36 Battle of the black demon (3)

Hundreds of Olmaria soldiers lie on the ground in the mud of earth and blood. The gruesome scene that presents itself before Simon's eyes is indescribable. Soldiers, up to a few minutes before friends, exchange furious blows of the sword. A large number of victims did not even understand who hit them. The back and throat strokes are the most numerous.

More than half of the forces commanded by Eric are fighting side by side with the mercenary beastmen. Together they are slaughtering the soldiers loyal to the king of Olmaria making their way through their corpses.

Simon is speechless, he has decided to follow the feline mercenaries to help the rear. He would never have thought of discovering the betrayal of Commander Eric Pool. The young man turns to his mercenaries. All faces are transfigured by a mixture of amazement and hatred.

Simon reports his attention to the massacre. Every second the survivors are always less. Then his mind is pierced by a lightning bolt of awareness.

Selin!

Selin was in the rear!

Selin was in the rear protected by that damn Eric!

Moving his eyes like crazy, Simon tries to find Selin. "On the right there is not, at the bottom even, there she is!"

The girl is surrounded by some soldiers loyal to the king of Olmaria who are protecting her from the attack of the traitors. Selin, with a white face, screams frightened. Simon's anger grows out of all proportion.

Simon wastes no time, he extracts the halberd and with a single long scream he starts the charge "Save Selin!"

The men of the Force of Fate company respond with their bodies, launching themselves in a wild race towards their adversaries. Thanks to the strength of the immense rage, the mercenaries no longer feel tired.

The situation is desperate but fortunately, at the sight of the coming mercenaries of Olmaria, the beastmen decide to avoid the conflict and flee. The feline men run towards a small clearing and there they recompact. Their captain draws a small pipe from the armor. Pressing it a huge invisible ship appears in the clearing. All beast men run neatly inside it. The ship, like a huge dragon, spits out two huge fires. The blow is so strong that the nearest soldiers are thrown to the ground. After the huge bang the ship starts at an exaggerated speed even managing to get up in the air.

Nobody during the fight, too busy to survive, had the opportunity to observe the scene.

The Force of the Fate mercenaries advance by meeting the first small fights. Simon has his eyes fixed on Selin. The soldiers who protect her are dying one by one. Eric comes up with a long sword in one hand and a strange piece of metal in the other. He raises the instrument to the few soldiers left standing. White lightning strikes from the small device to the people in front of him. Like the effect of the 'cascade of lightning', all the victims fall to the ground unarmed. The traitors swallow the fainted bodies with their swords.

Eric pierces Selin's heart.

Desmond is busy protecting Simon from his enemies during the advance when he notices the signs of terror on his commander's face.

Simon watches impotently throughout the scene. "If I had come before?" "If I had brought her with me instead of leaving her behind? If I had not meddled in this whole thing? If I stayed with her at home? "

The scene of Selin's death reappears in his mind thousands of times, overlapping, overwhelming and every time his soul suffers. Simon never experienced such pain, not even when he was beaten by bullies, not even in battle, nor when he saw the shame in his father's eyes.

Desmond hurries to keep up with his friend. Simon's eyes are completely white. The face is bluish like when you do not breathe for a long time.

Simon is completely confused. It moves like a ghost on the battlefield moving like an automaton. Memories of time spent with Selin resurface before his eyes. Rivers of tears.

"How could I let it happen? According to Elza I should save the world. How can I do it if I can not protect those dearest to me. Why should I protect this world? Men who kill men, men who betray men and men who deceive men. Perhaps the demons are right to want to destroy everything. Destroy everything! Destroy the traitors! Destroy Eric! "

All of Simon's strength, or rather the full strength of the people who believe in Simon, explodes. The young commander is overwhelmed by a river of emotions losing control of all the accumulated skills.

The last skills learned are the first to lose control. His body begins to appear and disappear due to the 'minor gate' ability and a thick layer of black smoke of the 'minor shadow magic' ability completely covers him.

Simon's appearance becomes terrifying. The halberd dirty with blood, his body deformed by magic. Then even other skills are unleashed without control.

Igor screams frightened "Never on living beings!" Seeing Simon enchant himself with the runes 'strength' and 'speed'.

Huge black veins appear on Simon's skin after enchantment. As a fury he begins to advance solo in the battlefield by mowing all the enemies on his way.

As possessed by a demon, completely black because of the spells, Simon cuts the bodies of those in front of him with the powerful blows of halberd, who manages to overcome it is crushed like tomatoes. With the sole strength of the hand the commander of the mercenaries crushes the heads of those who can approach.

Black blood begins to drip from the ears, mouth and eyes making it even scarier.

The traitors who can see him from the distance flee screaming. The traitors who can see him from the distance flee screaming "Demon!".

From the previous battlefield the general and his men peep out to watch impotent the battle of the black demon.

Simon sees the bodies smashed in front of him but he does not care. The voice inside his head pushes him to continue destroying everything that is on his way.

Some arrows stuck in the skin of the black demon letting only a few drops of black blood come out but without being able to slow down the monster.

Simon does not feel any pain, only anger.

---------------------

Eric Pool, petrified by fear, prepares to face the black monster that is coming towards him. "You do not scare me! Even if you are strong, I have the power of real demons! I will kill you!"

The former commander raises the tube-shaped device in front of him. At the head of the device two horns are crossed by an intermittent white light. With his trembling hand he raises his weapon and points it at Simon. Then he shoots.

A white lightning reaches the boy. The stun effect of the device, however, does not seem to have any effect on the berserker guy.

Eric screams angry "Stop! Damn monster!"

---------------------

Simon is crossed by a very strong discharge of energy. His thoughts clouded. Selin's memories disappear, leaving only his enemy to see. A scared man screaming at him. Now, one thought remains "Destroy Eric!".

Simon converts his halberd into a small dagger.

Some daredevils face him keeping the distances. A series of cuts and lacerations fills the black demon's arms and legs. The black blood falls burning the ground giving off a sickening smoke.

Without slowing down under the blows of the adversaries, Simon raises his weapon and then puts it between the neck and shoulder of the former commander. He is so close that while holding him in a macabre embrace he can see life slipping away from his enemy.

"I destroyed you bastard!"

"Finally, what has changed? Nothing. Selin? Where is Selin?"

Desmond and the others can finally reach their commander forming a cordon of defense. While Simon's men intervene by blocking the few survivors. He sits near the girl's body and weeping black tears kisses her for the last time.

Then silence, total darkness.

Elza, seeing her pupil faint, runs in his direction. The boy collapses on the body of his beloved. Black blood has lost its magic charge and does not burn.

The divinity of Fate embraces Simon, trying with the free hand to drive away the black spirit who, after taking care of the girl, is trying to approach the young commander.
