2 [Learning]

"κAθαρiζw?" Icarus asked his father but inwardly thought, 'Please help, I would rather not kill my self through some kind of magic accident.'

"Hmm, not quite, but you are getting closer. Now try again, καθαρίζω!" Daedalus remarked.

Icarus nodded his head, while inwardly trying to perfect the pronunciation in his head.

"Alright, lets first try it out on this piece of glass first." He pulled out a small glass shard from his table before showing it to Icarus.

"See how the glass has many bubbles within?" Daedalus asked. Icarus nodded as he followed up,

"Alright, I want you to be able to purify the glass shard until there are no bubbles left, καθαρίζω!" He said as Icarus watched the shard in his hand begin to purify and lose the air bubbles within.

Daedalus then set the now purified shard aside before handing Icarus another one with bubbles still contained within so he could begin.

Icarus then began to focus his understanding of the word and direct the world to his speech. The shard in hand was laid out as Icarus took a deep breath.

"καθαρίζω!" Icarus spoke as he watched—no, felt the mana of the world converge into the shard held into his palm and begin the process of purification.

Daedalus held a grin on his face as watched the spell activate and purify the shard, he then spoke to Icarus, "Good! Remember there are still some air bubbles left so continue to practice!"

He then got up and was about to leave before he left one last word of advice, "Remember you don't just watch the mana as it obeys your words, you feel it, you direct it. When you use a Divine Word you should order it with your mind just as much as you do with your mouth."

Icarus nodded before holding the shard in his palm.

'It's been a few weeks since that day and I've slowly gotten better at it, or maybe not? I feel as if it has gotten easier instead. Like instead of it coming easier through training and repetition it has instead felt like my talent doing it had increased instead...I guess? Kinda hard to describe and maybe I'm just imagining it?' Icarus pondered as he had moved on from purifying small shards of glass and started directly assisting his father instead.

Daedalus had begun shown him and explained few other spells such as Structural Analysis or as the Divine Words, Αναλύστε τη δομή.[1]

He had also taught Icarus the Divine Word form of Alteration or Τροποποίηση.[2]

Alteration is the ability to give an object a property or effect that it originally didn't have. Perhaps making a sword longer or a metal magnetic.

Structural Analysis is the ability to analyze and temporarily input a blueprint of an object into one's brain. Daedalus preached the usefulness of the effects of his inventions to Icarus often.

"Hmm, I'm going to have to leave soon..." Icarus spoke his thoughts aloud while ending his practice with Alteration and changing the shape of a twig by speaking before directing the mana to its shape with his mind.

"I'm going to have to leave soon due to me needing to train. My goal is ultimately to enter the Throne of Heroes and while 'inventing' things from the future sounds nice, I'd rather craft my own legend that's not under the facade of a 'genius' inventor." Icarus spoke out his plans alone once more.

'So, I need to meet Chiron somehow. Well, hopefully, my luck isn't E-Rank, and things just work out in the end.' Icarus thought before sighing.

He then continued his magic practice by grabbing a larger stick and then using alteration to change it to the shape of a crude sword before practicing to swing it while simultaneously altering its sharpness with mana as a grindstone.

"Icarus!" A shout came from nearby.

Icarus sighed while completing his final swing of the sword before shifting over his attention towards a rapidly approaching Daedalus who just entered the yard from a trip into the city.

"Yeah, dad?" Icarus asked hesitantly after seeing the crazed look in his eyes.

His attention then shifts towards the sword and he speaks with a tone containing a lot more edge than expected, "What are you doing with that stick? We are inventors, innovators! Not crude barbarians!"

Icarus decided to just avoid the pointless argument and just stroked his father's ego instead, "I wanted to feel how to wield a sword so I could better forge one, like the ones you do."

Daedalus eyes soften as pride seeps into his voice, "...I see"

But it only lasts so long as the crazed look in his eyes returns, causing Icarus to sweatdrop from his rapid mood changes.

"Ah, yes! Icarus. Come with me, I heard that bastard offspring of my brother, Talus, made some genius invention!" He began seething in rage as Icarus cringed at the pointless envy blaring from his mouth, "He dare have the audacity to try and surpass me, Daedalus?! The greatest inventor alive!"

'Fuck, this guy needs therapy.'

"Come we must go and see this 'genius' invention of his ourself." He spoke seething anger.

Icarus sighed before dropping the crude wooden sword from his hands and responding with concealed amusement, "Alright, and what if it ends up being better?"

He glares at me with unconcealed fury, "Impossible!"

"And if it is...?"

Daedalus' eyes turned cold as his glare seeped into Icarus with fury, before he gave a soft voice that sent chills down his spine,

".....then I'll kill him."

....Yeah, Daedalus has severe personality issues that allow his mood and demeanor to change on a whim.

Leave a power stone for more.
