8 "Why Did He Do This To Me?"

A month later; Isla's house

"Congrats! I always believed that you could do this, Isla. How come you're good in everything?" Davina howled in excitement.

"Yeah, Davina. We should be proud that our dear friend secured the highest marks in the whole school. You deserve for sure, Isla. You don't even made a contact with us for a whole month and only studied. I was afraid that you might be hospitalized" said Celine, jokingly.

"Ah! That's enough for the congratulatory part. You two did a good job too! I won't be able to achieved this without you guys." Isla laughed.

"Hmm we didn't do anything. Then tell me. Why don't you want a party for your success?

Our other friends were so eager to celebrate your achievement" ask Davina.

"I don't need a party. You both know that I don't like social gatherings. I always feel uncomfortable when surrounded by many people."

While they were chatting, someone knocked the door. Isla went to open the door. Surprisingly, it was August.

"Hi, Isla. How are you?"

Isla was astonished. "Hi! I'm fine. Why did you come here? Oh! Come inside."

Davina and Celine were so shocked to see August.

"Oh! Davina and Celine were also here. Did I disturbed you guys?" August ask out of courtesy.

"No, not really. What brings you here?" Isla looked a bit unpleasant.

"I heard from Alvin that you scored the highest marks in the whole school. I came to congratulate you." Handing over a gift box to Isla "Here, this is for you."

Isla was hesitant to received August's gift. Davina soon barged in between them and received August's gift for Isla. "Oh! August. How thoughtful of you!"

August was amazed by Isla's action. "Then I'll be going. I won't disturb you guys anymore."

"Why so hurry? You even brought gift for Isla. Have some snacks with us" said Davina, out of courtesy.

"A friend waits for me outside. But thanks for inviting me."

As August leave Isla's house, Davina take a peek at him. She saw Scarlett standing near August's bike. Soon August and Scarlett rodes the bike and leaved.

Isla stood still, not knowing what to do.

"Hey! Don't just stand. Come and sit. Did August startled you that much?" Davina laughed.

Isla sit and looked at the gift August bought for her. Her friends urged her to open as soon as possible. As she opened the gift, there was a nice and valuable wristwatch.

"Wow! August is so thoughtful. This watch will suit you perfectly, Isla." Davina chortled.

"I can't understand August. Why did he do this to me? I spend the whole month trying to forget him. I studied like crazy hoping it would help me forget about him. I ignored all his calls and messages for the previous month. Now, he suddenly showed up in my house; giving me some gift, making my heart beats so fast again. If he didn't like me, why did he do this to me? Why is he so nice to me? Why did he keep giving me hope?" Isla's mind was full of questions.

"Actually, I saw Scarlett outside before. I think she came with August" said Davina with a low tone voice.

"He's still the same. He doesn't changed at all." Isla was disappointed.

"Girls like Scarlett are nothing for August. I can tell that August respects you and value you. But as a friend or more than a friend; only him knows the answer" said Celine.

"Whatever, it's not his fault. I was the one who loved him without him knowing for two years. He didn't know how I feel about him. If he knows, he will not be good to me like this. I'm sure that he will distanced himself from me." Isla stared at the wrist watch.

"Then, why don't you consider telling him about your feelings?" Celine suggested.

Both Isla and Davina looked amazed.

"No way! I can't believe that I hear such things from you and not Davina." Isla was disconcerted.

"I believe that you will know what to do only after he knows the truth. Your mind will also be assured after two long years." Celine glanced at Isla.

"I support what Celine said" said Davina.

"Never! I can never ever do this!"
