I Love Democracy When I Can Use It Of Course

Entry 33:

Mayor Christner POV:

I hate my job, and that is all there is to it.

I have been stuck here for years, watching the city burn and rot in front of me.

As gangs divided the place, corrupt officials were kept in power by those gangs, myself included, even if not by choice.

But now my new friend has arrived, and he has been doing my job for me.

This Linus Ozias is a rather interesting fellow, a Brockton native yet not sullied by the city's corruption.

I looked up his history. He lost his mother, father, and grandparents to various events, yet he helps the city.

Most would abandon this place and run, yet he stays if not out of confidence or arrogance. I do not know, but I am happy he does.

He has armed the police, saved the homeless and destitute, and also improved the quality of life in this shithole.

I would even claim that Linus was the second coming of Christ himself, as he seemingly pulls whatever he needs out of his ass.

Need more improved housing. The man creates more efficient means to create it. Need food? The man makes food replicators. Want power? He creates better means of controlling what we already have or entirely new power sources.

I even see people beginning to worship the man on the PHO threads. Some call him a god, and I am beginning to believe them as every one of his actions and successes mount up more flock to him.

I was initially worried he would go for a governmental position, but during one of his interviews, he blatantly said he would remain a business CEO instead.

I even met with him myself, and he was rather interesting. He wasn't very extroverted, but he was proud. He was humble, but he was not easily intimidated.

He knew what to say and what to do, but he also knew his limits. Even when I asked him why he was doing all this, he said, "Because someone had to, and while I may not be that person, I'm going to give it my damnedest shot."

The pure fire in his eyes nearly inspired me, even if he did not realize he was gaining a following.

And hey, I know who to throw my lot in with, and he looks like he's going to succeed, so I will keep letting him do what he wants.

At least when I meet with the other governors and mayors, I won't be the laughingstock anymore.

Because while they have their beautiful cities, I have Linus Ozias.

As I light my next cigarette and look towards my developing city, I am happy to stay out of his way.

Linus Ozias POV:

Corruption is a good and bad thing because when I met with the mayor, he exemplified a walking doormat; anyone who can hold power over him can do whatever he wants as long as he gains something from it.

All the better for myself, as I've already routed a decent amount of the gangs, and while their influence wains, they become more desperate, and as their desperation increases, they'll make more mistakes.

I can already feel the ABB looking to challenge me, and Kaiser is grinding his teeth into dust in his office as the Empire 88 loses control over the commercial district.

These gangs aren't filled with gaggles of superhumans. They're built off of everyday people, and as ordinary people improve their lives, they no longer need to look to gangs for protection.

Step by step, this city falls into my hands, and I am not above admitting to the fact that I am reveling in this control.

But I immediately smacked down that pride as it was dangerous. As the saying goes, pride comes before the fall, and I am still tiny even if I believe I am becoming more.

" One step at a time, Linus, one step at a time," I say to myself as I enter my lab.

My cowardice could be compared to the "low-key" main characters from cultivation novels who want to live a "relaxing life," but in this case, it's necessary.

The good news is that Connor has located the Faerie Queen in the Birdcage, while Marcus has been able to identify the location of the real Nilibog in Elisburg.

I've already sent my nano swarm to those locations, and due to the nature of the tinker of fiction, my technology is virtually untraceable, so those two insane parahumans will find their prospective kingdoms as their graves.

My control over the shard network has become much more precise due to the analysis given by Cyber and Dread as my Porygon, and AI has developed methods to manipulate it.

At this point, I could weaponize the shard network, but it would take some time, and once I am ready to go against the entities and end bringers, their own system shall be turned against them.

So, manipulating two shards is child's play at this point. Once those two are out of the way, I could paint myself a hero for saving Ellisburg after the Nilibog is gone.

While I won't have to worry about the queen gaining access to all the dead parahumans and shards for her shades.

In regards to Eden Zion's other half, she is basically dead. Her corpse is being used as the foundation for the Cauldron's base in another dimension, and with one button, I could light it all up.

Eidolon, Legend, Numberman, and Doctor Mother have been pacified. While I need to keep Eidolon alive so that the end bringers do not begin to act erratically, the others have been converted and have seen my perspective.

They shall remain trapped in their minds as I puppet their bodies for my own ends.

And it is all the better from my public persona as who would distrust a man that's friends with not only Eidolon but also Alexandria and Legend himself?

I almost feel bad for Alexandria as she probably feels as helpless as she once was, a crippled cancer patient trapped in her own body. However, now she has one of the strongest bodies on the planet yet is still trapped in it.

Honestly, it's bringing out my inner sadist, but I do not dwell on those simple pleasures because I have more important work.

And so the clock strikes midnight again, and new knowledge fills my mind as I laugh joyously.

I now have access to knowledge from the Star Wars universe, and with that comes an understanding of super weapons and galactic-wide travel that only requires a specific type of fuel that I can create.

But for now, it's time to fulfill a childhood dream as I focus my creation magic to create a tiny crystal along with a few other parts.

As I place the crystal within its container, I press the button on the emitter, and a purple blade emits from one end.

*PSSH*

I swing the blade around with expert strikes as I've also studied sword combat, in addition to extending my knowledge to each of the individual lightsaber styles.

But sadly, I cannot introduce this technology because it's already known in popular media. After all, Star Wars was released before the advent of para-humans.

Sadly, I cannot access the force because the tinker of fiction only gives me knowledge, not the ability to wield any esoteric powers.

But just having a real lightsaber in my head is enough to send chills down my spine. I was always an avid Star Wars fan, and now I'm wielding a real lightsaber while saving the galaxy.

If I was any more prideful, I'd call myself the chosen one, but I'm not in the business of slaughtering younglings.

The knowledge of bacta tanks will also be imperative for the medical sector as it's easy to create and very effective on most wounds that aren't too fatal.

I sent the data to Dread on some of my newly acquired knowledge. He gets to work developing some of it, as while the superweapons and warships will require some time to create with our materials, our fabricators and replicators will have them up and running in no time.

Another tech tree added another step closer to unlimited poweahhh!
