Willing to wait

Jenny pressed the end button on the call she just had with Lara. She was feeling heartbroken for her brother but what else could she have done. Jasper did chased her since they were sixteen.

Lara said at that time that she was too young to have a relationship. In reality, Jenny had already realized that Lara only look up to Jasper as her older brother.

When Jasper wanted to ask her out again, her parents died unfortunately. After 2 years he wanted to ask Lara again only to be surprised by finding a newly born baby. And Lara had become so busy with Luke and her work she practically had no time to date.

Now she is suddenly engaged.

They are really not fated to be together.

However, she still feel bad. She really wanted Lara to become her sister. She sent a message to her brother informing about Lara's sudden engagement. Jenny waited for a reply but none came. Maybe he's sleep already so she decided to go to sleep as well.

Jasper Jiang might as well be everybody's dream guy. Smart and handsome as he shares the same facial features as Jenny. More over, he made a lot of improvements with their company that the sales have doubled and is still climbing.

There's only one flaw with him. He has been in love with one girl all his life who never see him other than as a brother.

He was still awake when Jenny texted him as he was going over some important documents. When he read her message, his mind went blank.

Where did that guy came from?! One week! I've been waiting for her for 10 years!! And that bastard was able to sweep her off her feet in a week!

Frustration, pain and anger showed in his face as he stares at the wall on his bedroom. His eyes reddened. He knows Lara doesn't love him like he does to her. But he is willing to wait. No matter how long it takes. Yet now...

Memories of their childhood appeared when he closed his eyes. Her smile, her laughter, her pain and depression.

Only he and his sister knew. How she wanted to join Charles and Lana. If Jenny didn't call him that time at the rooftop, God knows if Jenny alone could save her.

When she got her hands full at work, they never complained having Luke. Even having him stay at his office just so Lara won't worry leaving Luke with just a nanny.

Can't I ask her one more time? Surely it won't hurt to ask? Maybe I can even assure her that if someday that man abandons her, he would just be on the side. Waiting. As always.

He wanted to be angry. He knew her first. Why can't it he him? But knowing it will always be Lara in his heart, the anger dissipates instantly.

Lara laid down beside Luke after the call. Happiness and anxiety evident on her face. She cuddled Luke closer to her chest, while the little boy seems to have sensed her and buried his chest.

She sighed. Alex accepted Luke. She shouldn't worry. Still she wasn't totally honest about it. Maybe she should tell him tomorrow. It's always a good idea to come clean anyway.

With that thought she went into slumber.
