10 Part Ten
"So where are we going" I asked and he said "it's a surprise" and I looked at him and said "come on tell me" and he said "nope that will spoil the surprise then".
After about a half an hour drive we pulled to a really nice chinese restaurant. He quickly got out of the car and ran to my door and opened it.
I stepped out of the car and he held out his arm for me to hold as he closed the door. I held on to his arm and we walked inside.
The inside of restaurant looked very beautiful and the smell from the kitchen smelled really good. We walked up to the counter and Devon began talking to the counter lady. "Reservation for Devon Heart" he said and the lady said "ahh yes Mr.Heart the other guests from your party are waiting follow me". "Other guests" I said and he said "yup" and we followed the lady to a table where their was two people waiting. I recognize them right away. "Isa" I said and she turned around from the table and waved.
Devon pulled the chair out for me and when I sat down he pushed it back in. "Okay what kind of date is this" I asked and he said "this date contains 4 places and everyone of those places consist of the things you love. This place is one of them. I know how much you love Chinese food and your friends. The rest of the places Brendan and Anaisa helped me out with the things you love". "That's really sweet of you" I said to him. Then Anaisa said "okay let's order guys" and I said "ok". A waiter came to our table and asked what would we like. Everybody else went before me and ordered then she finally asked me "I'll have the lo mein with general chicken and a strawberry lemonade". When she left we all just hungout and talked.
After a while the food finally came and we all ate our food. "That was good" I said and they said "yea". Devon then looked at me and said "ready to go" and I nodded. He paid the waiter,said goodbye to Brendan and Anaisa and we went back to the car.
"Where are we going now?" I asked and he answered "again it's a surprise". We hopped in the car and drove for nearly twenty minutes. We stopped at a place that said Jim's karaoke bar. "Devon..why are we hear?" I asked and he said "because you love to sing and plus I used to come here and play" and I said "USED to love to sing, Devon I haven't sang ever since my dad left for the army, which was 3 years ago" and he said "that doesn't mean anything Nikky. I know you loved to sing and I know your father would want you to keep singing plus I'll be there with you the whole time" and he got out the car. I got out the car and we walked inside the bar.
When we walked into the bar I could hear people trying to sing. I'm telling right now they could not. It sounded like two people were trying to find out on who could sing the worst.
We walked to a table and sat down. I watched as the people went on and off stage from singing, some were good and some were terrible. Then a lady came up to Devon and said "Hey Devon. You gonna play for us tonight. We are doing a best singing contest" and he said "maybe,but my girl has to do it with me" and he pointed to me and she asked "can she sing?" and he said "absolutely" and she said "well you guys are going up next what's her name?" and he answered "Nikky Vell" and she nodded and walked away.
"What was that about?" I asked and he asked" do you trust me?" and held out his hand and I said "yeah" as I grabbed his hand and he led me next to the stage.
"Devon No No No I can't do this" I said and he put his hand on my cheek and said "Yes you can. I'm gonna be right there with you if you get scared just look at me" and I thought about it for a moment then nodded my head slightly.
After a couple of minutes of waiting the girl that Devon was talking to went on stage. "Hey how is everybody doing tonight" she said and the crowd roared. "Okay now everybody the next participants are a really cute couple. You already know one of them from his past. Here is Devon Heart and Nikky Vell".
Devon held my hand and we walked on to the stage. My hands were shaking and I didn't know what to do when I saw the crowd. Devon walked me over to the microphone and grabbed the guitar that was there. I looked at Devon and he mouthed the words "you can do it".
Then Devon started to play the guitar and the song he was playing was one of the songs I sang to my dad when I was little. It's called who you are by Jessie J.
I closed my eyes and thought of what Devon said. This is for you dad. When the part came up I started to sing.

By this time of I was crying so hard,I was thinking about my father and continued to sing the song

When I finished the song the crowd was dead silent for a couple of seconds then the crowd started to cheer really loud. I wiped my tears away and looked at Devon. He had been tearing up a little.
We walked towards one another and hugged eachother. He loosed the hug a little bit and he gave me a kiss.Then the girl that Devon was talking to came back on stage and said "wow that was an amazing performance between you two. Right everybody" and the crowd cheered. "I think we can stop right now with that performance because I think we have found our winner" she said.
My eyes widened when she said that and the crowd went wild. She walked off stage and grabbed the trophy and handed it to me and said "congratulations to you both you were outstanding especially you Nikky. I have high hopes for you" and then she walked back off stage.
I turned to Devon and I was so happy I hugged him really hard and said "thank you" and as he began to hug me back he said "you're welcome". We walked off stage and as we were walking out with the trophy everybody kept congratulating us. When we finally got to the car we hopped in and drove off.
"That was awesome" I said to Devon and said "I knew you could do it. You could never give up your dreams. I can imagine him right now with a smile on your dad's face now" and I smiled at him. "So where are we going next?" I asked and he said "it's a surprise but I'll give you a hint you'll need special shoes for it". I stayed there thinking and began to get confused until we arrived at our destination which was...
