44 The War Against the Beasts

Luo Wei stood at a high vantage point from which he could overlook Uruk, and behind him, the King's Treasury unfolded in an instant.

However, he didn't immediately take action.

Before the beasts approached, before causing casualties among the personnel... he wanted to see how Gilgamesh had organized the power of human civilization.

It was at this moment that a tremendous roar echoed through the heavens and earth, and the tremors caused by the beasts' thunderous footsteps felt as though they could turn the entire world upside down.

The sky swirled, and dust and smoke billowed from the earth.

The soldiers on the massive walls of Uruk quickly reacted, lifting their thrown spears and aiming the rotating black barrels at the approaching black tide.

Boom—

The spears that were thrown down were as fine as rain and accompanied by the loud roar of cannonballs, black smoke, and firelight burst out layer by layer, just like a withered flower blooming in an instant.

There was no production of gunpowder in this era, so it was obviously impossible for this cannonball to have the same principle as that of later generations.

But they were powered by magic instead of gunpowder, and their explosive force was even more incredible.

Not only the artillery but the long spears as well were mostly enchanted in this manner.

In a later era, each of these weapons would be considered a rare magical artifact.

The first wave landed, momentarily halting the onslaught of magical beasts.

After a deafening explosion, countless giant monster corpses were left behind in their original positions.

However, quickly and more densely, another wave of magical beasts filled the gap created by the first defensive onslaught.

Boom, boom, boom...

The roar continued.

The battle between offense and defense seemed exceedingly difficult at this moment, but visibly, the nearly endless tide of beasts, relying on their vast numbers and fearless determination, resisted the artillery and long spears that were coming at them bit by bit, advancing like a tide engulfing the land, closing in on that massive wall.

The strength of humanity was formidable.

However, in the face of such a large-scale invasion, it seemed that they were still lacking in strength.

But this had already exceeded Luo Wei's expectations.

After all, it was not yet the time when individual strength surpassed everything in the era of mythological heroes.

He waved his hand, and the golden ripples behind him became even more pronounced.

It was time to take action—

"Heh heh heh, a group of mongrels dare to trample upon my courtyard without my permission?"

The sudden booming laughter made Luo Wei's actions instinctively stop as he raised his head while listening to this familiar narcissistic speech.

Sure enough, he saw a celestial boat burning with the ethereal blue flames of stars approaching in the distance.

On that boat, someone stood at the bow with his hands spread wide.

Bold and rampant.

His scarlet snake eyes glowed with an extremely cold light, and with his appearance, the whole world seemed to freeze for a moment.

The immense and intangible magical pressure from the demigod hero covered each of the monsters like a tangible force, causing their forward steps to stop abruptly.

The menacing momentum was suppressed.

In its place, the morale on the walls of Uruk soared!

"His Majesty...King Gilgamesh is here!"

"Those damn monsters are in trouble now!"

"His Majesty—"

The raised throwing spears and the fiery muzzles of cannons grew even hotter.

The role of a true king was evident here.

Steadying hearts, uplifting morale.

Like pillars supporting heaven and earth, giving everyone the courage to face all difficulties!

Gilgamesh, at this very moment,

was no longer the absurdly cruel figure from before.

And perhaps this had something to do with him..

Luo Wei watched this scene.

There was a sense of accomplishment, more or less...

Gilgamesh's laughter spread across the battlefield at the same time:

"I am the king of all things, and everything in the sky and the world belongs to me. To trample on it without my permission is an unforgivable crime deserving of death!'

Forget it, I don't need that sense of accomplishment anymore.

Just kill me now—He couldn't help but roll his eyes..

Behind the king, a golden ripple appeared in the sky, connecting and forming a golden sea.

In an instant, countless gates, like an array of cannons, aimed downward.

Only the true owner of the king's treasury, Gilgamesh, could use it to this extent.

Compared to before, this guy had made huge progress again.

Roar...

The magical beasts struggling under the pressure of magical power also broke free.

Although they appeared weaker than Gilgamesh, their sheer numbers and the wills of both the Bull of Heaven and Humbaba drove them to resist fiercely.

And it seemed that due to the pressure Gilgamesh had brought upon them, the tide of magical beasts not only did not diminish but became even denser.

In the distance, more magical beasts were sweeping in.

Towards the other side of the tall wall, in the direction not covered by Gilgamesh's firepower, they surged...

These monsters had an innate instinct to seek profit and avoid harm.

So, looking for gaps was a given

But at that very moment, a voice also rang out from the other side.

Unlike Gilgamesh's loud and proud laughter, this voice was like the gentle laugh of a young girl, crisp and warm: "Oh, sorry - I can't let you pass here; otherwise, Luo Wei and Gil will be in trouble!"

What emerged next were earthen swords rising from the ground, piercing the magical beasts rushing below and pinning them in place.

On top of the high wall, a figure in a pure white robe approached with flowing green hair.

The 'girl' looked at the roaring herd of beasts, revealing a serene smile.

"He's the friend of His Majesty, the divine weapon, Lord Enkidu!"

"The one who can share the throne with the king..."

"There won't be any problems!"

The morale was at its peak at this moment.

This moment belonged to Uruk.

However, amidst this, there were other voices mixed in.

"King Gilgamesh and Lord Enkidu have arrived, but what about that great figure? Will he come?"

"Are you referring to the sage who suppressed the Monster Forest, destroyed a nation single-handedly, shook the northern lands, and defeated the Bull of Heaven before returning from the dead?"

"Lord Luo Wei will surely be here!"

Someone mentioned Luo Wei.

Sage?

(Sage, Wise Men..I'll probably use both, so don't get confused by this.)

So that's how people are referring to me now?

Luo Wei was momentarily taken aback, not expecting this.

Although he was aware that he had accomplished many things, and his name had indeed become well-known, it was the first time he had heard someone sing his praises like this.

He felt a slight embarrassment yet also a sense of pride.

He waved his hand.

The king and his friend have arrived on the battlefield.

But among them, there was still one person missing—

"Since that's the case, allow me to fill the remaining gaps

Luo Wei smiled.

He waved his hand, closing the doors of the Gate of Babylon, causing the golden ripples to vanish into thin air.

Simultaneously, he closed and then opened his eyes.

A shimmering key appeared in his pupils.

The power of the 'Key of Heaven,'

Surged forth.

Luo Wei looked at Gilgamesh and Enkidu, and with a single glance, he could tell that although their attacks were fierce, they were not coordinated with each other.

Therefore, although the beast tide could be suppressed, it would be difficult to completely defeat it without using maximum strength.

They did not intend to give their utmost effort either.

Because they were waiting.

From the keys made with the ability of the 'Key of Heaven' possessed by Luo Wei, they had already sensed his arrival, which was also why they had appeared here simultaneously.

They were waiting for his appearance.

His cooperation—

The Key of Heaven has always been the core that connects the Wedge of Heaven and the Lock of Heaven, unlocking their constraints and allowing them to work together perfectly.

And that was precisely what Luo Wei was going to do now!

In the vast sky,

As the flames flew—

The restricted 'lock' opened instantly with the appearance of the key!
