58 Pin the Boss

I have him give me his credit card, and we agree to meet at the set after I get our food. I pick up a couple of breakfast sandwiches along with a couple lattes. When I arrive at the set, I see him standing outside smoking. I wonder why I always see him smoking when I come to the set. Leaning my back against the wall he's smoking by, I wait for him to stop smoking to give him his food. I cannot stand the smell of his smoke. The smell brings me back and makes me lose my appetite.

"You okay, Astra?"

"I'm fine. Here's your breakfast."

"Would've been better if you had made it."

"I would have loved nothing more than to make you breakfast this morning, but my irrational boss likes to make me do strange things in the mornings."

"That's funny. My assistant happens to be a kleptomaniac with an interest in mens underwear."

"You–"

"Good morning you two."

"Diana! Good to see you again! Medusa suits you," I say with a switch of my attitude.

Will chuckles into his latte. I turn and give him a look that tells him to stop it, but he doesn't seem to care.

"Thank you. I see you and Will are getting along quite well."

"Oh yes. I'm lucky to have him as a boss."

"Oh, I could say the same as having Astra as an assistant. She likes to go above and beyond her duties."

I'm going to kill him. I laugh nervously.

"Enough about us. Are you finally filming, Diana?"

"Yes, today is my first scene. Though I heard there was a change in the script. Do you know anything about that, Astra?"

"They had a last minute addition to the cast. Cassiopeia Alaric will be playing Andromeda."

"That would explain it. Well at least she can do her job. That's what matters most."

"Yeah, she can do all sorts of jobs," Will says under his breath but just loud enough to reach my ears.

I ignore him and continue to chat with Diana until I look at the time. I still have a little extra time. It looks like I need to talk to Will.

"You'll have to excuse us, it's time for Will to get ready. I look forward to seeing y'alls scene together!"

"Thanks. See you in an hour."

When we get to his trailer, there's no one there. I close the door behind us and lock it to make sure we aren't disturbed."

"Wait Astra, I thought you said I had hair and make-"

With that I pin him to the wall bracing both my arms to each side so he can't make a getaway. I give him my most charming smile I can muster.

"Will, what the hell was that?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean back there? She goes above and beyond her duties. The way you said that anyone could tell something happened!"

"So?"

"So there are so many reasons why that cannot happen. Until I get a confirmation about your feeling, I don't want to hear any pickup lines or double entendres leave your lips. We need to be strictly professional. Do you hear me?"

"Yes, I hear you."

"Good."

Since I know he understands me, I let him go.

"Have you made a decision regarding what we talked about this morning?"

"I still haven't figured it out."

"Okay. You have until tomorrow."

Hearing a knock, I unlock the door and let the team in to get him ready for his next scene. Once they come, we both revert to our professional presonas. I go over his lines with him until it's time for him to get dressed. When the time comes, I leave the trailer and start making a few phone calls. While I'm in the middle of a phone call, he comes out dressed similarly to how he was last time. He's wearing the same jacket with a grey tank top, jeans, and black boots. His hair styles in the same messy tousled look. I have to admit he is one good looking man. Hanging up, I go over the script one more time. The man playing Chiron is out for an interview, so they're filming the scene with Medusa first and then they'll come back and film the scene later where he gets the order. In today's scene, Theo has received orders from Chiron to go with a group of the demi gods to kill the gorgon Medusa, but when do things ever go according to plan?

I walk over to the set and see Will and Diana. She's laughing at something he said, but he has that cold facade around her. I wonder what made him that way and if it has anything to do with that ring I found. The set is made of rubble and statues of men. It's a cold place for anyone to live. I've always empathized with medusa. Especially after what happened to me. I can feel her pain. I hope Diana is able to bring her character to life properly. She's a skilled actress though, so I have faith.

"Quiet on the set!"

You can see the change in Will and Diana's personas when they hear those words. They both embrace the emotions their characters should be feeling in the moment. You can tell they are both experienced actors. Will leans against a motorcycle, and Diana hides amidst the rubble and statues.

"Action!"

Theo puts on a pair of aviators and observes his surroundings. Not seeing anything, he lights a cigarette and takes a puff from it. He takes his time smoking the cigarette. As if he doesn't have a care in the world. Once he's done with it, he puts it out and steps on the butt. He crosses his arms and waits, looks around his surroundings, and finally speaks.

"Come on out. I know you're lurking around here somewhere, Medusa."

Appearing almost as if from the shadows, steps Medusa.
