Chapter one

Morgan looked at her boyfriend, Derick, and smiled at him. The male looked up from his phone to look at her then looked back at his phone. He barely paid attention to her anymore. Morgan had planned a fancy dinner at an expensive restaurant, just for him not to pay attention to her. There is no compliment on her hair or outfit. He only looked at his phone and did only god knows what. She knew their relationship was ending; she just didn't know when. Her smile dropped as she looked at her salad. "Derick?" Her soft voice spoke. His grayish eyes looked up towards her.

"What?" He asked coldly and pushed his black hair out his face. Morgan was wearing an orange dress, his favorite color. He rolled his eyes and groaned. He didn't know why he was still talking to her or why he was with her. Morgan looked up from her plate and cleared her throat.

"It's over." She whispered. "It's time that we break up and never see each other again." Derick's eyes widened as she said those words. She got up and paid for the half of her meal. She then walked off and went towards the front of the restaurant. Derick got up angrily and followed her. Once they were out of the restaurant Derick grabbed her arm and forced her to turn to him.

"And who told you that you could leave me huh?" He asked demandingly. How dare she leave the relationship. His face seemed to get red with anger. Morgan tried pulling away but his grip tightened.

"Derick. You're hurting me." She looked at him with fear in her eyes. She'd never seen him like this and never thought he'd be one of the people to hurt her. He wanted to take control of the relationship from beginning to finish. He wanted to make her cry before he could walk away. Who did she think she was?

"I don't care!" He shouted at her which made her flinch. She hated getting yelled at. "You know what fine. No one would ever want you anyway." The man let her arm go and stormed off. He hoped that she would cry and beg for him back, but she didn't. She didn't even run after her or called for him to come back. She let him leave and didn't even shed a tear. She glared at him with a bit of fear. She sighed and called a cab once he got out of view.

When Morgan got to her house she laid on her condo's living room floor. She looked at the ceiling and wondered if leaving Derick was a good idea. She then thought about how he treated her in their relationship. He was controlling. She couldn't leave the house without him giving her permission. He told her that if she didn't abandon her family he'd leave her, and she did exactly that. Never called or heard from them. That was five years ago, she hadn't heard from them for five years.

The breakup was a year ago. Morgan was now happier and had a better job than she had before. She used to work for Derick's father and needed a Job that never got her to see her ex again. Morgan walked to her desk and looked at her coworkers Anne and Sam. Anne is a woman that could look good in any hairstyle in any color. She was a mixed Five-foot woman who had teal hair at the moment. Then there's Sam. A tall muscular blonde that had blue eyes. Both Sam and Anne were friends with each other and Morgan.

Anne looked at Morgan and smiled before waving. Sam looked at Morgan and waved as well. Morgan waved back before getting to work. She started to write her book which was a small romance novel that she had been working on for a while now. Anne walked to Morgan's and sat down on her desk. "Hey, Morgan, you did well on your last book Morgan," Anne spoke in a monotone voice, Her voice showed no emotion. No one heard the emotions in her voice. She rarely gets excited or angry well no one would have ever known if she was. It was weird for Morgan to hear anyone's voice to not show emotion.

"Thanks!" Morgan replied excitedly. She loved it when Anne or Sam complimented her. Her body seemed to react in a way that she felt years ago. Her stomach turned and twisted in Knots. She felt sick but in a good way. Her cheeks seemed to get warmer.

This is love again. A small voice in her mind spoke to her. It sounded exactly like her, but it wasn't her. Anne smiled at Morgan and then leaned close to see what the twenty-five-year-old woman was working on. She saw that she was working on another romance novel. Morgan's smile turned into a smirk. "Still working on Romance novels?" She asked. Morgan shivered, hating the fact that Anne never showed any emotions in her voice. She could never tell if Anne was teasing, excited, or angry.

The girl looked at Anne and nodded. She always worked on romance novels and didn't think she'd work on anything else. The one she was working on was a fantasy romance. The protagonist was a villain who wanted to take all the power from the world. And then there was the hero who was the protagonist's love interest. "Yes. I'm working on a fantasy romance. The main character is in love with her enemy, and then one day he saves her when she has a conflict with another character." Morgan tried to explain her story and then got interrupted by Anne.

"That's nice but maybe keep your voice down. I don't want anyone stealing your book." Anne was right she didn't want anyone to steal her book and try to take credit for it. Before Morgan can even reply Sam walks to them. Morgan stared at his broad shoulders she wondered if he had abbs under his shirt. Her mind wandered off as Sam began speaking.

"Hey, Gals." He greeted them. Sam's big doe eyes looked at them with pure innocence. That's what Morgan liked about Sam. He looked so innocent but was far from it. He could and would hurt anyone if he had the chance to. He didn't care if he was close to them, he snapped at their boss when she pushed him too hard. He was much hotter when he snapped off. Well, that's what Morgan thought. His accent would go from British to Scottish when he was mad. "So I was wondering if you both would like to go to the new cafe that had just opened up." Anne rolled her eyes knowing that Sam only wanted them to pay for something he would probably waste. He always wanted them to pay for his meal, but he'd pay for their drinks at bars. The girls agreed and then smiled at their friend. They didn't care about paying. At the cafe, Morgan looked at the menu.

"So what are the things that y'all are getting?" She asked and put the menu down. "I'm getting the mushroom soup." She loved things that had mushrooms in them. Sam chuckled already knowing she was going to get that.

"Of course, you were going to get that," Sam replied. Before anyone said anything else the waiter walked to them and asked them what did they want to drink. The voice sounded like someone Morgan knew. She looked at the waiter and squinted her eyes. Tall, dark-skinned, with blonde hair, and grayish eyes. She froze not knowing that she'd see that person again. And to think they'd end up a waiter. The waiter looked at Morgan and the eyes went dark. The person was her ex, Derick.

"Oh, If isn't Morgan?" He said coldly. Why would she show her face at his job? It's been a year but he still loved her, he wished she'd run after him. Did he still love her though? Or did he want someone to control? They drifted apart and it was his fault. He knew it was his fault. Morgan's friends looked at her.

"Do you know this person Morgan?" Anne asked.

"Duh, he just called her name. They have to know each other. Look at their reactions. Morgan is frozen and he's glaring at her with hatred." Morgan looked away from Derick when she managed to control her body.

"Derick." She mumbled with the same coldness. "I didn't think that you out of all people would work as a server. Daddy broke you off his money?" She looked at him. Her slick comment made Derick angry. His dad did kick him out of his bank cards and told him that he wasn't his son anymore.

"No, I'm just here because I didn't want to be spoiled and depend on him anymore." Derick rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. The tension was so thick that it could be cut with a knife. Everyone at the cafe could sense it.

"Yeah ok."

"Just tell me what you want."

"Why should I? I'm leaving. I'd rather die than have you serve me." Morgan got up and gave Sam one hundred dollars then left the cafe. That shocked Anne and Sam. They had never seen that side of Morgan before.

Morgan was now at home working on her book, she was running out of time. It was almost time for her to turn it in. She chugged an energy drink- it was her seventh can of it. She tried to stay awake and wanted to stay awake. "I can have this done by one day." She told herself. She looked at her notebook and typed down everything that was on the notebook to her laptop. Music was playing in the background as she wrote her book. "Get up and go to bed." She heard the voice again. She rolled her eyes and ignored the voice. She finally found out what the voice was. It was her worried about her mental health and wanted herself to be happy. It wasn't going to happen. And she knew that it wasn't going to happen ever.

Morgan soon got done with the book and sent it to her boss. She killed off her main character like she always did in her books. All her main characters had to be killed once the books were done. She loved making people root for the main character but they would die a tragic death. There was no title for the book yet but she needed her boss to look at it for her. She hoped that it was good cause she wasn't going to redo it. She sighed, put her laptop down, and got off her couch. She walked to her room and went to her bed. She flopped on her bed and closed her eyes. She soon fell asleep with her music still on. She always had her music on as she slept.

Morgan woke up to someone banging on her door. She quickly got up with fear. She went to see who it was. It was Anne who had a brown paper bag. "Open the door, Morgan." She called out. Morgan opened the door and then sighed.

"Don't bang on my door like that." She huffed. "I thought you were the police and you woke me up at?" She didn't have her phone on her so she couldn't check the time.

"It's noon. Why were you not up?" She asked and raised her left eyebrow. The real question was why was Anne at her house? Morgan was amazed that Anne could show emotion with her face but still hated that she didn't have a tone that made her know what the nineteen-year-old was feeling without having to look at her. Anne rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

"What are you doing here?" She answered with a question. Anne lifted the bag Morgan saw.

"I have food." Morgan then smiled and grabbed the bag.

"Thank you." She said happily before taking the bag. She went to the kitchen to see what her friend brought her.
