5 An Awkward Situation

"Yes! It's 3:45 p.m. Hey, guys! It's time to go home." Celine packed her bags cheerfully.

"Hey! What's gotten into you today? You look so excited to go home." Davina goggled at Celine.

"Davina is right. This is unlike you. Normally, you never want to go home early saying you are tired of doing house chores after school." Isla chuckled.

"Today is a special day for me. Did you remember my cousin, Karen, from before? She is the same age as ours. After her family move abroad, we don't see each other for the past two years. They will be visiting us today. I'm so excited." Celine chortled.

"Really? What a good news! I remember you sobbing so much the day they move abroad." Davina sniggered.

"Yeah! I remember too. It was two years ago, while we were at 8th grade. You almost cried your eyes out that day." Isla looked at Celine and laughs.

"Yes. That day, you're like this." Davina mimicked Celine crying expression. The three girls laughed in merriment.

"Sure, I admit. Stop teasing me already! Come on, let's go home."

"Wait! Isn't Karen's older brother that handsome cousin of yours? I forgot his name. Oh! I remember. It's Jaden. Isn't it?" Davina assumed curiously.

Celine laughed. "Yes. What? Did you still have a crush on him?"

"He's really Jaden. Celine, I will come to your house too. Take me with you. Please." Davina begged Celine jokingly.

Again Davina appeased Isla jokingly. "Isla, come with us too. It will not be fun without you. I'll buy you some snacks. Okay?"

Isla smiled. "Fine, let's go. Stop appeasing me!"

The three friends leave their classroom. As they reached the school main gate, they saw August standing alone, seeming to wait someone. They approached him.

"Hi, August! What are you doing here all alone?" Davina gestured Isla, deliberately.

"Oh! Hi. I'm waiting for John. Dylan and John prepared an economics project together. But Dylan went home early today due to family problem. He need to finish the project by today. So, he asked me to hand over the project to him. John is on his way here to give me the project. Would you like to come with me, Isla? Your house is not far from mine; I'll drop you off after meeting Dylan."

Isla was delighted.

August looked a bit confused. "Did you have plans with your friends, Isla?"

Davina soon barged in their conversation. "We planned to visit Celine house to take a glance at her handsome cousin. He is a great guy; so we plan to make him Isla's boyfriend."

August looked amazed. Isla glowered at Davina, looking embarrassed. Davina smiled awkwardly. "Just kidding."

Celine soon intrude at the awkward situation. "Davina will visit my house. You can have Isla for today, August."

"Lets go, Davina." Celine shoved Davina and the two walk away. Isla can't say a word due to embarrassment.

August soon comprehend Isla's state as he knew her personality well - a shy and reserved girl.

"Hey! Don't be like that. It's unpleasant for me. You're 16 years old. Having a boyfriend is not a sin!" joked August, which makes Isla's laughed.
