10 "Not me!"

Isla was all alone at her house; thinking about all the things Davina and Celine told her.

'Are they really my friends? How can they tell me to confess my feelings to him? It is clear that he will reject me.' She thought to herself.

Even if she confessed her feelings to August, she doubt that he will like her back. But she didn't allow the past two years she spent loving him, to be in vain. She was afraid that she will be a laughing stock! Despite all the possible outcomes, the way August would saw her, was her top priority.

How will August thought of her? Will he thought that she was just a shameless and disgraced girl, like the girls he used to date? Just the thought of it made Isla so nervous that she was covered by sweat.

It's 4 pm in the evening. Isla was sitting all alone in one of the rooms of her big house. The whole house was so still that the ticking of the clock in the main room can be heard clearly and loudly, as the sound of a drum.

Isla was resting one of her elbow on the table, placing the chin on her hand. By looking at her face, one can tell that her mind was occupied by something which makes her unpleasant.

At that moment, someone rang the door bell. As Isla was occupied by her thoughts, she didn't even heard the sound of the door bell. At the fourth time, the sound of the door bell aroused Isla from her thoughts. 'Who will it be at this hour?' Isla thought to herself as she opened the door.

The boy who occupied all her thoughts, whom she had truly loved secretly for the past two years, August, was standing at the door; much to Isla's astonishment. She gazed at him, with her eyes wide opened. Soon getting ahold of herself, she can tell that something's wrong with him, by the look at his face.

"Oh! It's you, August. I was wondering who would it be. What brings you here at this hour? Please come in." She welcomed him with a gentle smile and a soft voice.

As he heard the soft voice of the girl who was standing before him, August felt refreshing like a soft wind blowing at his tired face. He entered the house with a bit hesitation.

After August had a seat, Isla hurried to the kitchen to make some coffee for her guest. She recalled her heart pounded like crazy as something's hitting on her head, when she saw August standing at her door. But rather than playing with her feelings like a foolish child, she soon realized that knowing and comprehending the problems of her love should come first. Then she approached him and gave him the coffee.

"Thanks, Isla." August said in a calm voice. Isla sat beside him to inquired his problems.

"What's going on, August? You seemed to be unwell. Did you have an argument with your father?" Isla asked August with a curious look, but a soft voice.

'How come this girl always noticed whenever I had a problem? Can she read my mind?' He thought to himself as his mind was flooded by questions.

"You don't need to tell me if you don't want. Dont worry, August. Whatever your problem is, it will be fine." Isla comforted him with a warm voice and a soft smile.

The lovely and attractive smile fascinated August. How comfortable he was! He felt as all his problems and worries were lifted off of his shoulders. He even thought that he was having a dream - a nice and beautiful one. But a voice that says 'August!' soon waked him up from his fantasy! He find himself staring at Isla for a while! Then he gawked.

"What is it, August?" Isla smiled. August shifted his eyes rapidly from her and blushed! It was the first time August ever blush in front of a girl!

'What the hell is happening to me? Normally, if a girl is with me, she is the one to blush, not me!' He thought to himself in astonishment.

Isla too was amazed by August behaviour. "Since you came here, you only said 'thanks'. You looked different today. Are you sick?" Isla placed her hand on August forehead and repeated the same to herself. "But you are fine." She said.

In that moment when Isla placed her hand on his forehead, August was vague on the inside, nearly losing his calmness. Though Isla looked composed, she too was vague and her heart was beating faster and faster; which August was unaware of. She barely maintained her calmness too!

Maybe because Isla secretly loved August for the past two years, she was an expert at hiding her feelings. Everytime she was with August, her mind was swamped by her feelings which she barely managed to control....
