Right Path, Wrong Answer

Hearing the question put her into a bit of a mental question. Going in to the mall she had lots of ideas regarding what she wanted to buy, in general, clothes that were outside of her regulated 'lady' wear. Though the more stores she went to the more her mind kept switching styles and patterns. She saw a mini skirt in the LV store and felt that maybe she could wear more revealing styles. There was another store where she saw a fair bit of animal print, she usually stayed away from the risky ones but who was to stop her now? Then another store focusing on dark and more mature colours but in plain fashion. There was just so many options that she probably didn't even know what she wanted to wear. Grabbing a bunch of low quality street market wear was her best option but she knew nothing of sizes and what would work. Her intention was to hide herself and keep away attention but not to look ugly or stand out more looking crazy.

"Little plum, I know my face looks good but I'll need words too. Can't sketch without a direction."

"I was thinking just something opposite to my style right now? I want to try different styles but also ones that won't make me stand out too much."

"So you want something more muted, what are your hard no's? Like things you will not want for sure?"

"Probably anything that screams common upper class, I don't want to look like a polished lady. Not sure what my style is right now but I want to explore." There was a pause in her writing as stopped writing in her notebook to look back up at her. There was a knowing glance in her eyes as if she knew what her ulterior motive. 'There's no way she knows but her eyes.....she's definitely no ordinary woman.' It was also a weird switch up for her to go from free fairy to mature older sister on the block.

"Do you also want to cut your hair short, maybe dye it another colour?" As Vin said this, Mei Lin could see more gears turning in her mind. The question seemed unrelated but was something she was considering.

"Well I wouldn't mind a hair cut and to dye my hair but not right now. I'm open to wigs though, its a lot of fun and no damage."

"Do you feel restless and can't sleep?"

"Yes..." Her voice trailed off as her faced was scrunched up in confusion. 'What did my sleep have to do with clothes? Well I'm not really lying either for the entire day she's been reborn there hasn't been good sleep. Yet, its relation to clothing was stretched. Was it that she looked tired?'

Holding back the need to check herself in the mirror again, she imagined her face to see if there was anything out of the blue. Everything was blurry in her mind but she assumed that nothing was overtly wrong. If so, then the other stores would have pointed it out to her? She didn't get very far into this thought when the other slammed her pen onto the notebook as if she was angered by something.

"Which man broke your heart??! I promise you I'll make you the best clothes, make him regret in blood haha." With that sentence the line of questioning made sense as a wave of realization went through her.

'She thinks I got my heart broken by a man.' The books had often shown women to cut their hair and change up their style after a breakup. It was a common trope the female lead of the novel went through before meeting her 'true one.' In her opinion, that was all hogwash since you had to suffer so much only to find a semi-decent man. She just never thought that there were people actually assuming that these were signs of heartbreak and not anything else. The reasoning behind all her clothes as building money and grabbing secret outfits to change into.

Though Vin's statement was not quite far off but it was obvious that they assumed it in a romantic sense. Her heart was torn to shreds by a man and one that she had loved very dearly. Both fortunately and unfortunately it was her old brother - familial love. If she could cut her hair and suddenly be okay that would be a blessing. Having to just work on yourself for your own growth versus her purpose of survival gave vastly different feelings.

Seeing him vomit with blood though? That was a sight she couldn't wait to see, her eyes went colder at the imagination of it. While she need to survive first, revenge was definitely on her priority list. The last few moments when she was dying in her past life only she could understand what those feelings were. There was revenge in her eyes and it was the last thought in her mind before her consciousness faded. She was definitely afraid of falling into his trap, feared how well his web was cast on her, fear of losing her second chance but the person itself was not someone she feared. The extent he could go, didn't she already know? A cynical laugh left her mouth unknowingly which help nail in the jilted lover theory.

"Don't look like that! Aiyo my fault of bringing up that man but its okay we can move on. Trust in me, you're fairy godmother." They even patted their chest in assurance while making the promise.

Her cold temperament quickly bounced back hearing their statement and became calm again. There was a wry smile at the corner of her lips as she repeated "fairy godmother? From Fairy to godmother huh? Say how old are you...grandma?"

"Hoho well I fell into that one I'll admit. I'm definitely old enough to be your sister, so this title is not far off. Who is to say a fairy godmother isn't young?! I have this much magic and I chose to look old?! Not in this lifetime!"

"..."

DO YOU GUYS LIKE THE NEW COVER?? Also, I'm really enjoying this new character, she has a role later on but isn't she just a cool elder sister on the block type?
