89 Chapter 89

Part 10. The Last Farewell

Tendrils of smoke blew out of the man's mouth as he gazed at the icy wall beyond the thriving forest.

Ever since he had returned from Cayen, Ian would often be found staring into the distance. He looked so lost in thought that even his personal attendant balked at interrupting him.

The attendant approached him cautiously, clearing his throat. "It's from Cayen, my lord," he said, handing two letters on a silver tray. "One's addressed to your guest, I believe."

Ian flipped the two envelopes over. One was pressed with the imperial family's seal, the other with House Bale's. The latter bore Camellia's name.

"Is this all Camellia sent?"

"Yes, my lord."

"Anything addressed to me?"

The attendant wordlessly pointed at the letter bearing Wade's name. Ian put out the cigarette irritably, sweeping back his hair. It had been two weeks since he'd returned to Gaior—alone.
