7 Jesen's return

AIDEN

Walking further into the woods, the sound of howling could still be heard but it wasn't as intense as before. Today was one of those full moons I was out hunting. Not because I wanted, instead because of Elena.

If I had stayed longer in the room, I might have ripped the gown off her body and taken her till I become satisfied.

However, I didn't want her to hate me more than she already did which could make it difficult to make her mine.

I glanced away as Ellen shifted back into her human form.

“I noticed some strange things around here a few minutes ago." She mumbled, kicking at a tangled branch as we walked into the wood.

“I do too," I said whilst sniffing at the air.

I couldn't pinpoint what it was but I knew it meant danger.

“Also, a strange scent surrounds your house. Did you take in anyone?" Her gaze drilled into mine for some seconds before she let out a grimace.

“Don't tell me you have a human girl at your house!"

“Couldn't you at least be reasonable and take the slut elsewhere if you can't control that libido of yours?" She grunted.

“I have a human and it isn't just any human nor is she a slut. It's Elena." I shrugged.

My brows furrowed as I noticed some footprints in the soil, I squatted whilst surveying it.

It didn't look like a small creature footprint, it was large and had the five toes completed. This was human and the person couldn't have gone far as it was fresh.

“Damn it, Aiden!" Ellen growled. “If you are sure she is your mate, you wouldn't jeopardise her life by keeping her until this full moon, only to satisfy your raging libido."

She shoved her hands through her blonde hair whilst glaring at me. “You know her scent is very different and stronger than that of a regular human, meaning more enemies will be trailing her down in no time."

I knew she had a distinct scent since she came into my office but I didn't know why. According to what Ellen had said, it only took a strong will from her and the other girls, not to pounce on her when she had arrived.

Even if I had to use all of my self-control, I wouldn't lunge at her. Not because I felt like draining her blood though it was enticing, I only felt like marking her.

“She is safe in the house. Lucia did a protection spell on it."

“You don't know if it'll even work. You once said you don't believe whatever she was doing, that it is hocus pocus. You have never for once believed magic existed!" Ellen retorted.

“It will," I assured. I stilled as I heard a rustling sound. I lifted my hand to my lips to Ellen who was about to say something.

I let out a low growl as I perceived another scent. Ellen sniffed the air and snarled. “Jensen!"

I twirled around as a clap resounded in the gloomy wood. The full moon was still present and at its apex. Then a chuckle followed.

“Aha. Today is my lucky day!" The irksome voice of Jules Jensen, otherwise known as J.J boomed.

“Two Crooks in a place. Could my day be any better?"

He swished past us, shoving me to a tree. I grunted as I slammed into it. I felt my wrist broken at the impact and I glared at J.J who was strolling in Ellen's direction.

She growled, baring her teeth as she shifted. A brown coloured wolf with crystal blue orbs.

“Aha, the beautiful wolf girl. My lovely princess, Ellen." He bowed in front of her.

She lunged into the air, her paw reached out to smack his face. However, he dodged the blow.

“Atta girl." He whistled, clapping his hands. “Don't worry. I'm not here for you." He chuckled, booting her stomach.

My eyes glowed as I heard Ellen whimpered. I leapt into the air in my wolf form, slashing at his face.

I managed to inflict a slight wound on the right side of his face before he shoved me off. As soon as the mark appeared, it vanished.

He was so fast and completely unaffected by whatever was going on since he kept on chuckling. The last time I had seen him, he wasn't this fast and he couldn't match my strength as far as I and the pack was concerned.

“Now that is the reaction I desire!" He tittered whilst doing a happy dance.

“What do you want?" I rasped, panting.

“That's a very good question which I'll answer." He grinned, showing his blood-stained teeth. Also, there was a bloodstain I didn't notice on his cheek and jawline.

A howl sounded from Ellen and others followed from afar. J.J sneered, showing off his fang then he tutted.

“I'm not here for you nor for bitchy over there," He smirked, pointing at Ellen, who only let out a growl.

“I heard there's a girl here." He paused, sniffing the air. “I can perceive her scent and only that sends me into overdrive. I wonder how it'll feel like when I have her tiny neck around my paws when I have her writhing in pain when she begs me to end her misery!" He roared, cackling.

Elena, what did he want with her?

“Don't you dare!" I grunted, lifting myself gradually off the ground. I barreled into him and sent him flying to the nearest tree trunk. My hand moved out to clutch at his neck but he shoved me away.

“Oh, I see." He smirked, gazing at me thoughtfully.

“You've slept with her too? Ugh, I am not surprised since you always become too emotionally attached, only on the first day of meeting a pretty face." He said.

A vein popped in my neck as he took a jibe at me. I knew who he was talking about and my shoulder shook for it was a sour subject for me.

J.J had been the friend who I often ran to when I needed solace. Though he was very much older, four hundred years old werewolf but he didn't look like it. He was on the lanky side, has long shaggy blond hair which he often did in a ponytail and he was powerful. He stopped being my friend when Sienna died since he was the perpetrator of it.

Sienna had been destined to put an end to the district two werewolf clans which included J.J and the packs he had gathered. They were situated in East Vale but often came around because of the nightlife, games and festivals.

Sienna was a witch that didn't get to demonstrate the powers she had before her life was cut short by J.J who had tricked me out that fateful day she went into labour and I being oblivious and ignoring all the obvious signs didn't put meaning into it.

After giving birth to Gemma who came out as a werewolf, she lost a lot of blood as the baby had sucked on hers.

Even with that, J.J went ahead to rip her heart out. They had left her to bleed to death. It was already too late when I saw her. She was lifeless and cold and there was nothing I could do.

Now, he was, here again, obviously taunting me.

“Don't worry. I'll be merciful this time around. Perhaps, you'll still meet her alive but you wouldn't be able to do anything. She'll eventually die which is a win-win for us." He winked.

I shifted, then menacingly pranced towards him but Ellen sidled to my side.

Don't, he's taunting you! Ellen said through mind link.

As if I don't know! I snarled back.

Just go home to check to see if Elena is alright. Then let her go home and out of this place because she is in a lot more danger than you think.

Even as she said all those, we both knew, telling Elena to go home was the riskiest of it all. I mean, she didn't know what was going on and going back to that town without the knowledge of anything was worse.

I didn't know how I would let her in, on the secret of what he was or what this freaking town contains. Eventually, she still needed to know for her safety.

Ellen and I lunged at J.J at the same time but he was too fast and moved out of the way, before darting into the forest in his wolf form which had dark fur the colour of night.

“Damn it!" I said as soon as I shifted back. He had fled but I knew it wasn't forever. As far as Elena was still alive, he would come back searching for her and he wouldn't mind killing anyone that aimed to stop him.

“Go home Aiden. I would hate for what happened the last time to occur again." Ellen sighed, gazing down.

“I will protect her with my life," I vowed.

“I know big brother, I know." She affirmed, then proceeded. “I'll call for a meeting tomorrow to inform everyone of the new development in town."

I nodded. She shifted and bounded off into the night leaving me in the forest.

I hung around for a little while longer, hunting for animals to heighten back my strength before going home.
