7 "Let Go Of My Feelings"

It was the last day of school before exam. Most students were very excited as their holidays will start right after they finished their exams. While some were sad as they would soon part ways with their friends. Isla and her two friends sat under the big banyan tree inside the school campus.

"Isla, did you say your father will be transferred to another place by the beginning of new academic session?" Davina felt desolated.

"Yeah. Fortunately, it's a place where my older sister works. We finally have a chance to live together after 4 years; so all my family will move and leave this place. I'm not sure about my future yet. I can stay at my aunt's place if I wish to continue school here. But my mom wants me to leave with them because she will be worried about me. As you know, my mom always worried a lot for nothing. But I don't want to leave you guys." Isla looked busy minded.

"I think you want to stay here because of August. You can live without us, but not without August." Celine joked.

"Hey! Who say I can't live without him?" Isla laughed.

They soon heard someone voice just beside them. As they glanced around, they saw August with Scarlett, one of the popular girls in their school who was their classmate.

"August, didn't you promised me that you will have a date with me on the last day of school?"

"Sure, Scarlett. Then where would you like to go?"

"I'm not sure. You can choose the location."

August pulled Scarlett closer. "Then what about my house? No one will be there for today."

Scarlett giggled and kissed August on the cheek. "Fine. You're the best!"

Isla stared at August and Scarlett in despair, until they were out of her sight. Celine and Davina glanced at Isla and noticed she was in a miserable state. A single teardrop rolled down Isla's face.

"Maybe I need to leave because of him." Isla whispered.

Before her friends responded, Isla continues. "Excuse me, guys. I'll leave early today."

Isla leaved the school campus in a hurry. Her friends were disconcerted.

Isla went to her room as soon as she reached home. She stayed there till dawn and even skipped dinner. All her family were not home that day. Unexpectedly, Celine and Davina came to visit her.

"Hi, guys. Why did you come here unannounced?" Isla forced a smile.

"You just leave us like that today. We were worried about you. Where are your family?" Celine stared at Isla, deliberately.

"My father is still at work and my mom went to visit our distance relatives. She might spend the night there."

The three girls were quiet for a while.

"Thanks for being so considerate, guys. But don't worry about me. I'm fine. You know those things happened all the time. I used to take it for granted. But I don't know why it hurts so much today. I have no idea." Isla continues.

"Maybe because your feelings for him were more stronger than before. And what kind of human being could take such things for granted? No one has a heart made of steel!" said Davina, who was always a mood maker among the trio.

"Look, who's talking about heart and feelings?" Isla laughed.

"Why wouldn't you just confess your feelings to him?" Davina suggested.

"No way! I didn't want to be friend zoned. It might even destroy our friendship." Isla refused.

"Isla is right, Davina. We all know August character and actions well. Isla will only be humiliated. And for you, Isla. Don't worry about your friendship so much. You don't think of him as an ordinary friend anyway. You cannot stay beside him forever as a friend" said Celine with a serious face.

"You're right, Celine. Maybe it's time for me to make a final decision." Isla looked downhearted.

The three friends chat till late at night talking about Isla's problems and their upcoming exam.

After Davina and Celine went home, Isla stayed up all night, thinking about what to do with her feelings. She said to herself "I think it's time for me to let go of my feelings."
