Master Boros pov

Boros slowly makes his way to the his classroom to the students, as he enters he sees the young boys and girls who will be the future of the academy, most of the them are 10 nameday old with a very few at most year younger than that

Seeing the young geniuses who came from all over the seven kingdoms to learn bending arts to the Royal Academy of Bending Arts, the academy that was built by the order of King Jaehaerys the frist hundreds of years ago on the Visenya's hill

Now it's the best place to learn the bending arts in the seven kingdoms at least for Earth and Fire bending arts, for Air and Water arts there is the Winter Academy in the north

As such to get admitted to the royal academy genius class is no small feet, to enter here a person must the perfectly display the basics of their elements in front of the judges to pass, it might sound simple to master the basics before 10 nameday but every year from all of the seven kingdoms hardly 100 students make it in the genius batch

While there are other batches that one can enter with gold that have less stringent requirements but the difference between genius batch and others is as big as the wall

Take Boros himself, he mastered the basics at 12, the two year difference might not seem much but it is vast as the sky, even after puting everything into his bending arts for decades he became a Master fire bender at the old age of 53, even though he was the best among the his batch, even though he spent all his time training that his wife and son got fed up and left him, it took him five decades to become a master

Even though he is master fire bender now and a teacher at the royal academy he teaches theory instead of actual bending arts, as he became a expert of bending arts theory in his drive to become a bending master, while his friend from the genius batch became a master bender at 32 and achieved glory in many battles, his friend is now the head of fire bending arts in the academy and one of the top master fire bender in the seven kingdoms,Boros was able to get this teacher position in the academy largely due to his friend's help, this is the difference between geniuses and others when it comes to bending arts

But he doesn't have time to think about this he had a class to teach, "Students as you know the theory class is coming to an end,for the next 6 years you all will learn actual bending arts from top masters but to do that you have to properly know the theory too, as your theory exams are coming I am now going to test you all"

"Explain bending" he said pointing to one of the students

"Bending is the act using the natural energy to manipulate and bend the elements around us,this energy flows through everyone but only about half the people can actually use it to bend the elements,every bender can only bend one of the elements"

Satisfied with answer he pointed to another student "what are the major elements?"

"The four major elements are Earth,Air,Water and Fire, while there sub elements like Ice, Sand, metal etc but every type of elemental bending comes under the four major elements, even though they are called sub elements it doesn't mean a Major element bender can bend all the sub elements that come under it, for example a water bender can only bend water and an ice bender can only bend ice even though they are the same thing in different states, but there are exceptions to this a extremely powerful and experienced water bender can freeze his water an bend ice and vice versa but they can never have the same proficiency over the second element like a natural bender of that element would,this is called as half mastery of second element,but this is extremely rare as the most benders spend their entire life just to master their one element"

"Good answer, How are the benders ranked?" He said pointing to another

"Benders are ranked in three ranks, novice, expert and master, nearly 90% of benders in the world come under Novice rank, these benders have to to do the entire body movements to actually bend their elements and even so the results are very limited, most people in this rank are never trained or didn't have enough talent to become an expert even after years of training, Expert rank benders are benders that can bend with just the movement of their limbs and their bending is strong enough to be able to fight in battles, a bender can become an expert bender only if they have enough talent and years of training, then there are Master benders, these benders are so powerful and in tune with the natural energy that they can bend with just minimalistic movements and their bending is so strong that a master bender alone can turn the tide of an entire battle, some of top level master Benders have such mastery of bending they don't even need movements to bend, but becoming a Master bender is incredibly difficult so much so that even in the entire seven kingdoms there are only about a 1000 master benders"

He nodded satisfied with the answer and pointed to another student " Tell me about the other type of bending"

"Other than the elemental bending there is a other bending it is called as body energy bending, these benders have the ability to bend the natural energy like elemental benders but they lack their own element, so they bend the natural energy to make their bodies stronger than the human limits, when these benders have enough mastery of their energy and skill in a weapon they are called as Weapon Masters, they can coat their weapons in their energy so they can slice through the bending of an elemental bender, there are only two ranks for weapons master Expert and Master, for example a sword weapon master is called a sword expert only after he can cut through the bending of an expert elemental bender, then to become a Sword Master he has to cut through the bending of Master bender, some of the top level Sword Masters are Ser Jamie, Ser Barristan and Ser Arthur of the king's guard, to be a master rank Weapon master is the requirement to join the king's guard, while to become a knight a person must at least be a expert rank Weapon Master"

"Then how do the bodies of benders differ from normal humans"

"As benders manipulate the natural energy over time due to this energy their bodies get stronger, it is easier to say for weapon masters because they directly use this energy to make their bodies stronger so an Expert rank Weapon Master is 2-3 times stronger than normal humans in all aspects and a master rank is 5-6 times stronger, but for elemental benders it varies from person to person, there were some expert benders whose bodies were strong as a sword master and there were master benders who had normal human physiology"
