9 09. Big Brother’s Cooking Is The Best.

While they conversed, the water began to boil, and the fragrance of cooked congee wafted from the sides of the covered pot.

Luna's cute little nose twitched as she released a contented sigh after perceiving the aroma. "Ah...."

Her mouth became watery and her tails swayed sideways.

Noticing the anticipatory look on Luna's face, Zach beamed once again before noticing a head peeping from the kitchen entrance.

Her black wolf ears twitched even at the slightest sound made by the boiled rice in the pot. The tempting aroma of cooked congee wafting through the air seeped into her nostrils as well, making her mouth watery.

At first, Aurora wanted to step into the kitchen, thinking her sister, Jade, was cooking as usual, but she hurriedly hid herself when her gaze fell on Zach, who had been completely immersed in what he was doing.

She had never once seen Zach in the kitchen cooking for himself, but the more she watched him, the faster she realised that he was actually cooking for Luna.

However, Aurora was left speechless by the wonderful smile Zach had on his face and the way he handled the kitchen knife and chopped the vegetables in front of him. His movements were so fast and she couldn't even keep up with his speed.

It felt like she was watching someone else and not the usual gloomy brother she had known for years.

'Was this really Zach?' She thought to herself in confusion, and her eyes unwillingly met his.

Aurora quickly tried to hide, thinking that her presence would affect Zach's concentration, but she was surprised to see Zach beckoning for her to step into the kitchen.

She hesitated at first, but Luna noticed Zach signalling for someone to enter the kitchen with a grin on his face.

Luna turned and saw Aurora's head peeking from the side of the kitchen entrance.

"Come in, big sis Aurora. Big brother is making us dinner and it smells really good," Luna told Aurora to come in as well.

Not wanting to be rude, Aurora entered the kitchen and stood behind Luna. The view now was a lot better than before and she had a lot of questions she wanted to ask Zach.

In fact, she wanted to know if she could lend a hand but she didn't want to disturb Zach's concentration, so she remained silent.

However, another reason why she remained silent was because she was starving and couldn't wait to put something in her stomach.

Zach resumed his task, not wanting to delay them anymore. He threw the freshly chopped vegetables and lard into a wok and started to stir-fry it with a spoon.

Instantly, the kitchen became engulfed in the delightful aroma of the freshly cooked food which seeped into their nostrils and filled them with pure bliss.

"Mmm...ah," Zach, Aurora and Luna inhaled the smell and sighed at the same time, but upon hearing each other's voices, they exchanged glances and chuckled at one another.

A few minutes later, the porridge was finally ready to be served.

Aurora and Luna instantly hurried to get their plates before handing them over to Zach.

There were four plates in total.

Zach arranged their plates in front of him and gave everyone the portion he believed would satisfy them, but as Aurora and Luna watched him, their stomachs began to growl in anticipation.

"Dinner is served," Zach said, loosening the white headband around his forehead after serving their food.

Aurora and Luna shared a look before focusing on the porridge in front of them.

They each took a sip and their eyes widened in delightful surprise at the delicious warmth spreading through their bodies.

As the congee flowed from their throat, down to their stomach, they could feel an indescribable surge of energy strengthening their limbs and body as a whole.

It was the same for Zach as well, and he was equally as surprised as the girls at how delicious and energizing it felt after a single sip.

Zach looked at the girls to see the kind of reactions they had on their faces, however, he was surprised to see the girls gulping down the food as though it had been made by a deity.

It was like the more they tasted the food, the more their cravings for it intensified.

Within seconds, everyone was done with their meal and a cute burp slipped out of Luna's lips. "That was delicious," she added.

"So much for being a proper lady," Zach teased, however, Luna didn't mind what he said.

After all, it wasn't every day, she got to eat food as marvellous as this.

"This lady is with her best brother in the world, so I'm free to act however I like. All that matters right now is the fact that Big Brother's cooking is the best and I can't wait to have more."

"I'm glad you like it," Zach said, appreciating his sister's kind words, but then he recalled the last part of her words.

"You want more?"

"Yes," Luna answered, moving her plate closer to Zach.

Zach chuckled and was about to collect the plate when he suddenly saw another plate moving towards Luna's plate.

He noticed the beautiful hands holding the plate and lifted his gaze to find Aurora turning her head to the side to hide her red face from him.

"I-I would like to have more as well, please," She muttered, loud enough for everyone around her to hear it.

Zach was speechless. It was the first time he had ever seen Aurora look so bashful.

It was a stark contrast to the personality he had known her to have years before she became his girlfriend.

Zach happily collected the plate and nodded in understanding.

He served them a second time but kept Jade's portion separate because he knew she would be returning from work soon.
