchair as he dialed Dongfang Yu's number. It was clear that he did not want Dongfang Jun to accompany Mu Ru back to the Xi family.

Mu Ru finished her meal and nodded to Dongfang Mei and Dongfang Jun before heading upstairs. She was returning home that day. She was going to meet someone named Gui Ning, so she prepared herself.

However, she really could not do anything about her situation. There were clothes that have been bought by her family specifically for Mu Xue, but now they were all hers.

She was sitting in her room for more than an hour until there was a knock on the door.

She immediately went to open the door. Mother Liu was standing outside the door.

Mother Liu said, "Second Young Master has returned. He's waiting for you downstairs. Hurry up and go downstairs."

Mu Ru picked up a small bag that she had bought at the market for twenty yuan during the summer vacation. Then, she quickly went downstairs.

When she walked out of the door, Dongfang Yu was already waiting for her in the car. When he saw the bag in her hand, he frowned.

Mu Ru glared at him fiercely. She couldn't be bothered with him. She pulled open the passenger door and got into the car.

"Just drive. What does it have to do with you anyway?"

"What? Of course it has to do with me," Dongfang Yu answered.

Dongfang Yu started the car.

He pursed his lips in annoyance and said, "You're the first lady of the Dongfang family and my sister-in-law. You're embarrassing the Dongfang family by carrying such a bag. Do you know that?"

"I don't have any other bags," Mu Ru retorted sarcastically.

Mu Ru was flushed with annoyance.

"The Dongfang family is embarrassed, not the Xi family. What am I supposed to be afraid of?" she asked sternly.

Dongfang Yu was rendered speechless by what she said. He quickly stepped on the gas pedal as the car sped. Mu Ru was so scared that she quickly held on to the seat belt. She turned pale from nervousness. 'This damn Dongfang Yu. Does he want to die?' she thought.

Even though Mu Ru was the Xi family's eldest daughter, she had grown up with the servants and had only ridden a car twice.

The first time was when she was awarded as the top scorer in the college entrance exam. Her father, Xi Yuancheng, accompanied her to receive the award. The second time was when she and Dongfang Mo married. The Dongfang family sent a luxurious car to fetch her, but Mu Ru had no idea what the brand of the car was.

Dongfang Yu drove very fast. The Dongfang family lived in the eastern suburbs, while the Xi family lived in the western suburbs. They had to go through Binhai City to get to the Xi family home. Dongfang Yu parked the car at a mall in the city.

"Get out of the car and buy a bag," Dongfang Yu said sternly.

Dongfang Yu turned to look at Xi Muru, who was sitting in the passenger seat.

In an unpleasant tone, he said, "I don't want you to embarrass the Dongfang family."

"I don't have money," she answered.

Xi Muru was telling the truth. Dongfang Mo was stunned.

She added, "The ten million that your brother gave me was for me to give to my father. I can't just spend it."

"I'll give you a bag," he muttered.

Dongfang Yu shrugged as he got out of the car.

"According to tradition, newlywed women give their brothers-in-law red envelopes as soon as they join the family. However, since I have a poor sister-in-law, I have no choice but to give her a gift instead of asking her to give me something."

Mu Ru answered, "You don't have to give me a gift, actually."
