Chapter 16: Watching Eye.

Phoenix’s POV.

“Sh*t, sh*t, sh*t, Fin. You took one hell of a d*amned time to go silent. Anytime now,” I murmured to myself as my bare feet slipped on another smooth stone.

Sweat gathered on my upper lip as I pushed past the first break of trees down the bend that would lead me toward the ceremonial stone. I could smell them before I saw them. Wolves. Some from my Clan were so familiar to me like my own family. Some were so strange to me. Hundreds of them had come from near and far to witness the union of Adel and myself.

My palms became clammy as I faked false confidence, forcing one foot in front of the other, slowing making my way down the stone pebble path, and ignoring the watchful eyes of those who were here to take in this monumental night.
