1 The Prefatory

The continuous shutter of the cameras make her insides tremble. Another expected incident happened just few hours ago. She was kidnapped. This is not so unusual events in their lives but she's still not used to it.

Sharon Ellery, who's at her early teens was abduct multiple times but the fear in her heart still strong. She cannot think of her life as peaceful as she thought it would be because of her status in life.

"Everything's alright, honey. It's okay now."

Her mother hugged her gently and while holding her cold shivering hands. Keeping silence is the only answer for what her mom said. That comforting words don't have use now. No one can ever erase how frightened she was earlier, not even a single comfort.

All she now was….rest. She wanted to rest for a very long time. A break from this dangerous incidents in their lives.

"YOU ARE ALL FIRED! YOU ARE ALL USELESS! GET OUT OF HERE!" her dad shouted from afar. Even inside their house, she can still hear all the 'clicks' of the cameras. Lips instantly tremble as those agony sounds creeps in her ears.

"No….no….get away from me!!" she shouted. Her mom hugged her tightly as she covered her with blanket. Her eyes are puffing red and silently crying because of her daughter's trauma.

"The daughter of Mr. Edward Ellery, Sharon Ellery was---" coming from television. Her dad shut off the TV and went to their direction. With his worried look, he hug her.

"I'm sorry, honey…this happened again…I'm so sorry.." he apologetically said. Sharon's looking at the air as she listen to her father's airy regrets and promises.

She was abduct by her father's business nemesis. She was the target of every abduction because she's the current heiress. She didn't know that her kind-hearted father will make her live like this.

So, she thought that a child of a well-off family isn't always lucky. Some will get harm like her, some are not.

He made her look at him and there his face again…the face with deep remorse. He touched her left cheek and gave a faint smile. "This will never happen again." he said and as expected, she can't feel any assurance.

She kept quiet. She's used to this nailed promises. Not so new. "Pack your things, hon." he said to his wife. That caught her attention. "No.." she uttered. "You have to. I will not let this to happen again. Go with your mom and brother. You are safe there." he convinced.

Sharon sook her head and a tear fell. Her heart aches so much. She feels like there's a nail being hammered inside. Running away isn't the answer to this situation. She can't live their place even after all of the danger she experienced. Her friends whom she loves so much…she can't leave them like this. This country made her who she is today.

"Sharon. Listen to me." he said and she looked at him. "You have to go. I will fix what I have to fix. I will go after you, I promise. And by that time that everything is fine, you can go back here." he promised but made her more upset. She bawled as she continue to disapprove.

"You keep on making fool promises. I cannot believe all of your promises anymore." she sobbed. "I understand that my child, but please….just this time, believe me." he plead. Before she could even respond, her mom spoke. "Sharon, let's go. Your grandparent's house in Paris is safer than here." she said.

She reprobate it and looked at her dad. "You are safe there." he said. She looked at her mom and she's nodding her head. "Your dad is right." she whispered. She just cried her heart out and can't still believe it.

She wailed as she realized how her opinion is unworthy and she can't do anything but to obey. That night, she left the country with a heavy heart.
