1 Chapter 1: A Dragons Treasure

February 5, 2004

Lyla Brooks had always suspected her Fate was fixed. From an early age her family had told her exactly what was expected of her. She had fought the wildness, the otherness that flooded her veins. Sometimes she had to stifle her very spirit to fit in.

clank, ching, clank, chink. the sounds of blades whirred through the air with a subtle grace, she swept the floor, her catanas pierced her enemies flanks of meat like butter. Agghhhh. Another asshole rushed her attempting to spear her with his long dagger. His skills were moderate but his discipline was poor. She countered his under jab with an upper cut and rotated his shoulder out of socket throwing his arm over she flipped him. aaarggh-ahhh! his screams echoed the dim corridor as she continued further.

"Brian, psst. get over here" she climbed the steps from the celler and tiptoed her way to the 2nd level of the mansion.

Brian was her brother he had been her brother since he saved her from her death of poisoning 3 years ago. It was a long and tragic story best saved for a rainy day. "Brian", she hissed. Looking behind her she saw him jogging up to her.

"Look what I found", he whispered. He held up an imtricate chest it was a mahogany red and black case with silver plating on the sides. "It looks important." On the front of the chest it has the encarving of a fire-breathing dragon and a young maiden staring at the dragon silently staring.

"Isn't it cool?", Brian gushed.

"It's alright", I say.

In truth to me it was slightly creepy. The woman was just staring at the dragon as he burnt the entire village portrayed behind him and still she just stood there staring at him. "Well let's open it," Brian says. "not now", I say. "Don't you hear that. They're coming. We need to get out of here. They are coming" I grab his hand and pull him towards the stairs to the cellar.

Our footsteps pound the stairs two at a time 4 at a time. We reach the bottom steps.

A man yells in fury as we reach the cellar doors. "They are down below. get them they have stolen something prescious. Find them!"

Brian grabs my hand and rushes me through the wooden cellar doors. "Come on let's go", he screams.

We rushed out into the night.....and never looked back.
