48 Chapter 48: The king's weakness

The man quickly turned around and bowed, as the flap opened. Eve mimicked the soldier's actions grudgingly, stealing a glance at Theodore emerging from the tent with the princess who was acting all embarrassed and giddy as she hung on to his coat.

"Rise." The king commanded, at which the two straightened their backs, taking a step back respectfully.

Eve narrowed her eyes at him accusingly, at which the man flashed a smirk at her.

"King Theodore." Hugh Tarleton called, offering a slight bow to the man as he appeared to her left.

Eve jumped to her right, startled by the sound. She was so absorbed in glaring at the king that she hadn't heard him walk up to them. Theodore chuckled at her action, shaking his head as he turned towards the man.

"Ambassador Tarleton." He acknowledged, raising his brows in question.
