Phoenix’s POV.
“They’re breaking through the woods now; Miguel is leading them here,” Bane, one of the guards who was dispatched to follow Freddy back to Chicago, said as he burst through the door.
“Good. Do you understand what I need you to do next?” I asked Bane, sizing up the Beta in front of me.
“Sir. With all due respect, the women have already been through enough…”
“I’ll only move on the plan if I need to,” I promised the Beta.
“Do you think it’s going to work? Do you think they’re going to just sit and talk, and hand over to you the information you’re seeking?”
“No,” I simply answered Bane. “I don’t think they’re going to just hand over what I need from them.”
“Then how do you see this working? You just invited the enemy onto our lands.”
“ It’s what needs to be done.”
“Sir—”
“I’ll send for you, and the women if the need arises, Beta Bane… you’re excused.”
