A Beauty In Defiance

(I'm just going to put this in to try to explain how the charges work. The MC gets 5 of them each day that he can put into his existing attributes and powers. The main character cannot use the charges to create abilities nor modify them, only improve them. The best comparison is the PRT rating system in the Worm Universe, as powers are rated from 1 to 12. One charge increases your strength or ability by two on this scale; by comparison, one is about above average human, with two on the scale being peak human, and 12 is near planetary. I hope this helps explain the charges.)

Entry 54:

Linus Ozias POV:

Well, this is both worrying and rather comforting after learning that Gabriel somehow knows some future that has me involved.

On the one hand, it's worrying that she was able to see that vision because others might be able to do so, and I would rather not have Shiva, the god of destruction from the Hindu pantheon, breaking down my door and killing me because I changed his perceived future.

But it is also comforting as I know that I will be involved in the future of this world, but I would instead not put too much worth in prophecy as of being with meta essences prophecy kind of goes out the window.

However, seeing that no one has invaded Heaven because they've noticed a change in the timeline is a good thing as it means that while I may be flying blind, so are others.

Now, I need to figure out what I will do with this universe's main character. I have a variety of options, some more gruesome than others.

I am more inclined to go to his house while he's sleeping and performing some good old soul surgery that I learned from the fate universe from my tinker of fiction ability.

Using my learned experience, I could safely remove his sacred gear, and with my angelic powers, I could quickly heal any damage to his soul if possible.

Although a stray thought does enter my mind of coming to the boy as he dies as an angel on his shoulder that will bring him back to life for a price, of course, that's more devilish than I would like.

" So many options, yet I am stuck trying to think of one. Ironic, isn't it?" As I continue training, I await Sandalphon to contact me for my next assignment.

The essence of the broken limiter is paying dividends as my potential and strength are increasing drastically while also focusing on controlling my increased power to not alarm anyone in Heaven.

Because unlike in standard universes, gaining power at a ridiculous rate causes people to freak out.

Eventually, I feel like I will be able to punch away my problems like a certain bald man, but thanks to my abilities, I can control my strength.

"One Punch, Sanguinius, now that would be funny," I mutter as I focus on improving my holy power manipulation and overall pool.

I have been attempting to use mathematical equations to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of my holy constructs. I'm constantly training my abilities by keeping a skin-deep shield of holy power at all times.

I'm trying to replicate Cid Kagenou's training methods by always keeping my magic going and pushing myself to my limits.

I also use my holy power to increase the weight on my body by creating tattoos that can't be seen because I do not wear recognizable paraphernalia.

In doing so, I increase the physical pressure my body can handle and the density of my holy power and magic throughout my body.

But I keep a tattoo of the imperium on my back, with each part of it representing one of the weights.

As a quarter of the tattoo disappears, so do a quarter of the weights, and even now, I can feel their effectiveness on my body as my body grows denser and my magic more controlled.

I have been attempting to master all martial arts, which contains the various styles I've learned from the DC universe, the MCU, and other media.

For reference, the Karate Kid in the DC universe is a somewhat enhanced human who beat Darkseid with only martial arts.

That is the level I strive for and hope to improve upon.

I need to reach this level soon as I only have a month before the story of this universe begins, and unlike the previous universe, I have yet to make the connections I had.

Should I even attempt to uplift humanity, the Angels, or the entire world? But such thoughts are for the future.

But as I am ruminating on these thoughts, I hear a small voice that beckons me to listen, and out of curiosity, I do so.

"Dear Lord, please help me. I don't want to die in a place like this. I would give anything for one more second." The voice pleads, growing weaker by the second, and following the connection, I find myself in a warehouse district in the dead of night.

I spread my senses across the area and found the source of the corruption: a stray devil and a powerful one.

The entire warehouse is painted in dried blood as bodies are piled up in the corner, with a sick crunching sound echoing throughout the building.

And in the center of a room, a woman lies with a decent number of limbs gone yet still alive out of pure will.

At that moment, I steeled myself for combat and broke the door down.

And What once was complete darkness is now a blinding blue and yellow light, and the darkness recedes as if alive, and the stray devil falls from the ceiling while burning from the mere presence of my spear.

What was once a reincarnated devil now lies a monster lost in its bloodlust and reminds me of one of the plague demons of Nurgle.

The memories of the Emperor scream at me to end this vile creature, and for the first time, I agree with them.

As if realizing the threat I pose, the being belters out of a vile liquid, which I dodge as the sludge melts the area it hits behind me.

But it seems like a sludge with distraction as the creature moves in at a relatively fast speed and attempts to swipe at me with its claws.

As I dodged the imprecise strikes, I used this opportunity to scan its soul in the various magics, combing its body.

Yet as the stray devil continues to miss, its anger grows as it strikes out in increasing frustration as it attempts to close the distance while releasing a noxious gas from its body.

Realizing that the woman was still alive and would die in the presence of that gas, I decided to end the fight there and then.

Taking out my spear, I pointed toward the being, and in a blinding flash of light, the Telesto Spear fired off a small blast of its power and disintegrated the being.

But rather than simply disappearing into dust, the decrepit form dies away, and a pure soul is released, and that soul reveals a man used as a test subject in an experiment by his king.

He was subjected to various poisons and potions until it drove him mad, and his king abandoned him in this warehouse district, and he went astray with the toxins combined with his new form, creating what I had just ended.

The soul then cries in joy and bows to me as it disappears, going to what I would assume was his chosen afterlife.

I guess because he was a reincarnated devil, he still had a soul that could go to an afterlife, or maybe it was just the effect of my spear.

But I know one thing: the man was now at peace.

And now I must tend to the wounded and the dead.

The woman whose body had been burned by some toxins, with her arm and leg on her right side burnt off, looks at me.

She can somehow croak out, "Please kill me."

But instead of fulfilling her wish, I reached down to her, placed my hand on her chest, and said simply, " Many would abandon you, but I will not, for you are still worthy of life. Now feel my light and live".

Then a bright light engulfs the warehouse as the woman's form returns to normal, revealing a quite seductive-looking form, which I blame on this being an ecchi anime world, making everyone look like 10 out of 10s at minimum.

(The woman's picture will be in the comments.)

As the light begins to dim, the woman is then revealed wholly healed, and as if not believing the current situation, the woman looks around and begins checking the different parts of her body.

She then looks at me and begins to cry in utter happiness and confusion, and I place my arms around her. She then puts her arms around my body, barely reaching my stomach. Because I am reasonably large, but that's not the point.

She cries for what feels like hours, but the time that passes is only 1/2 an hour.

And as the woman calms down, she realizes that she's still hugging me and backs away in embarrassment, blushing furiously.

We stare at each other for a couple of seconds as if waiting for the other to begin speaking, and after a couple of more seconds of silence, I address her.

" Young one, your trial is over. The being has been laid to rest, and you are safe now, and you are safe now."

The woman then looks to herself and then to me, bows on her knees, and shakily says, " Thank you for your help. I thought... I thought this was the end, thank you."

I simply stand and walk over to her, raising her to her feet and placing my hand upon hers. I had taken off my glove so that she may feel that she was still alive.

She then leans into my large arm, and I allow her to do so.

We stand in silence until she speaks, " I never truly believed, you know? I never thought anything would show. I thought this was the end. Who are you?"

I simply state with no grandeur nor grandstanding, "I am Anakim, an angel of the Lord and part-time pest control."

My terrible attempt to lighten the mood actually works as she begins to somewhat chuckle.

"You know most would just leave, yet you stay. Why?"

Why did I stay?

I do not know, as while I have immense knowledge, I am still impulsive in the face of immediate threats.

It has been a concurring flaw, and what I see is my humanity.

While I may believe I am above them with my knowledge of other worlds, these flaws remind me I am not.

I see potential in this woman.

Let us see if I can make my own change.

"The reason is simple: I just wanted to see if you are alright and ask you a question."

This catches her attention as I ask her a question that will change her life.

"Now, young one, I must ask. Do you believe in fairy tales?"
