74 Chapter 74: Beauty

Stunning, gorgeous, beautiful... these were the words going through my head as I stared at the girl in the full length mirror. The red dress hung perfectly to every curve and showed off just enough to be tempting. My makeup brought the attention to my bright green eyes as well as my plump lips where Beth had painted them bright red. I smiled, or at least I think it was me in the mirror? Was that really me?... I had never really thought myself in this way until now. It was like my soul had been transported into some other perfectly gorgeous girl. Ouch! I pinched myself hard just to make sure it was truly me looking back.

Beth grabbed my hand, clasping it in hers firmly, "That is you, Little wolf. You are amazing inside and out! Don't ever let me catch you thinking any differently!". Even though she was scolding me slightly I knew she did it with care and maybe even love.

Before I even realized what I was really doing I was hugging her close and she was hugging me back. "Thank you for all that you do", I said softly. She pulled away slowly then sniffed a little and turned her head quickly. Her hand came up with a cloth from her pocket to dab at her eyes. "Are you okay?", I asked worriedly. She waved me off and said, "I've been waiting for a girl like you to come into these boy's lives. I'm glad you're finally here". She looked me right in the eyes with those last words and I wanted to tear up myself. Knowing Beth would scold me if I made a mess of the makeup on my face I held myself together as best I could. I stood straighter and exuded confidence. Everyday she reminded me more and more of a perfect mother figure.

Beth's words echoed in my head though and not for the right kind of reasons. I wished it was for the right kind of reasons. My mind wanted to go to that dark place that questioned my future with the pack but I didn't let it. Not tonight, tonight I am happy and I am here. This will be a good night I told myself reassuringly. My wolf howled inside happily as she pranced around my mind. She was all too happy to show these boys that we could really clean up nicely!
