2 Sowing Seeds, Melancholy Brings Rain

"Emily, I think I realized something"

Eve awakens, opening his eyes drowsily. Is it the end of class? Through a slit in his eyes, Eve surveys the room, noticing a girl and a boy sitting beside each other in their desks.

"What are you talking about?"

"You know how the world has 5 continents?"

Eve picks up his backpack set behind his chair, fiddling with the zipper on the top. "Damn it I ripped a hole here…"

The girl nods her head in agreement.

"And one of the landmasses which could theoretically be a continent, is not considered a continent?"

"Do you mean Scoria at the North magnetic pole?"

"Of course! What if…. That place isn't a continent because it belongs to something that isn't a human civilization? Which makes it impossible for the world leaders to be shameless enough to declare it as one of our continents!"

"But didn't they say…"

Leaving the classroom, Eve puts his backpack in front of him as other students pass by and pull out a notepad through the hole in his bag. "So, if school ends tomorrow…. I could be considered a Grade 11 then, but…."

He sits there dumbly beside the door, leaning on the wall as he gazes off into halls as if his eyes could see a wholly different scene.

His notepad sat slack in his hands, blank with only a single message "I got to exercise". His eyes grew blank as images of people and places filter through them, like gushing water.

Eve feels a pit forming in his stomach, considering "What have I been doing all this time?"

It's like dark clouds start to feel like up Eve's mind, yet he pulls himself up. The past doesn't exist, it's only the present that truly matters.

He pulled his arm between his teeth before chomping down. In that instant, no blood spurt out, but Eve started to move forward again.

A few voices wander into Eve's ears "So what are you going to after school?"

"I really don't want to think about that... But if you had to ask, my plan is to enter a university and get a bachelor's degree somehow."

"You haven't even thought about your future…. What about your blood ability?"

Suddenly Eve stats to consider "What should I do after I graduate? I can't even use a blood ability so what am I supposed to do?"

A contemplating look appears on his face as he passes by students who are also conversing, with glistening eyes.

A few minutes later, Eve notices Seraph with a smiling face and Este who had a frosty expression, seemingly bickering.

Eve knew Seraph always gets in trouble with people for no reason, acting like a prodigal son with his blood abilities. Although he didn't expect Este to bicker with him due to it.

"What are you two bickering about?" Eve called out to them.

"You saw what Seraph did! He was climbing the school using his powers! Mr. Rolf didn't care about it even after I told him" Este looked like she was fuming although she didn't look very threatening.

"Well the school allows people to use their ability freely, and it's not like I inconvenienced anyone so it's fine right?" Seraph looked complacent as if he had won something easily.

Seraph was the son of a successful businessman named Steve McClain, who funded his son's blood abilities all his life, giving birth to the arrogance Seraph was presently displaying.

"It's meant for training purposes! Not for just running around the school all willy-nilly" Este countered. Este had always been a girl with a serious mindset, although that led to her annoying other students and having very few friends.

Eve never cared though, as they had been friends as children, so he has gotten used to Este's personality.

"Can I ask you two some questions?" Suddenly Eve bursts out in their conversation. How can these two be so nonchalant on the last day of school? The two reveal expressions of surprise, before intently staring at Eve with glistening eyes.

"We only have a year left, and this could be considered our last summer break…" Eve's voice cracked before he could finish. Suddenly Seraph and Este pulled him into a group hug.

Seraph rubbed Eve's head, before laughing "Oi you softy, do you have to cry so easily? We're obviously going to hang out this summer too" Yet his expression didn't show the same confidence as his words.

Este stayed silent, although it was clear a frost was forming near her eyes. After a few moments, they break the hug, before silently letting go.

"I-I have to take the bus," Eve utters, as he walks away, wiping his eyes a little.

Este called out to him "Let's meet again during the summer!" Eve just broke out into a sprint, clearly flustered. I wonder why only Seraph and Este are still here…

Eve checked his bag instinctively, seemingly searching for something. Oh, good I didn't lose my notepad.

He exited the school, passing by many familiar faces as his eyes wandered, spending more time then they needed to on specific people.

I still have another year, but what will become of me? I haven't done anything to prepare me for my future and me still…. Suddenly in front of the school doors, he stops, as he clenches his right hand.

Eve squinted his eyes as if attempting to see something on his fist that was too small for him to see.

He ran down the hill avoiding cars and staying on the side, as questioning gazes of others covered him. Eve notices the bus off in the distance, moving forward quickly almost at the intersection.

Shoot I need to get to the bus stop! Eve couldn't cross the road due to traffic, helplessly watching the bus leave, after taking everyone who had been sitting there.

Eve starts walking on the sidewalk, with a dark expression on his face. What was the point of running if I was just going to miss the damn bus? Is this a joke on me? Did the world just decide that I have to walk home because I'm fat as hell?

I don't want to walk home! I'm so physically weak, why should I waste such time when I could just take the next bus that will come like half an hour later. Right? What's the point of spending almost the same time to walk home?

Right? Otherwise, I would have to walk painfully uphill with my weakened body through the forests and neighborhoods hoping nobody questions why someone's stumbling through their neighborhood….

Run. Suddenly Eve enters a mad dash, as his eyes seemingly go blank.

I am Eve. I have lived a life with regrets suppressing my head down to the earth. I tell myself I have never done anything that I would regret. Yet, how could I lie to myself like that?!

Eve passes underneath a bridge as shadows come over him, yet if one was to look into his eyes, they would only see a blinding sun.

My body's been weak since I was young, and I'm so damn lazy I never even train. Continuing to run, Eve has a coughing fit, as if he's about to cough up blood.

Eve stumbles, yet he stabilizes his balance and continues to run, even faster than before! If Eve was to look inside his own body, one could see his blood distinctly glowing, as if screaming in madness.

Continuing to accelerate, Eve dashes into an intersection with 4 different directions. He slips between two paused cars and starts to move even faster after launching himself off of one of them.

Eve lands flat on his face, as his legs pulsate, like a heart beating madly. Why am I running? I could just wait for the next bus... Hesitation creeps in Eve's heart, as he stops for a moment.

"People live their lives every day moving forward step by step. Some people start moving forward, instead, they distract themselves, afraid to move forward." A voice solemnly states in Eve's heart, one he almost doesn't recognize. Yet he knows who's voice it is.

"So why should I stop here, acting as if I'm not even qualified to be on the same level as the average person? Stop and wait? Who the hell do you think I am!?"

Eve picks himself up, an aura of youth clearly on him. When suddenly, his mind stops, as an echo breaks his thought process.

SEVER! SEVER SELF! SEVER LOSS!

A sudden pain strikes Eve causing him to collapse, causing all of his thoughts disappear in an instant. Why did this happen to me?... His vision grows blurry, as Eve faints unable to move a muscle.

"It seems it's finally sown itself within him, huh?" A decrepit voice echoes near Eve as the air starts to vibrate.

"I want to see…. What you will become in the future?"
