When I Became The Prince
((Y/n POV))
For some reason I can't seem to have a decent slumber . My heart kept on beating like crazy, perhaps cause of Finn, his actions last night made me nervous PLUS he's sleeping besides me. I think I started snoring at exactly 4am ... Right now, not sure what time it is but I can hear Cake and Fionna from a distance.. My eyes are still close so not sure what they're doing. Can't hear Finn though, maybe he's still asleep?
Finally my eyes fluttered open, before I could even see Fionna and Cake, Finn already attracted my attention.. Why?
BECAUSE HE'S LITERALLY STARING AT ME!! He's sitting way too close and his eyes were fixated on my face as if he's been watching me sleep for an entire hour.
The moment he noticed me staring back at him, his eyes wondered off away to avoid my silly questions such as 'Are you a creep?' or something.
"Good Morning Finn" I forced a smile on my face.
"Great timing Y/n. Ya know Finn had been watching you for hours" Fionna giggled after telling me that.
"H-hey! I was not!" Finn defended upon blushing so hard from embarrassment.
"He probably fell in love with your cute sleeping face Y/n" Fionna giggled again. Is it just me or I could imagine some devilish horns growing on top of her head while she laughs in an evil way.
"Well I thought I look like an ogre while sleeping. I guess Finn has weird taste" I said in a sarcastic manner which gave Fionna and Cake the laugh of a life time
"I- it's not it Y/n. I was so excited to ask you for an adventure, that I waited for you to wake up" Finn explained.
"Well yeah. Y/n , you two should eat and go head straight to the mountains" Cake said with a wink.
"What's this adventure all about?" I asked out of curiosity.
"It's the book of magic Y/n! They said one of the spell holds the ability to bring a person back to its original world! We can go home!" I'm glad to see Finn talk excitedly like that but if the book can bring us back to our world? Does it mean I'll be back to the world where I usually belong? To where mom died? To that cruel discriminating, judgemental world of humans?
I was spacing out a bit when Finn pinched my cheek to wake me up.
"Y/n. You're spacing out for quite some time. So are you in or out?" Finn asked removing his hand off my cheek.
"Alright I'll come with you" Finally i answered without thinking things through.
"Let's eat breakfast" Finn grabbed my hand , pulling me into the table and we have our Fried rice, very own bacon fried rice. I must say Cake really is a good chef.
"Compliments for the chef" I held out a glass indicating my adoration towards Cake. They all laugh their hearts out

Afte an hour Finn and I prepared for our new adventure but turns out Marshal Lee tags along. Finn has been staring at my vampire, fake boyfriend as we head towards a huge dungeon.
"Hey kid, even if you send daggers towards me. I won't die." Marshal finally started a conversation with Finn but it didn't stop Finn from glaring at him.
"By the way Finn..." Marshal whispered something to Finn . Of course I couldn't hear a single word but I'm sure it's embarrassing since Finn's face turn red after hearing it.
"I'm right, aren't I?" Marshal asked the blushing boy before Finn nodded.
What are they talking about?
"Guys we're here!" I interrupted their secret conversation before we all entered the huge cave like entrance.
As we arrived at the middle, three path way blocked out sight. The problem is, which one holds the book of magic and which two holds a prank? I wonder.
"Guys we need to seperate from here" I broke the silence and they both glanced over.
"Too early to break up with me Y/n" Marshal said in a sarcastic way . I literally gave him a strong punch on the shoulder.
"I'm sorry princess" He responded with a smirk, somehow I responded with a glare.
"I'll take the first passage. Y/n make sure you stay safe" Marshal wrapped his hands on my hand.
"Don't worry about me Marshal. I am tougher than Ice Queen"
"Alright tough girl. We'll see each other again" He started floating towards the first passage.
"Finn I'll be taking the second one and you go to the third. Let's both stay safe alright?"
"I'm used to dungeons Y/n. Take care okay? Are you sure you can do it alone?"
"Of course Finn"
"Then I trust you"
We both walked into our chosen passage at the same time. Right now I'll have to face obstacles alone, no matter how hard it could be.
To be honest the passage I chose seems kinda boring, nothing really is in it except for spiderwebs and dust. I grew tired of walking so I used a bit of my mana to create a magical transportation wind wherein I could ride on it , making my adventure a bit faster.
Not sure if I'm right, but I swear I'll be the first one to exit this dungeon.
The wind brought me in front of a red altar with a thick red book standing in the middle. Must be the magical book Finn was talking about.
But this place seems odd, if it is a dungeon, it sure needs to have traps , right? But my passage leads me directly here. It probably wants anyone to take the book. Sounds interesting, why don't I try?
Without even thinking about my future, I grab hold of the book...
Everything is the same, nothing changed till.
A huge pain on every part of my body started, as if I'm covered with fire. I kept squirming from pain and my eyes shuts off, till I lost my consciousness, leaving me in complete darkness.
Argh my head kept throbbing as if it's being stabbed a lot of times. I feel so weak. Opening my eyes became too hard for me, luckily I managed to open them.
What happened? The cave seems bigger than before and the altar it looks like a house than a table. More importantly the book is humongous either. What's happening?!
I have a short glimpse of my hand. I hope I was wrong cause I've seen something green. This time I checked my hand again and what I saw, surprised me to the core.
My hands are green, slippery, and slimy. It almost seem like a frogs feet.
"Don't tell me ... I.. I turn into a frog.. For all the animals this magician could turn you..... Why frog?! Well it is kind of tough being a frog. Must be the reason why... For how long shall this curse last? Surely there is an antido or spell breaker, right? Like the one in the story books.. Wait.. Don't tell me it's true loves kiss?!" I was speaking my heart out but what I'm hearing from my mouth were tons of frog noises.. I can't speak like how humans can do. I might be stucked as a frog forever!!
Can't let those two see me like this, they might be the only possible cure I have, but kissing a frog is something really awful for man. I felt like I'm a frog prince searching for a princess to kiss. I hid under the huge altar shivering from depression, my tears won't stop flowing.

((3rd Person POV))
It took an hour till Marshal and Finn come out of their passage.
"Found anything special?" Marshal asked Finn.
"Nope. How about you?" Finn asked the same question.
They both came out empty handed even after finishing all the obstacles. Mostly they just wasted their time
"Guess Y/n found the book herself but what's taking her so long?" Finn have a huge concern in his face.
"We should search for her" Finn added and Marshal agreed. They both entered the second passage questioning why not a single trap activated the moment they entered. Arriving in front of the altar, both of them see the magical book laying on the ground. Marshal picked it up immediately, reading its content but into his surprise, nothing was written inside except for the books title.
"He who kissed the curse should be able to live with the curse forever" Marshal read the sentence, loud enough for Finn to hear. As soon as Marshal shown the pages of the book Finn doubts the dungeon.
"Is it possible? We entered the wrong dungeon.. But where is Y/n?"
"Maybe she was caught by a trap. I'll skim through the path again. Wait here kid" Marshal said which gave a strong bad expression towards Finn. Yes he never liked the fact that people treats him as a child.
After a minute of inspecting the whole area, Finn searched through the altar. Something attracted Finn to look underneath. It's a huge frog, not just a normal looking frog but one with an awful dark brown dry skin with reddish humps on its back, its feet were too slimy and sloppy while the eyes were too little, the most horrible thing was the frog giving out a strong bad aura. If a princess found this creature, they might run from fear or disgust. But Finn is not the type who will abandon a creature based on its appearance.
He took the frog in his palms, carrying it along with the book, without a second thought Finn started caressing the frogs head.
"Y/n. It seems like you're cursed by that book. I'm sorry it was all my fault. If only I didn't drag you here with me." Finn expressed his deepest apology. He knows it's Y/n based on what his heart believes.
The frog started shaking its head from left to right telling him Finn, it isn't his fault.
"Don't worry Y/n, I'll figure out a way to break the curse." it might not be obvious but the frog smiled upon hearing Finn's reassurance.
Finn placed the frog on top of his shoulder while its sticky fingers grab hold of his clothes "Hold on tight" Finn warned before he ran as fast as he could.
"Woah kid. What's with the hurry?" Marshal Lee floated behind Finn
"Can you stop treating me as a kid. From now on treat me as a rival"
"A rival? So yo finally admitted your feeling towards Y/n" Marshal laughs in a calm way after seeing Finn blush so hard, for Marshal never knew Y/n was with them all along, as a frog.
"Marshal can you stop talking about that for now?"
"Why? Not like she's here. Wait do you know where Y/n is? You exited without her so I assume you figured where she is. Did she left before us?"
"She's here" Finn pointed at the frog on his shoulder. It took a minute for Marshal to response.
"I see. Hey Y/n it seems like you're in a tough situation." Marshal teased the frog while laughing but he laugh more after seeing the frog glared at him.
"You know Y/n, you're cuter that way" Marshal teased again.
"Stop teasing her, unless you wanted to break the curse"
"To be honest I do want to help her break the curse yet I don't have any idea how" Marshal replied
"Me neither" Finn looked down while heading to the exit with Marshall and Y/n..

After a while, they separate ways, Marshal lee headed to his house after escorting the two towards Fionna's tree house. They bid their goodbyes and Marshal informed them about his world tour starting tomorrow so he would not be around for a week and so.
In the meantime Finn was talking to Y/n about all sort of things, this time she can't dodge a conversation with her since, in her frog form, she can't do anything.
"So right now are you willing to eat flies or you'll stick to human food?" Finn asked the frog but whatever reply Y/n gave, it will still end up with a
"Ribit Ribit"
"How about I show you around the kingdom tomorrow" Finn asked the frog as she gave him a slight nod and another frog sound.
"Finn why are you bringing a huge frog in our home?" Cake asked the handsome man standing near the window with a frog besides him, leaning on the windowsill.
"Sorry about that but this is Y/n" Finn rubs the back of his hat, slightly embarrassed about what happened. He's still blaming himself about the accident.
"Y/n?! Oh no what happen to you?" Fionna approached the frog, looking at the creature without touching it.
"Uhm. She became like this after seeing this book. I think?" Finn explained as he handed the book into Fionna's hand.
"He who kissed the curse should be able to live with the curse forever?" Fionna read the title of the book out loud.
"That must be a clue about the curse. Y/n became like this cause of this book. She must be the first person who read it or touch it" Fionna let out her idea.
"And I think what breaks the curse , is a kiss from her true love" Cake joined the topic wearing her smart glasses, pretending to be a teacher.
"But according to the book. Whoever kiss the curse will have the curse either. Maybe it means, no one can kiss Y/n, cause whoever kiss her might turn to a frog either" Fionna mentioned some deep facts.
"Right. Does it mean, the curse can't be broken?" Finn said looking down on Y/n which is now lonely from what she heard.
"Don't worry, no matter what happens. I will always be here Y/n. You'll never be alone. " Finn patted Y/n's head as he smiled warmly towards her.
"Awwe" Fionma and Cake mouthed with a teasing expression.
"Y/n and Finn sitting on a tree k.I.s.s.I.n.g!!" Fionna and Cake sang together.
"Geez you two. Let's go out Y/n" Finn carried her in his arm again.
"Awwe they're gonna go out" Fionna squealed .
"On a date" Cake added.
Finn sighed all the thoughts off as he started removing the hat out of his head before walking outside, under the moonlight with only the fireflies lighting up his path. It was so silent except for the breeze , leaves, grasses and the frog's croak. This moment feels magical for Y/n.
Finn never noticed how Y/n admired him under the moonlight, she adores his every feature. For her, he looks like a fairy and to think that this handsome fairy cary a hideous looking frog. At the moment, that's what she's thinking about.
But then Finn would look back at her with the most heartwarming smile, it feels as if he brought the sun back to earth just to meet the moon. Even as a frog, her heart feels contented, she might even choose the life of a frog than a human if this is what she sees every night.
"Hey Y/n. Why are you looking at me like that? Wait don't tell me, you have a crush on me" Finn teased which made Y/n look away while crossing her slimy arms.
"Y/n are you mad?" Finn asked the frog after laughing his heart out.
"Maybe you're mad because I'll be here with you instead of Marshal. Were you disappointed?" Y/n never talked, only the sound of a frogs croak.
"Well sorry but you're stuck with me" Finn giggled while laying down on a bed of Yellow roses.
"They said Yellow flower means friendship" Finn said in a mild tone. He took one yellow flower, inspecting it in his hand.
"She loves me, she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not" Finn plucked the petals one by one. But the very last petal was left in his finger, he's staring at it before smiling. Finn sat up placing his cheek on his fist smirking afterwards.
"She loves me" Finn mumbled as he looked back to where Y/n was sitting.
"What? It's normal to have a crush. I also have one. I'm sure you also have one, besides me" He started teasing her again before laughing loudly yet Y/n ignored his words by looking away with her arms crossed.
"I heard girls likes talking about their crushes. Some likes talking about their imaginary marriage, right?"
"Ribit.. Ribit"
Finn's expression suddenly changed from cheerful and into a lonely one.
"I'm sorry. I took away those things from you. A possible future with friends or a possible future with a husband. I know you wouldn't blame me for it but I think I really am responsible for what happened" Finn hugged his knees. Then Y/n hopped closer towards Finn as she placed her slimy hand on top of his shoe, he noticed what she did so he started giggling slightly.
"Whoa it's 10pm already, let's head back. I'm sure Fionna and cake are already sleeping so we're safe for now" Finn carried the frog again in his arms as he went back to Fionna's tree house.
After arranging their sleeping bags, Finn lay down, placing the frog on the sleeping bag next to him while covering its body with a smal handkerchief, acting as Y/n's blanket.
"Good night Y/n"

Finn woke up not seeing Y/n beside him, panick had taken over his emotion, eyes wonders of around the living room, looking for Y/n's tiny figure, till he finally calmed down upon seeing the frog on top of his chest. She was sleeping with a smile on her face.
"Y/n?" It's 6am in the morning yet Finn still called out to her. He promised to bring Y/n for a tour around Candy Kingdom and it would be better if they come early. The citizens were not that busy at the time.
Y/n's eyes fluttered open and Finn immediately prepare for the tour.

Finn was walking around the candy kingdom carrying Y/n on his shoulder. Everything felt so right for Finn. The sun shining brightly, the morning breeze being sweetly refreshing and the candy citizens greeting him.
"Good morning Finn the second human" The lollipop greeted with a smile and a wave of its thin hand, giving Finn a welcoming conversation .
"Good morning Lopop!" Finn greeted mentioning the candy's name along the line.
"F-Finn what's that on your shoulder?!" The lollipop screamed, running away from the two. They're used to seeing frogs in the forest but Y/n is different among them, she's emitting a strong bad aura, which can push away any creatures.
"Wait! She is harmless!" Finn defended before the candy citizens surrounded them.
"Finn. We'll save you!" They started jumping into his direction one by one, as if they were attacking the two , but Finn managed to dodge all of their weird actions.
He can't even speak his mind out since the candies moves like it is the fight of their life.
At the end Finn and Y/n never had the tour or promise fulfilled. They'll walk home and watch the sunset instead.
After four days Finn realized how the town creatures discriminate the girl she likes, and little by little he notice Y/n staying up at night, crying. Must be hard for someone to have that kind of curse and to think that Finn feels responsible for it.
He wanted to do anything for her, he also want to express a part of his feelings so Finn went to the market before the sun goes down, without anyone tagging along.
As the night arrived Y/n hop along the flower field where Finn and her usually hangout, she sat down her favorite spot even without Finn besides her. The scene might be missing but the yellow flowers show a wonderful glow at the presence of the moonlight. It was so silent but peaceful for Y/n.
"Mind if I join?" Finn arrived, sitting on the grass beside her. As usual the frog replies with a croak.
"Y/n . Must be hard with that kind of curse and it's harder to be rejected as a part of the town." Finn look into the frogs face and he noticed tears running from its eyes while it croaks. She wanted to tell everything but the curse built a really tough boundary, preventing her from speaking her heart out.
"These yellow flowers means friendship, right? Then I want you to have this" Finn placed a red rose in front of Y/n. She's a bit surprised receiving a red rose which means love.
Her eyes grew wide as she return her gaze to his dazzling blue eyes.
"I'll give you different colored roses. Whatever you like.. I'll take responsibility if we can't break that curse either. I'll do whatever you want. Be your protector forever , be your friend forever , or whatever you want me to be"
"Even... Marrying you" Finn continue on talking without failure.
"Yet I can't do all those things in this state of mine. I promise to be with you and face the same fate as you. That's why..." Finn took Y/n in his hands as he lifted the frog in front of his face. Y/n was so surprised to even move an inch. Her ears never stopped listening to his soothing voice and her heart made a calming beat.
"I'm willing to give my all" He knows all about the curse yet he still leaned forward. Kissing the frog's lips. He accepted the curse for he knows he can't stand seeing her tears, he can't stand seeing her alone and he can't stand not being with her. Finn knew he'll become a frog yet having Y/n with him is worth the sacrifice.
Bright light covered both of them. It seems like the curse is the one making this magic.
But no..
Finn is still a human and Y/n. She reverted back to her human form.
The curse was broken.
Broken by the feeling they have for each other.
"Y/n, you're back!" Finn was so amazed by what happened he can't believe Y/n is back, standing in front of him. Everything felt right, till Y/n hits his head with her fist.
"I kept telling you it's not your fault!" Y/n shouted from annoyance.
"How should I know? You sounded like a frog back there"
"And you sounded like a depressed man all along. I kept telling you to chill Finn!"
They were arguing with each other for a whole 30 minutes time. Yet deep inside they hold the same feeling of happiness.
For these two love birds heard of a curse. A curse testing out the readers relationship. Who can sacrifice himself for the cursed? That's the only answer.
For a kiss is well known to be a part of love.
Yet sacrifices proves the loves.
So the antidote is not only a kiss but it is also the act of true love.
