1 War Zone

The first orange hued rays of sunrise kissed the still dust-laden debris. These soft rays that should have brought warmth to a new day only acted to solidify the reality of the losses. In the dark, they had only the smell of the bombs and the fires to allege with, but under the radiating glow of the clouded sky, there was no hiding.

Waking up to a bright morning and birds chirping in the beautiful blue sky of the city of Mexico is what one would be expected to call an ordinary life but not as a life of a soldier.

Running across the field I see my comrades taking cover.

Its been almost four days now since we arrived in Egypt.

We we're brought here to fight no other than my sworn enemy Diablo and

It has been a brutal war between his men and mine.

I was starting to Despise the smell of smokey chemicals, the smell of gun powder, sweat, melting flesh, death, and the dry hot windiness of the desert.

We've almost run out of water and our throats were getting dry.

Three of my comrades have been badly injured and it has been impossible communicating with the army since we landed on this desert.

"Retreat" I commanded my comrades as we all escaped to a small cave nearby.

Zee my right hand brought out his radio trying once again to communicate with the army.

"I can't get any signal Fuego" he yelled running his hands through his thick black hair.

"Vee" I called as he rushed to me with a salute. He's a new young comrade under my training and I've grown quite fond of him with all his intellect in technology.

"Yes Commander" he spoke.

"I need you to look into our location and find out why we aren't getting any signal. It's impossible to not get a single signal in this damned wasteland" I yelled pacing up.

"Yes, commander" he responded turning around to his orders.

"This mission isn't going as planned, it seemed like Diablo and his men knew our every step before we even took them which makes me skeptical of my comrades".

"Fuck" I cursed as I run my hand through my dark hair.

Zee stood with his assault rifle in his hands alerted more than ever noticing my expression.

"There's a traitor amongst us Zee, its impossible for them to know our every move. This was a classified mission so how did they know where we planted all our explosions" I yelled pacing up and down.

A part of me knew something was off and it pissed me to not fully be able to wrap my head around it.

"Calm down Fuego" Zee spoke in an alerted tone.

"We'll look into this when we get back to the army so for now let's try to communicate with them once again".

Nodding I tried again but there still wasn't any signal.

"This is very weird" I murmured undertone.

"There seems to be a fault with this radio, it seems someone has tampered with our radio so we get stuck here" I kept muttering undertone.

Opening my backpack I took out a screw as I tried opening the radio up.

The surprised look I got from my comrades as I saw the torn wire confirmed everything. I tried the same with every phone and the same wire had been cut off.

I've been right this entire time, there's a traitor amongst us.

"Fuck",  Zee yelled as he runs his hand through his short black hair once again depicting how frustrated he was.

Everyone had this shocked look on their faces and I found it so hard to know who'll dare to tamper with my mission.

I was determined on teaching that spy a lesson once we're out of this forsaken desert.

Fixing the torn wire in place I tried one last time and it went through.

The statistic sound followed by a familiar voice which I recognize to be General White's.

"This is Commander Fuego, do you copy sir" I spoke repeatedly waiting for a response.

"Yes, copy Commander Fuego" a reply came through.

"What's your status" he enquired.

"We're in a cave undercover, Sir,

there seems to be a traitor amongst us, Sir.

This mission needs to be aborted, we need to leave this desert now I repeat we need to leave this desert now" I ordered.

"Copy Fuego, there'll be a flight at the hills in ten minutes, I repeat there'll be a flight at the hills in ten minutes"

"Copy General" I replied as we proceeded to the location.

Running for about five minutes we heard an explosion followed by sounds of a fleet of cars which seems to be headed our direction.

"Halt" I commanded my men as we looked for a hideout nearby.

Looking around we were only able to locate a huge rock and hid behind them. Some few seconds later we heard the cars getting much closer and the sound of footsteps approaching.

"Where are they"?  a man I recognized to be Diablo, the most dangerous terrorist in his forties yelled at his men.

This is the man who ruined my family and left my mom in a comatose state for over 7 years now.

I've always been looking forward to the day I bring him down and I'm certained that day is today.

"They're supposed to be here, search the place thoroughly. We can't let those idiotas escape especially Fuego" he yelled his orders.

Looking back at Vee and Zee, I gave them a nod, and instantly they both threw grenades towards Diablo and his men as we followed with gunshots.

Ten, fifteen, twenty of his men were down and I smirked.

Even though we lost most of our grenades earlier we still managed to save quite a few.

The grenades left made it possible for us to shoot down most of their men.
