59 Guild of Gods: Scene 5

She walks with an air of elegance and melancholy. A beautiful body without a soul. Wearing a tight black formal gown that looks to be a snake skin that's almost a part of her body. They put accents across her body in black and green that match.

"Welcome to my home, son of the Gods. You seem more intelligent than the last of your brethren they sent. The sunglasses are a nice touch."

"You know why I've been sent here."

"Yes I know. The question is do you know why you are here?"

"I don't ask questions. I just take orders."

"Of course you do. A proper soldier you are and good looking too. I was once beautiful. People said that it was a blessing from the Gods. Who knew it would be my curse and my downfall."

She pauses to stroke the face of one of the statues.

"Why haven't you attacked me yet, son of the Gods?"

"I never fight a woman without cause.Besides, the reason I was sent here and the reason I am here, are two different reasons."

"How interesting. This hasn't happened in a long time. Tell me, why haven't you attacked me yet?"

"You may be a gorgon but you are still a woman. I don't attack women without cause. These statues that surround you were people who were sent to kill you. There was no fault in what you did."

She looks up to him with tears in her eyes, and whispers to him in a soft voice.

"I never ask for any of this. All I wanted was to be left alone. It doesn't matter what form I take, the male species never leaves me alone."

"I know that. That's why I want to help you."

"I don't believe you. The last man who said that tried to kill me."

"That's fair. What if I said we have a common enemy?"

"You. A child of the Gods? What reason could you possibly have to hate them?"

"Plenty, but most importantly I must protect someone and I need your help."

"I want no part in the schemes of the Gods. They have taken everything from me. Just leave me in peace please."

"If you help me, I promise no one will bother you again. Not as long as I'm alive."

"You can bring me peace."

"I can do my best."

"Ok. I'm listening."

"There's a child, I recently found. She's a child of Poseidon."

"No."

"I have reason to believe he may be trying to kill her. That makes us have a common enemy."

"So you need a vicious babysitter?"

"I was thinking more of a guardian with a special skill set. I can't just let any woman watch over the girl."

"So you chose the most infamous killer of men."

"It's not murder, if it's self defense."

"How will this work?"

"Simple, I'm going to fake your death. In return you watch over and protect the child for me until she is of age."

"That's it?"

"That's it."

He pulls out another cigarette and starts smoking.

"And there is no catch?"

"You will have to stay inside and wear sunglasses to protect her from your eyes, of course. But compared to where you live right now, I think that just might be an improvement."

"It's been a long time since I've had a home."

"Oh, don't get me wrong I don't have a home. It's a house. Don't expect anything warm and fuzzy. That's not my thing."

"Can I think about it?"

"You have until I'm done setting up your death."

Medusa sits there lost in thought. Meanwhile, Theo walks around the ruins with a duffle bag pacing packs of dynamite in what appears to be strategic points. When he's done he comes back to Medusa and stands in front of her.

"Do you have your answer?"

With conviction, she looks up to him.

"I will help you with the child, but if I'm going to do that I need to know your name."

"Vasilios. Theo Vasilios."

"Cut! Excellent job, as expected of you two. We'll film a few more shots, and then you will be done for the day Will."

The scene between Medusa and Theo makes me want to cry. You can tell she learned to guard her heart the same way I did. Diana is doing an amazing job with this role. Seeing Will light up another cigarette makes me shake my head. This chain smoking is going to kill him one day. Once they're done filming his scene, I follow him back to the trailer. I grab the makeup remover and start to wipe everything off of his face. I pause when I look at his lips. I think back to this morning, and the feeling of them against mine. I wish it had lasted longer. Wait, why am I thinking like this? I'm working.

"Close your eyes."

He grabs my wrists, and I gasp in surprise.

"You're not going to do what you did last time are you?"

"No, I rarely pull the same trick on a person."

He looks at me with eyes full of suspicion but relents.

Holding his head in one hand, I use the other to remove the eye makeup as gently as possible. I study his face to make sure all traces of his makeup have been removed. He's so beautiful, I can't help but stare. At least, he is until he opens his mouth.

"Enjoying the view?"

"Just making sure all the makeup has been removed. You can wash your face now."

As I gaze into his eyes, I feel hypnotized. No matter how much I want to, I just can't move them. He slowly stands up, his eyes never leaving mine. I drop my hands to my side.

"Astra, I think I'm ready to give you that answer you asked for but first I need to ask you a favor. Can you do that for me?"

"Ok. What is it?"

"Do you trust me?"

"What do you mean?

"Yes or no?"

I want to say no out of habit but deep down I already know the answer.

"I trust you, Will."

"Close your eyes."

I do as he says and wait to see what he's going to do. Taking my face into his warm hands, he gently tilts it up.

"I'm going to kiss you now."
