51 Who's Really the Boss

What is she doing here?

"May I help you, Cassiopeia?"

"Will told me to wait for him here while he's filming."

"Don't lie to me. He has back to back scenes. If he really told you that you'd be waiting for him all afternoon."

"That's okay, I'm willing to wait."

Be patient. You literally just said that she could use a little kindness in her life. I put on my standard customer service smile for her.

"That may be so but unfortunately I'm the only person Will has given permission to be in here alone. Since I'm working, I can't wait here for you. I'm afraid you're going to have to leave.

"Listen, sweetie. You may be his little assistant for now but if you want it to stay that way, I suggest you comply with my rules. We will be getting back together and when we do he will be listening to what I tell him to. That means that your job is in my hands and as his fiance you will give me the respect that I deserve. So quit flirting with him and do your job. Kay thanks."

I turn to Dillon and try to communicate with him telepathically. I know I just said be kind to her but can I smack some sense into her? I guess he can see my message written on my face cause he just shakes his head. That's fine. She's probably petty enough to get me fired over it.

"That may be so Cassiopeia, but for now I have to ask you to leave."

"I don't think you understand what I said."

Screw it. There's being nice and being a doormat and I will never be anyone's doormat ever again.

"You know what, Cassiopeia? I'm not your assistant, I'm Will's assistant. I take orders from three people and only three people. Will, Keller, and Mrs. Callista and it looks like you're not any of those people."

"Listen here-"

"I'm not done talking, so you listen here. What relationship you have with Will is between you and Will. I don't care if you make up, break up, or anything else in between. It's not my life, but right now you are not his fiance. You are not his girlfriend. And you are, most certainly, not my boss. You are his ex. Now I don't know what made you think you are his fiance or that you have any sense of control over my job. However, my job lies in the hands of three people and I've already said their names and spoiler alert your name didn't make it. Now, my relationship with Will is one based on nothing but friendship and professionalism. Speaking of which, I have a job to do and you're interrupting. Now I'm going to ask you one more time to please leave."

"What are you going to do? Call security. If anything, they'll remove you instead."

"You're absolutely right. I'm not going to call them. Dillon, get rid of her."

"Ok."

In a flash he picks her up like a sack of potatoes and throws her over his shoulder.

"What do you think you're doing, Dillon? Put me down this instant!"

"If I put you down will you leave?"

"No, I'm staying. You can't stop me."

"Then I can't put you down."

She swats his butt trying to make him set her down.

"I see you still like this butt."

"How dare you!" she shrieks.

"She always did say it was her favorite thing about me," he says with a wink

I suddenly have this urge to pour bleach into my ears. I open the door for him and he carries her out. I hope she stops squealing or else there's going to be a scene. I gather the rest of the things for Will and run over to the set making it just in time for break. He sips on some water while I fan him.

"Everything ok? You usually don't take that long?"

"Everything's fine. Just had to do my job."

"Where did Dillon go? That boy follows you like a lost puppy."

"He's off working for his meal."

"Should I even ask?"

"After work. You can ask me after work while buying me a drink."

"It's a date."

"You're buying."

"What's he buying?" Dillon asks, appearing out of nowhere.

"The drinks I deserve after today."

"Drinks sound fun. I'm in."

"Of course you are," Will says while sulking.

What's up with him?

"Why don't we wait until this Friday? I know a good club."

"That would be so much fun, Dillon! I haven't been dancing in ages. What do you think, Will?"

"That sounds okay to me. As long as security is tight. I don't feel like dealing with another situation like yesterday."

They call the break to an end. While Will gets ready to film the scene a few more times I feel my phone vibrate. Checking to see who it is I see the caller ID for Mrs. Callista. I walk away from the set to avoid being a disturbance and answer the call.

"Hi Mrs. Callista. How are you?"

Dillon puts his ear to the phone next to me so he can eavesdrop.

"Hi Astra. I'm fine, how are you?"

"I'm great, thank you. How can I help you?"

"I'm calling to update you on the situation with the paparazzi. Unfortunately, he was too stubborn. The photos he had were compromising for both of you and he was too persistent. We had to threaten him with the charges. We cut a deal and the police let him go."

"That's fine. I had a feeling it would come to this. Thank you for letting me know."

"I suggest you be more careful from now on for both yours and Will's sake. This man has a reputation. Once he has a lead he won't let it go."

"Will do. I apologize for the inconvenience."

"Oh and one more thing. I know you're listening, Dillon. I understand you care for your friends so I will let you get away skipping work today, but if you are not back at work tomorrow morning, I will drag you here myself. Do you understand me?"

"Yes, Anastasia," he says like a petulant child.

After hanging up, I sigh and think about what all I'm going to have to deal with.
