4 [Fate]

"Yo, what the fuck?!" Icarus couldn't help but yell out as he watched from afar the fight between Daedalus and the city guards.

Icarus couldn't peel his eyes off of Daedalus as he watched him throw fucking....firecrackers or something at the guards before popping the guard's head like a melon with his mace!

"Shit, I'm gonna need to leave this city now aren't I!?" Icarus sighed after exclaiming that aloud and quickly began the run home.

'After Daedalus' crazy crime becomes the main talk of the town I will probably become an outcast or some shit, and I'm sure as hell not staying in Athens alone as a little boy!'

'I could go with Daedalus, but that honestly will get me nowhere. He might even kill me, he did kill Talus after all.' Thought of his memories with Talus.

Talus used to be Daedalus' apprentice when Icarus was much younger, before 'Icarus' even arrived in Icarus' body. His predecessor wasn't very bright and this caused Daedalus no small amount of frustration, but when his sister sent over her son, Talus, Daedalus quickly took a shine towards him.

But, in the end, Daedalus began to harbor immense dislike towards Talus, fearing that his nephew might surpass him, which of course just rattled the fellow's inflated glass ego.

As soon as Icarus started showing competences after his soul 'arrived' Daedalus quickly threw Talus under the bus in favor of him.

Tali's re-emerging with the invention of the saw sent Daedalus's jealousy to the brink which caused him to kill Talus.

'...and that's why I never shined too bright in front of him, just a competent successor but nothing too grand. That's why it's best that I cut ties with him instead of leaving together.'

'If I went that route I would just end up repeating what happened to the original Icarus, and if I do that, then what's the point of me doing anything?'

'This is my life!' Icarus declared in his head, dedicated to his goal of changing his historical self's demise.

'But wait, aren't the Fates a thing?' Icarus thought which gave him pause.

'Shitttttttt.'

------------------------------

Icarus quickly arrived home and ran straight inside. He entered into Daedalus' workshop and began a purge of all the useful items inside.

He first grabbed another one of Daedalus' enchanted storage bags, this one was in a backpack design instead of just a pouch. It was a brown leather bag with two straps and a single flap at the top to open the bag with.[1]

The bag was able to carry around 10x it's size and was about a bit larger than Icarus' 7-year-old torso. It was also sealed by magic so that no one else could steal from it without a 'key' as well.

He then grabbed some of Daedalus' blueprints and stashed them in the bag as it wouldn't be good for others to find it, then he ran over to one of his drawers and quickly opened it.

Inside this drawer was one of Daedalus' more renowned inventions, the one which he is most known for, dolls.

Magic dolls to be precise.

They are very lifelike and have a multitude of uses, Icarus grabbed them as they could be useful later on.

He then grabbed some of the leftover fireworks that Daedalus didn't have with him earlier, these have about enough strength to knock down a wall. Icarus checked the rest of the room and only found some glass lenses that could be used on a telescope.

"....h...re...!"

"....br....ak....in...de.....!"

Shouts from outside the house alarmed Icarus, causing him to quickly run upstairs and into his own room, throwing some clothes into the bag, and then ran towards Daedalus' bedroom.

Daedalus' bedroom is where he keeps his most valued items, mostly as decorations of his accomplishments of course.

But the main thing Icarus came here for was one of his display pieces, a sword he named, Chysia.

Chysia is a sword which could barely qualify as an E-Rank Noble Phantasm, it was pretty much one of those nameless Noble Phantasms you would see thrown around by Gilgamesh or Emiya.

Its special ability is pretty useful, as it can 'chase' any blood stained on its blade. It was pretty much a budget Hrunting.

Icarus quickly grabbed the quality studded leather sheathe beside it and put Chysia inside the sheathe before depositing it inside his backpack.

He then quickly snuck outside the house before anyone arrived and raided it.

------------------------------

Slipping away, Icarus turned his head towards his old house just in time to see a large gathering of people surrounding it, he could understand where their coming from, 'I mean who wouldn't want to see all the cool shit the genius inventor Daedalus has hidden away.'

His thoughts soon turned to his future actions, 'So far I have defied what was originally intended for 'Icarus' and I am unsure what will happen.'

'Will the Fates simply see to it that things pass as they are meant to be with me failing to touch the sun, or will they simply eliminate me for defying the predestined?' Icarus sighed at his thoughts as he left Athens in order to defy his fate.

Icarus left southwest of the city towards the forests, specifically Arcadia, where supposedly Chiron is said to currently reside.

'I've heard many rumors about him with the most recent one being that the King of Sparta sent his twin children to learn from him a few years back.'

These twins should be the Dioscuri twins who would later become the constellation Gemini.

Chiron should still at least be teaching some young heroes currently. This could be an opportunity to befriend a few of them as well....

'Hopefully, I can defy the fates, beings which even the King of the Gods Zeus, fears.'

Icarus couldn't help a smirk from reaching his face at the irony of trying to defy fate itself, as none other than Icarus.

'Sigh, hopefully I don't fly too close to the sun on wings of wax like an idiot.' He lamented....

'But, I can't help the feeling of wanting to achieve what my predecessors attempted, to reach up to the sky and touch the sun.' Icarus mused.

Icarus did die after a jailbreak, and did technically achieve freedom....but he still died a pathetic death, barely achieving freedom before foolishly losing his life.

'I won't allow myself to do the same.'

'I won't die a pathetic death.'

'I will ascend to the Throne of Heroes.'

'I will return to my own time.'

'I will defy my own preordained fate.'

And more than all of those thoughts above,

"....I will be free." Icarus declared in his heart.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Icarus stepped onto a trail heading north, hoping to fulfill a great destiny through only his own hands.

⊱—————⊰ ??? POV ⊱—————⊰

As Icarus left the city, and headed onto a trail north, little did he know he was being watched.

A little owl perched atop the branches of a nearby tree watched the young boy speak to himself out loud,

"....I will be free."

And was able to catch the boy's eyes momentarily glow an ethereal gold.

'...Interesting.' The little owl thought as it slowly watched the boy exit from view before turning and flying back into Athens.

'Hopefully, you will turn out better than your father...'

At the thought of the boy's father the owl's eyes widened before it gave off a low chuckle, 'Ah, to think I had forgotten of who that boy was a descendent of. Now I wonder how you will turn out compared to your divine relative, descendant of Erechtheus.'[2]
