31 31- Sleeping In

Ellery's POV

I rolled over, turning away from the sunlight. Feeling a wave of the cold morning air, I reached for my blanket, trying to search for it without opening my eyes, but it was nowhere to be found.

A surge of warmth was suddenly washed over me. It was a new, yet familiar feeling. It definitely wasn't the first first time I felt this feeling of comfort. However, the only time I have ever felt this warm was when...

"Good morning," someone whispered softly.

"No," I retorted.

"You're supposed to make me breakfast," he said.

"Yeah...yeah, whatever. In a minute." I replied. "What was that last night?" I said softly, trying very hard not to disturb the warmth.

There was a pause before a pair of strong arms wrapped around me, squeezing nearly every breath out of me. That was certainly a wake-up call.

"What do you think you're doing?" I coughed as I sat up to try and recover my breath. "People are trying to sleep here!"

"I kinda figured that'd work," he winked.

"Get out of my room! This is so inappropriate!" All the feelings of confusion I had last night have dissipated. All that's left was exhaustion and anger. "I'm sure you do this with a lot of girls, but I'm not like those girls. I gave you a chance to explain yourself and you pay me back by trying to suffocate me?"

"Not just yet." He said, ignoring my statements.

He pulled me back down into his arms and wrapped it around me tightly. I flopped around like a dead fish, trying to break out of his hold. I gave up after a minute or two after having no luck.

The feeling was different. It was distinctive and strange. But it was comforting.

We woke up to the sound of someone clearing their throat condescendingly.

"I thought you said you weren't sleeping with my son." A familiar voice said calmly.

I immediately opened my eyes, jumped out of bed, and stood like a soldier. I desperately tried to brush my hair with my fingers, it had no effect whatsoever.

"Mrs. Mercuer."

"I believe that is my name." Charles' mom replied. "Care to explain what it is that I am seeing before me?"

"Um...could you give me a second please?" I asked timidly. I turned around and shook Charles' leg to wake him up, but having no luck. "Charles! Get up. Your mother is here."

"Muther?" He asked groggily into the pillow. "Mother!"

"Yes, it's me. Your mom. I think an explanation would be fitting as of right now."
