47 The Pineapple Debate

We arrive at the trailer, and I knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Will says

"It's Astra. I've brought you lunch and a little surprise!" I say in a singing voice.

"Come in."

Walking into the door, I'm greeted with the sight of a Will without his shirt on. Thank goodness I'm not holding those pizzas or they'd be on the floor. The sight of those rippling muscles is too much. Don't think about it, there's too much on the line. Mainly money.

"Look who came to visit us," I say gesturing to Dillon.

Will looks him over with a blank face and then turns back to me.

"How did he get in here?"

"I let him in."

"Why?"

"Because he's our friend."

"Says who?

"I do. And I will have you know that he came here out of the goodness of his heart to keep me safe."

"Are you saying that I can't do that?"

Dillon sets one of the pizza's down and starts eating the other one. Watching us as if we were a soap opera.

"Oh don't mind me, you guys keep going."

I take a deep breath, and continue with what I was saying.

"I'm not saying that you're not capable but you're too busy. You're the star of this movie. Where you are and what you do is dictated by someone at all times. Sometimes where you are and where I am, don't always match up. You have a job to do and so do I, and that means that we can't be in the same place at the same time."

"That's fine, but what about Frank and the guys? Are you telling me you don't trust them?

Ugh this guy is killing me.

"I'm not saying I don't trust them. What I'm saying is that Dillon came here with good intentions, and the least we could do is give him lunch."

"Ugh fine, he can stay for lunch."

"Thank you, Will."

Sitting down next to Dillon, I see half of my pizza is gone.

"Dillon did you just eat half of my pizza?"

"I'm starving and this is payment for my services remember?"

"Why didn't you eat some of the other pizza?"

"It's peperoni. I get that it's a classic, but Hawiian pizza is just better. Why didn't you get pineapple on both of them?"

"Oh, get this. Will doesn't like pineapple on his pizza."

"What sort of person doesn't like pineapple?" Dillon asks after gasping in horror.

"Well, I won't say names but he's the only person in this room who doesn't have a shirt on."

"Peasant!"

"Heathen."

"Are you okay, Will?"

"I think his taste buds are broken."

"They must be if he doesn't appreciate the wonderful flavor of pineapple."

"First of all Dillon, Astra, I can hear everything you two are saying. Second, who are you calling a peasant and a heathen? Third, my taste buds work just fine. And fourth, I like pineapple just fine. It just doesn't belong on pizza."

"Oh, Astra and I know you can hear us. We just don't care."

"You should have seen him the other day. I made him this blackened cajun chicken that tasted like a five alarm fire and he loved it."

"Well, hey now. I like spicy food."

"Oh no Dillon, you don't understand. Let me explain something about this chicken. It smells like heaven and it looks like heaven, but it tastes like absolute hell. I made it even hotter than you're supposed to, and this man right here put that hell in his mouth and enjoyed it. He actually enjoyed it."

"What do you mean you made it hotter than usual, Astra?" Will says as he crosses his arms.

I giggle nervously when I see his expression.

"You know Will, I don't remember where but I remember clearly hearing that you like spicy food."

"Really?"

"Yes."

Will bursts out laughing when he hears this. Dillon and I look at him as if he's a madman. I don't know what to do so, I start laughing as well. Soon enough, the three of us are all laughing. Still laughing, Will asks me a question.

"Do you know why this is funny, Astra."

"I have no idea."

"Because I've never told anyone that I like my food hot. Not even Keller knows."

We all stop laughing, when he says those words and fall into an awkward silence. Dillon has to cover his laugh with a cough.

"Maybe I read it somewhere?"

"Nope. Not a single soul knows."

"What oh, oh my gosh. That's so funny. Maybe I was reading about someone else, and I got you two confused and then look at that. It turned out to be a happy coincidence."

"Oh really?"

"Yes! Why else would I do it? I want nothing more than your happiness. Oh my goodness, look at the time. If you're going to film on time, you need to get dressed now! Dillon and I will get out of your hair."

"But Astra, I'm not done eating." Dillon whines

I put my arm around him and talk to him through a smile.

"If you come with me right now, I'll give you some piping hot tea but it has to be now."

"But I don't want tea. I want to finish the pizza."

"You idiot! I'm not talking about real tea."

"Oh, that kind of tea. Astra's right Will, we're just in your way. We'll be leaving now!"

I grab the pizza, and Dillon practically drags me out of the trailer and slams the door on the way. After walking for a bit, he lets go of my hand and I'm able to start eating the rest of my pizza.

"Well, don't go silent on me now. You promised me some piping hot tea. So spill it."

"Fine, just let me just have one more bite of this."

Before I can react, he grabs the box from my hand and holds my precious pizza above his head.

"Hey, give it back."

"I want my tea first."

"Okay okay, where should I start?"
