Matelink: This feature allows mates to communicate telepathically until one reaches thirteen. The link comes back when they have finally mated. But can be weakened or heightened if one is under the influence of alcohol( depends!)

The Timer: It appears randomly on the hand to show the time left for a person to meet his/ her mate.

Also, in this version of Earth, the population is lesser than ours so three months after meeting his mate, a male goes into heat for a fortnight. Though this doesn't happen if they have mated already.
