3 Chapter 2

As I began to prepare to get the rather large boat under way day began to turn into night as the clouds overhead darkened and thunder sounded overhead. It seemed like everything was vibrating slightly and then after a good minute of this there was a blinding flash of lightning not far from my location.

I had to check this out as it wasn't natural whatever this event was, it simply happened too fast to be normal.

This was going to be a pain as it seemed the zombies were drawn to the lightning strike zone but there was still time.

When I got there, there were people. That confused me a lot. The next thing I realized was that I recognized these people. Though I was still under cloak so I wasn't noticed, it wouldn't be long before walkers made their way to them.

The first thing I did was get close to the group, they were all armed so that's a plus. The first thing I tried was to check if they had radios, I didn't want to get shot by just decloaking right in front of them. "Hey Rae Rae, that you down there?" I asked into my headset, knowing she was there and hoping they had communications. "Clarke! Clarke! Is that you?!" She yells almost desperately into her own mic.

I just breathed out. "Yah it's me Rae.. I'm going to decloak in front of y'all so don't shoot me!" I tell the beautiful Latina girl who then tells the others.

As my cloak recedes the others begin to move in my direction, I'm only a dozen or so meters away anyways. I hug Raven first quickly followed by Octavia and the rest that made their way here, including Madi for some reason. I thought she had ascended though so that was confusing. I didn't let her go though and kept her close to me for the moment. She looked slightly confused at that as she was also a fighter but didn't know what was going on.

"Alright, while I explain, circle formation facing out, weapons up!" I tell the group who looked confused but move quickly to oblige. I mostly look to Raven and Octavia when I'm talking now. "This world isn't the one we are from, it's some kind of alternate Earth. In this world, their apocalypse seems to be the dead rising to eat the living!" I tell the group and I can see their complexions become rather pale.

"This island has several hundred undead on it and a lot of them will be making their way here after the light show created by your arrival. To kill one you need to shoot them in the head, nothing else works. Anything that destroys the brain. They are drawn to sound, can see and smell. Thankfully though they are slow and stupid." I tell the group in a rush as I can see the walkers getting closer. Octavia and a few others had already drawn swords and knives while others had guns pointing in their directions.

"This… whatever it is, seems to have just started a few weeks ago, so I was about to go out and find survivors who are stranded out on the coast to escape the military's bombing of major coasts cities by using their satellite systems to find boats stranded." I got some approving nods at that especially from people like Raven who still do their all to help people.

"You should take this time to get familiar with destroying the dead, remember head shots is all that works. Or a knife to the dome." I say that last part looking at Octavia who smiles slightly, still kinda pale from all the creepy news. Can't really blame them.

I pulled out one of my pistols after attaching my helmet to my belt and began walking towards the docks with my friends following behind me, people still looking in their designated directions thankfully. As I get 20 feet from the closest Walker in front of me I take aim and shoot it square between the eyes. The others are watching and I can see several crinkled noses at the stench of these abominations but they all get the point.

The walkers begin to fall one by one as people begin to take aim, there aren't that many walkers so nobody is really panicked, just sickened about what is happening.

It didn't take long to clear a swath to the fairy and to load their bags as well. Thankfully they didn't come without stocking up on some of the essentials as well like I did.

"I already mostly cleared this boat but it wouldn't hurt to have a few more pairs of eyes check it out again. Also remember when clearing, make noise at a doorway before going inside, it will draw THEM to you, instead of finding them hiding in a corner or something equally horrible." I just got nods as most split into groups of two and began to recheck the ship.

I had noticed that they hadn't grabbed any of the suits of armor or the awesome and highly useful helmets, or any that I saw anyways, so I pointed out some of the extra sets I had to Raven and Harper who both quickly put on the helmets to check it out. "You have access to their satellites, cameras, GPS systems, communication, the works, it just takes some time to get used to." Raven just gave me a thumbs up as she kept working and Harper seemed busy going through things.

It didn't take long for the rest of the group to make their way back to the lounge area where we currently were.

"Boat looks clear." Echo announced on arrival followed by Murphy and miller. This was a good sized group now. I was kinda worried about being over powered by the people I was going to try to help even if I'm stronger than normal people by a good margin.

"Hey Raven, did you see those coordinates of the people I was going to try to help?" She just gives me another thumbs up and continues working for another minute before taking it off. "Alright Captain Reyes, the helm is yours!" I tell her in a cheerful voice as she looks at me with a raised eyebrow but nonetheless begins checking gauges to figure out how to run the boat. It's much less complicated than a space shuttle.

She had us backing out of the dock in short order and on our way to the people I had marked out already. There were a few other people I wanted to help as well but we would see in time.
