6 "What's Wrong With Me?"

Dylan's House

August and Isla are sitting at the living room. Isla felt a bit uncomfortable as it was her first time there. August was the mood maker, talking about some jokes and his weird experience with Dylan.

August and Dylan are best friends since the age of 7, while they are in 1st grade. From that day onwards, they attend the same school every year. As they always stick together, people often says that they look alike, much to August frustration. But for someone like August, who has a complicated life; Dylan has always been a great friend who knows all his weakness and accepts him the way he is.

Dylan brought some coffee and snacks for August and Isla.

"Thanks for accompanying August, Isla. I was so glad to see you." Dylan glanced August in a peculiar way.

August glowered at Dylan. "Hey! Don't look at me like that. I know what's on your mind. She's not like those girls you know. She is completely different from them. She's just a friend. Put away all your dirty thoughts!"

Dylan was amused by August words and action. "Hey! I'm your best friend. What do you take me for? I'm not like you!"

Hearing the two friends arguing, Isla giggled. Dylan glanced Isla and then looked at August. "Did you say 'just a friend'? So, is Isla that friend you mentioned today morning? Isn't it?"

August looked displeased. "Hmm forget about it."

"What friend?" Isla looked curious.

Dylan was exhilarated. "This morning, August asked me if I ever saw him as a loving and caring person. I was so amazed by it and asked him who say those things to him. He say that it was just a friend. He didn't want to tell me who it was. Further, he even asked me..."

Before Dylan finished, August barged in their conversation. "Hey! That's enough. I was a fool for asking you such things." August looked embarrassed.

Isla chuckles as she saw August getting awkward.

"I didn't expect you to be that friend." Dylan whispered.

August went out to the corridor. Isla went after him.

"Did I offended you, August? If that's the case, I'm sorry. I didn't ask Dylan on purpose." Isla seemed to feel guilty.

August glanced at Isla and smiled. "No, Isla. That's not the case. I feel like someone caught me doing something wrong. Ah! It's so embarrassing. Dylan has a big mouth."

"There's nothing to be embarrassed about. Someone told you that you are a loving and caring person; so you want to know if it is true or not. Then you asked your best friend, whom you think would know you best. That's not a big deal." Isla explained.

"Yeah. I don't know why I behave like this. What's wrong with me? So childish. It's getting late. Your family might worry about you. I'll drive you home" said August with a sly smile.

"Sure."

Isla followed August out of Dylan's house.
